Abstract

This community engagement project aimed to empower ten traditional food vendors in Kotagede, Yogyakarta, by training them to utilize butterfly pea (Clitoria ternatea) flowers as natural food coloring. Employing a participatory approach, the training covered health risks of synthetic dyes, the benefits and cultivation of butterfly pea plants, natural dye extraction techniques, and basic product branding. Data were collected through pre- and post-tests, observation, and semi-structured interviews. Results showed a significant increase in participants’ knowledge and practical skills, with post-test scores rising across all indicators. Most participants successfully applied the extract in traditional dishes and reported improved consumer interest due to the natural and visually appealing color. Some began cultivating the plants and branding their products with natural labels. Despite minor challenges regarding shelf life and packaging, the training effectively promoted innovation, health awareness, and entrepreneurship among women food vendors. This program highlights the potential of locally sourced natural ingredients in supporting sustainable, health-conscious food businesses.

Abstract

Micro, small, and medium enterprise actors increasingly interact with digital marketplaces, electronic transactions, consumer data, branding, and cross-border communication. However, business assistance is often fragmented: legal education is delivered separately from practical English training, while English courses rarely address the actual legal and commercial communication needs of microentrepreneurs. This community service program introduced the Edu-Legal English model, an integrated empowerment approach combining contextual legal literacy, functional Business English, guided digital practice, and output-based mentoring for MSME actors in Cisauk Urban Village, Tangerang Regency. The activities used a participatory mentoring approach consisting of needs mapping, legal-risk identification, bilingual communication workshops, task-based practice, guided product profile development, and reflective evaluation. The program focused on business legality awareness, consumer protection, electronic transactions, trademarks, personal data, simple business documents, bilingual product descriptions, customer-response scripts, and basic negotiation expressions. The main outputs were a practical legal checklist, a Legal-English glossary, bilingual business profiles, bilingual product descriptions, and communication templates for digital marketplace interactions. Qualitative evaluation based on worksheets, completed business outputs, mentoring notes, and participant reflection indicated a shift from fragmented knowledge toward more integrated decision-making. Participants were better able to recognize legal risks in digital business communication and to produce simple English expressions that were more relevant to real selling situations. The program suggests that the Edu-Legal English model can serve as a contextual community empowerment framework that connects legal awareness with practical global communication readiness.

Abstract

Vigilantism represents a social phenomenon that frequently arises as an impulsive community response following a crime, largely stemming from diminished confidence in law enforcement. Such conduct poses a significant risk of generating additional legal infractions, given that it operates independently of authorized judicial procedures. The research questions include what form of law enforcement is taken against vigilantism that occurs in society after a crime occurs within the jurisdiction of the Lampung Provincial Police, what obstacles the Lampung Provincial Police face in enforcing the law against perpetrators of vigilantism, and what efforts the Lampung Provincial Police have taken to address the occurrence of vigilantism. The research method used is normative and empirical juridical with primary and secondary data analyzed qualitatively. The results of the study indicate that law enforcement against vigilantism is carried out through criminal law mechanisms in accordance with the Criminal Code and Criminal Procedure Code, with security measures, investigations, and inquiries without distinguishing the status of the perpetrator as a manifestation of the principle of due process of law and equality before the law. This law enforcement is felt by the community through the presence of officers at the scene of the incident, action against the perpetrator, and calls for resolution through legal channels. Obstacles faced include the spontaneous and group nature of the actions, difficulty in identifying the perpetrator, limited witnesses and evidence, and the continued strong belief that vigilantism is a normal reaction. Social solidarity and family resolutions also weaken the effectiveness of law enforcement. The efforts of the Lampung Provincial Police are carried out in a preventive, preemptive, and repressive manner through legal counseling, involvement of community and religious leaders, increased rapid police response, and firm action against perpetrators. This approach aims to prevent the culture of vigilantism and increase public trust in law enforcement. The recommendations include increasing public legal awareness, optimizing professional and consistent law enforcement by the police, and providing government support through strengthening policies, infrastructure, and ongoing legal education.

Abstract

The rapid expansion of digital financial services has reshaped the global discourse on financial inclusion, yet more than a billion adults, a large share of them in Muslim-majority countries, remain excluded from formal financial systems, partly because conventional products conflict with Shariah principles. Islamic fintech has emerged as a strategic instrument that merges religious compliance with digital innovation to close this gap. This article synthesizes recent literature (2023-2026) on the relationship between Islamic fintech and financial inclusion within the digital economy, drawing on peer-reviewed studies indexed through Google Scholar and Consensus databases. Using a qualitative narrative-review method structured around identification, screening, eligibility, and synthesis stages, the study maps the instruments, drivers, and barriers shaping Islamic fintech adoption, including digital sharia banking, peer-to-peer sharia financing, digital zakat and waqf platforms, and blockchain-based instruments. The findings show that regulatory harmonization, Shariah governance, digital literacy, and public trust are decisive determinants of inclusion outcomes, while unresolved fiqh muamalah issues and infrastructural gaps in rural regions remain persistent obstacles. The article contributes an integrative framework linking maqāṣid al-Sharīʿah with digital financial inclusion indicators and offers policy implications for regulators, Islamic financial institutions, and fintech developers seeking equitable digital economic participation.
