Abstract

Pakcoi (Brassica rapa L.) merupakan sayuran Indonesia dengan nilai ekonomi tinggi. Sampai saat ini, hasil pakcoi belum mengimbangi permintaan pasar disebabkan rendahnya produktivitas lahan. Fortifikasi media tanam bahan organik diharapkan dapat menjadi alternatif solusi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah investigasi efek kombinasi kompos kulit kopi dan POC fermentasi akar bambu terhadap pertumbuhan pakcoi. Pengamatan karakter morfologi meliputi tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, berat kering, berat basah dan berat layak konsumsi pakcoi dan dianalisis dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) faktorial. Hasil pengamatan terhadap tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, menunjukkan hasil yang tidak signifikan diantara kedua faktor. Namun, pada pengamatan berat kering, berat segar, dan berat layak konsumsi menunjukkan kedua faktor menunjukkan interaksi yang signifikan. Kombinasi perlakuan terbaik adalah kompos kopi 50 g/tanaman dan fermentasi akar bambu dalam 6 mL/L air. Kedua faktor tersebut memperkaya tanah dengan menambahkan mineral esensial meliputi unsur makro N,P,K, dan C-Organik. Selanjutnya, fermentasi akar bambu terbukti memiliki bakteri PGPR yaitu Bacillus sp. dan Pseudomonas sp. yang menstimulasi pertumbuhan tanaman. Hasil riset ini dapat menjadi salah satu rujukan dalam aplikasi pertanian berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Kambing merupakan sumber daging dan susu di banyak negara berkembang, karena kemampuannya untuk bertahan hidup dan tumbuh di bawah lingkungan iklim yang keras dibandingkan ruminansia lainnya. Fenomena ini memudahkan beternak kambing tanpa fasilitas yang canggih dan kebutuhan nutrisinya dapat dipenuhi dari berbagai jenis pakan atau padang penggembalaan yang tersedia. Tujuan utama dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh penambahan biji kurma dalam pakan konsentrat terhadap rata-rata pertambahan bobot badan harian dan status gizi kambing Peranakan Etawah. Dua puluh ekor kambing dipilih secara acak dan didistribusikan ke dalam empat perlakuan masing-masing 5 ekor kambing. Kambing diberi pakan hijauan 60% Pennisetum purpureum dan 40% pakan konsentrat yang mengandung 0; 7.5; 15 dan 22,5% tepung biji  kurma. Terdapat pengaruh yang nyata (P<0,05) terhadap rata-rata pertambahan bobot badan harian, pakan konsentrat yang mengandung 22,5% lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan pakan yang mengandung 7,5 dan 15% tepung biji kurma. Disimpulkan bahwa penambahan tepung biji kurma pada pakan konsentrat pada ransum kambing peranakan Etawah tidak menunjukkan efek yang merugikan status gizi, tetapi dapat meningkatkan kinerja pertumbuhan.

Abstract

Sapi Madura merupakan sapi lokal yang berasal dari Pulau Madura sebagai ternak sapi asli Indonesia. Sapi Madura telah memiliki standar dan persyaratan mutu penilaian bibit sapi Madura. Kontes sapi Sonok merupakan kegiatan budaya yang menggunakan sapi Madura betina sebagai obyek kegiatan. Pemilihan bibit sapi Madura yang dijadikan sebagai sapi Sonok memiliki persyaratan kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Persyaratan karakteristik yang disyaratkan untuk sapi Sonok dapat digunakan sebagai pelestari bibit sapi Madura dengan mengacu pada SNI bibit sapi Madura No. 7651.2 tahun 2020. Penelitian dilakukan di pusat pembibitan Kecamatan Pasean, Pakong, Batumarmar dan Waru di Kabupaten Pamekasan. Metode penelitian menggunakan metode survei, penentuan lokasi berdasarkan purposive sampling dengan teknik pengambilan data secara purposive sampling. Materi penelitian mengunakan 74 ekor sapi Madura tipe Sonok. Variabel yang diamati adalah karakter kualitatif dan kuantitatif sapi Sonok. Analisa data menggunakan analisis deskriptif untuk mendeskripsikan karakter kualitatif dan data kuantitatif dianalisis dengan menggunakan ANOVA satu arah (one way anova). Hasil penelitian menunjukan karakteristik kualitatif telah sesuai dengan SNI No. 7651- 2:2020. Sapi Sonok ukuran tubuhnya yang masuk ke dalam persyaratan bibit SNI sebanyak 86% (PI0) dan 100% (PI2). Dengan hasil tersebut sapi Sonok selain digunakan sebagai kontes sapi untuk kebanggaan masyarakat Madura juga dapat juga digunakan untuk menjaga eksistensi pelestarian bibit sapi supaya tidak terjadi kepunahan plasma nutfah sapi asli Indonesia.

Abstract

Pendidikan kesehatan adalah untuk mengubah pengetahuan, sikap dan keterampilan individu atau kelompok masyarakat di bidang kesehatan, mempromosikan dan mempertahankan pola hidup sehat, serta aktif dalam mencapai kesehatan yang optimal. Tujuan Penelitian ini yaitu untuk melihat “pengaruh pendidikan kesehatan kanker payudara terhadap pengetahuan, perilaku, dan keterampilan SADARI pada Wanita usia subur yang berkunjung ke PMB Utami Dewi di Cihideung Bogor tahun 2023”. Metode Penelitian ini adalah menggunakan Quasi Eksperimen dengan design penelitian rancangan one group pretest posttest. Maka sampel dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 30 responden. Instrument penelitian ini menggunakan kuesioner yang berisi pengetahuan, perilaku, dan keterampilan mengenai SADARI. Berdasarkan hasil uji paired sample t test menunjukkan nilai signifikansi 0,000 sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa “pendidikan kesehatan kanker payudara berpengaruh terhadap pengetahuan, perilaku dan keterampilan sadari pada wanita usia subur yang berkunjung ke Pmb Utami Dewi Di Cihideung Bogor Tahun 2023.”

Abstract

Background: Hemoglobin (Hb) levels in pregnant women are checked in the first trimester (Hb1) and third trimester (Hb2). Hemoglobin requires iron (Fe) and protein; consumption of at least 90 iron tablets during pregnancy is recommended to increase Hb and prevent anemia. The purpose of this study was to analyze TTD consumption, hemoglobin levels in the first and third trimesters, and the relationship between TTD consumption and Hb levels in pregnant women at the Bayat Community Health Center, Klaten Regency.  Methods: This was an associative quantitative study with a sample of 52 pregnant women in their third trimester who had their Hb checked at the Bayat Community Health Center in October 2022 (incidental sampling). Univariate and bivariate analyses were performed; the relationship between TTD consumption and Hb was tested using Spearman's correlation using IBM SPSS Statistics 23.  Results: A total of 59.6% of respondents regularly consumed ≥90 TTD tablets, but 65.4% did not experience an increase in Hb levels from Hb1 to Hb2. Spearman's test showed a significant relationship between TTD consumption and Hb levels (p = 0.000; r = 0.516) with a positive direction, indicating that regular TTD consumption is associated with an increase in Hb levels.  Conclusion: There is a moderate positive correlation between iron supplement consumption and hemoglobin levels in pregnant women at the Bayat Community Health Center. It is recommended to improve program interventions: strengthening counseling and education on iron supplement consumption compliance, monitoring compliance by health workers, providing adequate supplements, and conducting periodic Hb checks and follow-ups for mothers who do not show an increase in Hb.

Abstract

ABSTRAK. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghitung nilai korelasi antara bobot badan dengan ukuran tubuh serta mengestimasi bobot badan (BB) berdasarkan ukuran tubuh. Materi penelitian ini adalah 159 ekor sapi Aceh umur sapih dan umur satu tahun. Metode penelitian adalah studi kasus berdasarkan data bobot sapih dan bobot satu tahun beserta ukuran tubuh sapi Aceh. Hasil penelitian pada sapi Aceh umur sapih menunjukkan korelasi bobot badan dengan lingkar dada, panjang badan, dan tinggi pundak berturut-turut 0.65, 0,56 dan 0,64, sedangkan nilai determinasinya adalah 0,42, 0,30 dan 0,41. Model regresi untuk estimasi bobot badan umur sapih yaitu BB= -30,23 + 0,47LD + 0,13PB + 0,50TP. Untuk sapi Aceh umur satu tahun nilai korelasi bobot badan dengan lingkar dada, panjang badan, dan tinggi pundak berturut-turut 0.69, 0,58 dan 0,55, nilai determinasinya adalah 0,47, 0,34 dan 0,30. Persamaan garis regresi untuk sapi Aceh umur satu tahun yaitu BB = -44,96 + 0,72LD + 0,46PB + 0,24TP. Berdasarkan hasil analisis korelasi menunjukkan bahwa korelasi lingkar dada dengan bobot badan memiliki hubungan paling kuat dibandingkan dengan panjang badan dan tinggi pundak.(Correlation between body size and body weight of Aceh Cattle at weaning and yearling age)ABSTRACT. This study aimed to evaluate the correlation between body weight and body size, as well to estimate body weight based on body size. A total of 159 Aceh cattle at weaning and yearling age were used in this study. The method used was a case study based on the data on weaning weight, yearling weight, and body size of Aceh cattle. The results showed that at the weaning age, the correlation values between body weight (BW) with chest circumference (CC), body length (BL), and shoulder height (SH) were 0.65, 0.56, and 0.64, respectively, while the determinant values were 0.42, 0.30, and 0.41, respectively. Regression model for estimating body weight at weaning age was BW = -30.23 + 0.47CC + 0.13BL + 0.50SH. At the yearling age, the correlation values of body weight with chest circumference, body length, and shoulder height were 0.69, 0.58, and 0.55, respectively, while the determinant values were 0.47, 0.34, and 0.30, respectively. The regression equation for yearling Aceh cattle was BW = -44.96 + 0.72CC + 0.46BL + 0.24SH. This study showed that the highest correlation was observed on the body weight with chest circumference compared to those with either body length or shoulder height.

Abstract

ABSTRAK. Pejantan untuk program inseminasi buatan adalah pejantan unggul yang diseleksi berdasarkan libido dan produksi spermatozoa. Penelitian bertujuan untuk menganalisa hubungan antara tingkah laku seksual dengan produksi spermatozoa sapi Brahman. Materi penelitian adalah 3 pejantan sapi Brahman yang ditampung menggunakan vagina buatan. Metode penelitian adalah observasional dengan mengamati waktu reaksi dan lama ejakulasi. Observasi laboratorium dengan mengamati volume, konsentrasi, dan motilitas individu untuk menghitung total spermatozoa (TS) dan total spermatozoa motil (TSM). Pengamatan dilakukan sebanyak 10 ulangan. Data dianalisa secara deskriptif serta hubungan antara tingkah laku seksual dan produksi spermatozoa dihitung dengan korelasi Pearson. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat variasi tingkah laku seksual dan produksi spermatozoa pada sapi Brahman. Individu Cipta mempunyai waktu reaksi dan lama ejakulasi paling singkat serta produksi spermatozoa paling rendah. Hubungan signifikan antara waktu reaksi dengan TS serta TSM pada individu Bizzyard dengan koefisien determinasi (R2) sebesar 14 % dan 20%. Hubungan sangat signifikan antara lama ejakulasi dengan TS serta TSM pada individu Cipta dengan R2 sebesar 46% dan 58%. Kesimpulan penelitian adalah terdapat hubungan antara tingkah laku seksual dengan produksi spermatozoa pada sapi Brahman, dengan koefisien korelasi (r) tertinggi sebesar 0,72 dan R2 sebesar 58% antara lama ejakulasi dan total spermatozoa motil pada individu Cipta.(The relationship between sexual behavior and semen production in Brahman bulls)ABSTRACT. Bulls for artificial insemination must be selected based on libido and sperm production. The study aimed to analyze the relationship between sexual behavior with sperm production on Brahman bulls. The material was 3 Brahman bulls collected using artificial vagina. The method was observational by observing reaction time and ejaculation duration. Laboratory observations by observing volume, concentration, and motility to calculate total sperm (TS) and total motile sperm counts (TMSC). Observations were replicated 10 times. The data were analyzed descriptively, the relationship between behavior and sperm production was examined using Pearson correlation. The results showed that there were variations in sexual behavior and sperm production in each bull. Cipta have the shortest reaction time and ejaculation duration and the lowest sperm production. A significant relationship between reaction time and TS and TMSC in Bizzyard with coefficient of determination (R2) of 14% and 20%. A very significant between ejaculation duration with TS and TMSC in Cipta with R2 of 46% and 58%. In conclusion, there was a relationship between sexual behavior and sperm production in Brahman bulls, with the highest correlation coefficient (r) of 0.72 and R2 of 58% between ejaculation duration and the total motile sperm counts in Cipta.

Abstract

The cytochrome b (Cyt-b) gene is one of the genes that is located in the mitochondrial DNA. Variations in the Cyt-b gene can be used to compare different animal species to investigate the origin of certain animal species. This study aimed to assess the genetic diversity of Indonesian local cattle breeds, including Bali cattle as an Indonesian native cattle breed and Banteng as the wild type of Bali cattle, using polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP). A total of 336 individual DNA samples from Indonesian cattle breeds were analyzed in this study. The RFLP method using three restriction enzymes, i.e., HinfI, HaeIII, or XbaI, was used to identify the variation of the Cyt-b gene. The Cyt-b gene was polymorphic based on the PCR-RFLP method. There were six alleles of the Cyt-b gene found in this study, i.e., A and B allele (HinfI), C and D allele (HaeIII), X and Y allele (XbaI). All alleles can be found in Pasundan, Madura, and PO cattle. Pesisir cattle have the highest allele frequency D. The UPGMA results showed three clusters of Indonesian native cattle in this study. Cluster 1 consists of Pasundan, Banteng, and Bali cattle. Cluster 2 consists of Madura, PO, and SO cattle. Pesisir was separated from other cattle in cluster 3. The X allele could become an indicator to distinguish Banteng and Bali cattle.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the forage production characteristics of Japanese papaya (Cnidoscolus aconitifolius) as a potential feed source for ruminant livestock. The research employed a case study approach through direct field observations on four mature Japanese papaya plants naturally grown as living fences in Malang City. Measured variables included the diameter of the main branch, number and length of sub-branches, forage yield, and nutrient composition. Data were analyzed using correlation and simple linear regression to determine the relationship between plant structure and forage productivity. The results indicated that the diameter of the main branch showed a strong positive correlation with the number and length of sub-branches, as well as with forage yield and nutrient content (DM, OM, CP, CF, and EE). Regression analysis confirmed that larger branch diameters were consistently associated with higher forage production and better nutrient values. These findings suggest that the diameter of the main branch can serve as a reliable indicator for estimating the forage yield and nutritional potential of Japanese papaya, providing a practical tool for its use in sustainable ruminant feed management.

Abstract

Two commonly consumed, yet under-researched, edible flowers—Malvaviscus arboreus (Topi Turki) and Acmella paniculata (Jotang)—were comprehensively analyzed to assess their potential as functional food sources. This study investigated their nutritional content, phytochemical profiles, antioxidant activity, and organoleptic properties. Our methodology, conducted between July and December, 2024, involved a multi-faceted approach—proximate analysis quantified ash, moisture, protein, fat, fiber, carbohydrates, and total energy. Freeze-dried samples underwent LC-MS for phytochemical identification, and antioxidant activity was determined using the DPPH assay. Organoleptic preferences were evaluated through a hedonic test where 30 panelists rated color, aroma, taste, and overall acceptance. Key findings revealed distinct differences. A. paniculata presented higher protein (18.75%), fat (21.71%), and fiber (24.10%), leading to a greater total energy (213.84 kcal/50g). In contrast, M. arboreus showed higher moisture (21.22%) and carbohydrates (48.12%). Phytochemical profiling by LC-MS indicated that M. arboreus contained 51 phytochemicals, primarily phenolics (13.52%), while A. paniculata had a remarkable 170 phytochemicals, dominated by alkaloids (2.94%). Importantly, M. arboreus demonstrated superior antioxidant activity (IC50 92.74 µg/mL, strong) compared to A. paniculata (IC50 156.95 µg/mL, weak) in the DPPH assay. Organoleptically, M. arboreus was preferred for its color, taste, and overall acceptability, with no significant difference in aroma. Overall, both M. arboreus and A. paniculata exhibit promising nutritional value and bioactive potential for functional food applications.
