Abstract

Decision-making skills are essential life skills that need to be developed from an early age, as they contribute to children’s independence, self-confidence, and critical thinking abilities. The development of these skills is strongly influenced by parenting styles, particularly strict parents or authoritarian parenting, which is characterized by high control and limited child participation. This study aims to comprehensively examine children’s decision-making skills from the perspective of strict parents using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. Relevant peer-reviewed articles published over the last ten years were systematically selected and analyzed following the PRISMA guidelines and thematic synthesis techniques. The findings indicate that authoritarian parenting tends to have a negative impact on children’s decision-making skills, particularly in terms of autonomy, emotional regulation, and self-confidence. Although parental strictness may provide behavioral structure, its positive effects are limited unless accompanied by open communication and emotional support. This study highlights the importance of balancing parental control and autonomy support to foster optimal development of children’s decision-making skills across developmental stages

Abstract

Assertive communication is needed to create comfort in communicating, feelings of mutual respect between individuals, avoiding passive and aggressive communication, and maintaining rights between individuals. This research aims to test the effectiveness of group guidance using the Computational Rigorous Mathematical Thinking (CrmT) model in improving assertive communication. To achieve this goal, the research used a pre-experimental research design. The research subjects were selected using a purposive sampling technique, namely six students of class VIII-E at SMP Negeri 1 Wanareja. Furthermore, data were collected using an assertive communication scale instrument and analyzed using the T-Test formula. The results of the research show that the group guidance of the Computational Rigorous Mathematical Thinking model is effective in improving students' assertive communication

Abstract

Mental health is a crucial aspect for adolescents, as those with poor mental health may experience conditions ranging from depression and anxiety disorders to suicidal tendencies. Identifying mental health issues is essential, necessitating an instrument to assess adolescent mental health. This study aims to adapt the Arabic Scale of Mental Health (ASMH) into Indonesian and evaluate its validity using the Rasch model. The adaptation process followed the Procedures and Guidelines for Translating Counselling Assessment as outlined by Lenz, Gómez Soler, Dell'Aquilla, and Uribe. The translated instrument was administered to 685 high school and vocational school students from Yogyakarta. The instrument was then analyzed using the Rasch model to determine its suitability for use. Results indicate that the adapted instrument is deemed appropriate for use based on statistical analysis using the Rasch model.
