Abstract

Gelatiniskind of protein extracted from animal collagen tissue. Chicken legs skin waste has not been used optimally, where as in the chicken legs skin contains collagent hatcan be extracted into gelatin. This study aims to: (1) measuring the tensile strength of gelatin produced fromthe washing process with different volumes of water flow, (2) determine the speed of enchance wound healing process in Mus musculus. Result were analyzedby ANOVA. The analysis showed differences in the volume of water flowingin the washing processafter the soakedin H2SO4did not give an affect to the tensile strength. Gelatin(P5) presence best tospeed upthe process of skin enchance wound to Musmusculus. Keywords: tensile strength of gelatin, enhances wound healing process

Abstract

Hypercholesterolemia defines as the increasing of cholesterol serum that more than the normal limit. WHO (2011) on 2008 at Indonesian said that hypercholesterolemia prevalence of woman approach about 37,2% and for man about 32,8%. Tomato contain lycopene is one powerful antioxidant and can manage cholesterol metabolism with blocked the HMG-KoA enzyme reductase (enzyme for cholesterol synthesis in hepar). This study aims to determine the effect of tomato juice on the cholesterol levels in the blood of hypercholesterolemic rats and to find the effective dosis of tomato juice to decrease the cholesterol of hypercholesterolemic rats. The object of research covering 20 wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus) male 2-3 months old with 50-150g weight. The rats were divided into five groups and four replications: normal (K-), high-fat diet (K+), high-fat diet+tomato juice 200mg/100gBB (P1), high-fat diet+tomato juice 400mg/100gBB (P2), high-fat diet+tomato juice 800mg/100gBB (P3). Tomato juice was given orally for one month every day. At the end of the treatment of rats was dissected to take blood from the heart. Data were analyzed statistically with one-way ANAVA with α=0,05. The results showed that the tomato juice affects on the cholesterol levels of blood serum of hypercholesterolemic rats and the effective dose of tomato juice used in this study was 800mg/100gBB.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the needs of learning variations on Biotechnology courses using bioinformatics approaches. One example of applied use of bioinformatics in biotechnology course is the analysis of protein profiles carbonic anhydrase II as a potential cause of autism candidate. This research is a qualitative descriptive study consisted of two phases. The first phase of the data obtained from observations of learning, student questionnaires, and questionnaires lecturer. Results from the first phase, namely the need for variations learning in Biotechnology course using bioinformatics. Collecting data on the second stage uses three webserver to predict the target protein and scientific articles. Visualization of proteins using PyMOL software. 3 based webserver which is used, the candidate of target proteins associated with autism is carbonic anhydrase II. The survey results revealed that the protein carbonic anhydrase II as a potential candidate for the cause of autism classified metaloenzim are able to bind with heavy metals. The content of heavy metals in autistic patients high that affect metabolism. This prediction of protein candidate cause autism is applied use to solve the problem in society, so that can achieve the learning outcome in biotechnology course.

Abstract

Inflammation is a tissue injury that occurs due to physical trauma or microbiological substances that involve the activities of many cell types. Inflammation can be prevented using the natural medicines from Allium cepa L. Quercetin is one of the bioactive compounds found in Allium cepa L and has been reported to have anti-inflammatory activity. The natural medicines have been used to minimize non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. This study aims to investigated the modeling structures and the protein receptor from quecertin in inflammation mechanism and their optimization of the effectiveness in the human body. The bioinformatics tools used in this study are the database of quercetin compounds, Pubchem and Swis Target Prediction protein prediction databases, PyRx 0.8 molecular docking software, ligand docking, and binding site analysis with PyMOL and LigPlus software. The results from in silico show that quercetin compounds can interact with Muscleblind-like protein 1 target protein with a Binding Affinity minus value which is not much different from the dexamethasone compound. Dexamethason is a standart because it is a corticosteroid drug that can be used as an anti-inflammatory to reduce inflammation, allergic reactions, arthritis and other inflammatory diseases.

Abstract

Pseudomonas aeruginosa merupakan salah satu bakteri Gram negatif penyebab infeksi nosokomial yang memiliki resistensi tinggi terhadap berbagai antibiotik karena adanya lipid A, komponen LPS bersifat toksik pada inang. Sintesis lipid A dimulai dari Kdo2 -lipid A, difasilitasi oleh enzim LpxC. Enzim LpxC merupakan target pengembangan antibiotik karena adanya kofaktor Zn2+. Bawang putih tunggal merupakan herbal potensial pengganti antibiotik sintetis. Alliin, Allicin dan Ajoene yang terkandung dalam bawang putih tunggal memiliki aktivitas antibakteri. Penelitian ini bertujuan memprediksi potensi senyawa organosulfur bawang putih tunggal sebagai agen antibakteri melalui virtual screening menggunakan metode molecular docking. Metode yang dilakukan adalah memprediksi potensi senyawa organosulfur menggunakan web server PASS dan melakukan docking untuk mengetahui interaksi ligan-protein target. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan, senyawa organosulfur berpotensi sebagai antibakteri, antibiotik, dan immunomodulator. Aktivitas antibakteri terbaik ditunjukkan oleh senyawa Alliin dengan nilai afinitas pengikatan -5,2 kkal/mol. Semua senyawa organosulfur memiliki sisi aktif yang sama dengan kontrol (Ciprofloxacin dan Imipenem) pada enzim LpxC. Sisi aktif ditunjukkan dengan adanya residu asam amino (Ser295, Val182, dan Tyr 296) yang berikatan dengan ikatan hidrogen dan interaksi hidrofobik (Phe152, Phe181, Gly85, Phe176, Ala84, Val182, Ser180, Ile241, Leu86, Tyr296, Ser295 dan Met297) antara ligan-protein target.

Abstract

Autis merupakan gangguan perkembangan yang kompleks pada anak yang dipengaruhi oleh banyak faktor. Faktor penyebab autis diantaranya genetik, lingkungan, gangguan sistem imun, dan inflamasi. Inflamasi terjadi karena adanya mediator yang mengganggu kerja suatu jaringan sehingga menimbulkan respon terhadap mediator tersebut. Salah satu mediator inflamasi adalah sitokin (IL-6 dan TNF-α).  IL-6 dan TNF-α dengan jumlah tinggi dalam otak mengakibatkan gangguan atau penurunan  adhesi dan migrasi sel saraf yang mengakibatkan terganggunya kerja dari Blood Brain Barrier (BBB) atau sawar darah otak yang berfungsi menjaga normalitas homeostasis sistem saraf pusat.  Inflamasi yang terjadi pada sel otak atau neuroinflamasi yang sudah  kronis menjadi salah satu penyebab terjadinya gangguan autis pada anak.

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to examine the effect of Sechium edule ethanolic extract in insulin and Malondialdehyde (MDA) levels in streptozotocin (STZ) induced diabetic rats. Type 1 diabetic rat were obtained by intraperitonially injected with multiple low dose STZ (MLD-STZ) 20 mg/kgBW for 5 days. The animals were divided into 5 groups: untreated rats in group (K) were considered as negative control, MLD-STZ induced type 1 diabetic rats in group (S) were considered as positive control. In another 3 group (A, B, C) type 1 diabetic rats were orally treated with three doses of S. edule ethanolic extract (14, 28, 42 mg/kg BW) for 7 days. The animals were sacrificed in two days after last treatment, serum were collected for measuring of the insulin concentration by ELISA method. Level of MDA on kidney, liver and pancreas were measured by TBA method. The treatment with S. edule ethanolic extracts unable to increase of insulin yet but the treatment with 42 mg/kg BW of S. edule ethanolic extract showed significantly decreased MDA levels on liver but not significant on kidney and pancreas.

Abstract

Abstracts: The objective of this study is to develop an android-based mobile learning media for Cell Structure and Function lesson subject in compliance with ADDIE development mode. The developed mobile learning takes in general explanation, learning objective, animal and plant cells material explanation complemented with activities and cell exploration clip, evaluation questions, dictionary, and technical guidance. In addition, the reviews of media expert, material expert, and academicians have shown that the developed media is valid. Also, the response of students has proven that the practicality rate of the developed media is 84.65%-100% and the classical pass of Abstrl cognitive tests upon learning by way of the developed media is equal to 84.61%.Key Words: learning media, mobile learning, android system, cellAbstrak: Tujuan penelitian adalah mengembangkan media mobile learning berbasis android pada pembelajaran Struktur dan Fungsi Sel yang mengacu pada model pengembangan ADDIE. Mobile learning yang dikembangkan terdiri dari penjelasan umum, tujuan pembelajaran, pemaparan materi sel hewan dan tumbuhan yang dilengkapi aktivitas dan video jelajah sel, soal evaluasi, kamus, dan petunjuk penggunaan. Penilaian ahli media, ahli materi, dan praktisi pendidikan menunjukkan bahwa media yang dikembangkan valid. Tanggapan siswa menunjukkan bahwa tingkat kepraktisan media hasil pengem-bangan sebesar 84,65%-100% dan ketuntasan klasikal tes kognitif setelah pembelajaran menggunakan media yang dikembangkan sebesar 84,61%. Abstract

Abstract: The aim of this research is to uncover correlation between critical thinking skills and student achievement and the contributions of critical thinking skills on student achievement through learning Biology using genetic teaching material that developed based on learning cycle 5E model. This research used correlational design. The population of this research was all of student grade XII-IPA at state senior high school. The sample were student of class XII-IPA3 that consist of 30 students. The result showed that there is correlation between critical thinking skills and student achievement in Biology learning using genetic teaching material that developed based on learning cycle 5E model with the regression equation Y = 0,511X–35,271. Based on the value R square analysis showed that critical thinking skills gives contribution 55,2% on student achievement.Key Words: critical thinking skills, student achievement, learning cycle 5E, genetic teaching materialsAbstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan keterampilan berpikir kritis dengan hasil belajar siswa SMA serta sumbangan keterampilan berpikir kritis terhadap hasil belajar dalam pembelajaran Biologi menggunakan bahan ajar genetika berbasis learning cycle 5E. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian korelasional. Populasi adalah seluruh siswa kelas XII IPA di SMA Negeri. Sampel adalah siswa kelas XII IPA 3 yang terdiri dari 30 siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada hubungan antara keterampilan berpikir kritis dengan hasil belajar siswa pada pembelajaran Biologi menggunakan bahan ajar genetika berbasis learning cycle 5E dengan persamaan regresi hubungan kedua variabel adalah Y = 0,511X – 35,271. Berdasarkan nilai R2 diketahui sumbangan keterampilan berpikir kritis terhadap hasil belajar siswa sebesar 55,2%.Kata kunci: keterampilan berpikir kritis, hasil belajar, learning cycle 5E, bahan ajar genetika

Abstract

Handout can help students to improve their lesson and help them accept new information easier. The purpose of this research is to produce a Handout for Biotechnology. This development model uses 4D Thiagarajan model (1974). Handout trial subjects include: expert media validator, material expert validator, field practitioners and respondents as many 20 students of class XII as respondents. Data collection technique is done by questionnaire. The research results of this study is the Biology Handout for Senior High School students title Nata de Jack Fruit has been done. This handout is worthy of being used as a learning media for class XII on Biology material.Handout dapat membantu siswa untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan memperoleh informasi baru. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk menghasilkan Handout materi Bioteknologi. Model pengembangan ini menggunakan model 4D Thiagarajan (1974). Subjek uji coba handout meliputi validator ahli media, validator ahli materi, praktisi lapangan dan responden sebanyak 20 orang siswa kelas XII. Teknik Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui penyebaran angket. Hasil penelitian ini adalah Handout Biologi SMA dengan judul Pembuatan Nata de Nangka telah tersusun. Handout ini layak digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran Biologi kelas XII.
