Abstract

This study aims to describe and understand in depth the strategies of teachers in stimulating life skills in early childhood. This study uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method, which aims to uncover the meaning and direct experiences of teachers in designing and implementing various learning strategies oriented towards the development of life skills in early childhood. The subjects of the study were teachers who teach in early childhood education institutions. Data collection was carried out through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation. Data analysis used the stages of reduction, description, and interpretation of phenomena based on the lived experiences of informants. The results of the study show that the strategies used in An-Nahl Kindergarten use 4 stages: planning, organizing, implementation, and evaluation/monitoring. These 4 components run in a structured and systematic manner, including: planning in the form of compiling programs and objectives according to children's needs; organizing, namely the preparation of teaching staff and structuring the learning environment; implementation, namely the direct application of all stimulation methods and activities integrated into learning; and finally, evaluation, namely continuous assessment as a basis for improving subsequent strategies.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The low numeracy skills of children aged 5–6 years in TK Nurun Najah, Pemayung District, remain a concern, particularly in recognizing numbers, classifying objects, and understanding simple comparison concepts. This study aimed to determine the effect of Lapbook media on children’s numeracy skills. A quantitative approach with a pre-experimental one group pretest-posttest design was applied to 15 children. Data were collected through observation and analyzed using normality, homogeneity, and paired sample t-tests. The results showed that the data were normally distributed and homogeneous, and there was a significant effect of Lapbook media on children’s numeracy skills. The mean score increased from 22.73 (43.71%) in the pretest to 48.60 (93.59%) in the posttest. The t-test results showed a significance value of < 0.001, indicating a significant improvement. In conclusion, Lapbook media is effective in improving early numeracy skills and can be used as an alternative learning medium in early childhood education to create more interactive, concrete, and enjoyable learning experiences for children aged 5–6 years in PAUD settings. ABSTRAK Rendahnya kemampuan numerasi anak usia 5–6 tahun di TK Nurun Najah Kecamatan Pemayung masih menjadi permasalahan dalam pembelajaran, terutama pada pengenalan lambang bilangan, pengelompokan benda, dan konsep perbandingan sederhana. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh media Lapbook terhadap kemampuan numerasi anak usia 5–6 tahun. Metode yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan desain pre-eksperimental one group pretest-posttest pada 15 anak. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi dan dianalisis menggunakan uji normalitas, homogenitas, dan uji t berpasangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan kemampuan numerasi anak setelah penggunaan media Lapbook. Rata-rata skor pretest sebesar 22,73 meningkat menjadi 48,60 pada posttest dengan persentase 43,71% menjadi 93,59%. Hasil uji t menunjukkan nilai signifikansi < 0,001 sehingga terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan. Dengan demikian, media Lapbook efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan numerasi anak usia dini dan dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif media pembelajaran yang interaktif, konkret, dan menyenangkan bagi anak usia 5–6 tahun di PAUD. Hasil ini menunjukkan pentingnya inovasi media pembelajaran pada pendidikan anak usia dini secara berkelanjutan di PAUD.

Abstract

Early childhood education plays an important role in supporting children’s development, particularly receptive language skills. Observations at TK Al Azhar Jambi indicated that some children aged 4–5 years still experienced difficulties in actively listening and understanding teachers’ instructions. This study aimed to describe the implementation of Wordwall games in stimulating receptive language development in early childhood at TK Al Azhar Jambi. This research employed a qualitative descriptive method with 11 children aged 4–5 years as research subjects. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. The results showed that Wordwall games improved children’s receptive language skills, indicated by increased listening focus, the ability to understand two simple instructions simultaneously, and the ability to repeat vocabulary during learning activities. Therefore, Wordwall games can be used as an effective learning medium to stimulate receptive language development in early childhood.
