Abstract

HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) is a virus that attacks a person's immune system, often called PLWHA (People with HIV AIDS). The public stigma about PLWHA has a negative impact on development, especially PLWHA who are still children, such as those at the Lantern Foundation, especially since the Lantern Foundation is located in the middle of an urban area, meaning they have to survive with the help and assistance of generous people. Urban Farming or Urban Agriculture offers an interesting and enjoyable method with the main aim of meeting food needs independently and effectively considering that land in urban areas is increasingly limited. Our implementation method uses an offline method/going directly into the field. There are various methods or types of urban farming that can be tried, such as verticulture methods, hydroponics, fish farming in bucket, using used goods as media, and seeding techniques. It is hoped that the urban farming method that we apply will entertain PLWHA children at the Lantern Foundation as a form of community service. This form of optimizing urban agriculture also indirectly trains their creativity.

Abstract

Bamboo is a versatile plant that offers a diversity of ecosystem services for the environment, so its existence needs to be preserved. The existence of bamboo in rural areas, especially in Wogo Village, is closely related to the culture and traditions of the local community, which can be used to regulate the lifestyle of the community towards the existence and preservation of bamboo forests. Community perception will help see the perspective, response and sensing of a group of people in an area towards events or phenomena that occur in their environment. This research examines community perceptions of the Waja Betho Tradition, as one of the community's local knowledge in relation to the preservation of bamboo forests. To explore information about the data, a descriptive qualitative method is used and the search for accurate information data in the field through observation, interview and documentation techniques to be able to study more deeply. Based on the results obtained, it can be concluded that some village communities already have the perception that the waja betho tradition which is an ancestral heritage plays an important role in the preservation of bamboo forests. The community's perception of the waja betho tradition in preserving bamboo forests is influenced by individual interests, interaction with the environment and economic motives. The waja betho tradition also contains environmental conservation values in this case to preserve bamboo, where there is a prohibition on harvesting bamboo for a specified period of time to keep the bamboo able to grow lush and quality, before it can finally be used again.

Abstract

Early abilities in recognizing numbers and understanding vocabulary serve as a fundamental foundation in developing literacy and numeracy skills among first-grade elementary students. Unfortunately, the conventional subject-separated approach to learning often leads to a lack of student interest and difficulty in grasping concepts holistically. This study aims to explore the use of the Webbed-type integrated learning model based on educational games as a fun and developmentally appropriate method to improve students' understanding of numbers 1–10 and vocabulary mastery. Learning activities were conducted using media such as number snakes and ladders, number hopping, and number cards, under the theme “Let’s Play While Learning Numbers.” The research employed a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, documentation, and learning outcome tests. The study involved 32 first-grade students of SDN Klampok II, Tongas District, Probolinggo Regency. The results showed an increase in learning interest, active participation, and comprehensive understanding of numbers and vocabulary. These findings support the application of the Webbed model based on educational games as an effective and enjoyable alternative approach for early-grade elementary education.

Abstract

Background: Drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS) is a rare, serious, and potentially life-threatening drug hypersensitivity reaction. The diagnosis of DRESS can be challenging to make because of the highly variable clinical presentation, progressive onset of manifestations, and the extended period from drug exposure to onset. Many DRESS cases remain undiagnosed or misdiagnosed. This study aims to report a rare case of an adult patient with DRESS to expand our knowledge and avoid delayed identification and treatment. Case: A 31-year-old male presented to the emergency department with a chief complaint of itchy, red desquamation rashes all over his body, with fever and swelling on his face. The dermatological status obtained was a generalized distribution; on nearly the entire body surface area, there were multiple lesions, confluent, with unclear boundaries, irregular in shape, plaque-sized, not raised, dry, in the form of erythematous macules with scales and light yellow crusts. Hematological laboratory analysis revealed hypereosinophilia. The renal function indicated a decreased eGFR of over 75%, and the hepatic function test revealed an elevated in liver function. The patient was diagnosed with DRESS, acute kidney injury, and transaminitis. There was an improvement in the patient's condition following the withdrawal of the previous medications and the administration of intravenous dexamethasone, oral antihistamine, and symptomatic treatment. Conclusion: Early identification and withdrawal of all suspected medications are essential for the management of DRESS, as a delayed diagnosis can be life-threatening. The administration of systemic steroids is efficacious for the treatment of DRESS.

Abstract

Background: Low back pain (LBP) is one of the most common musculoskeletal complaints encountered in healthcare settings, thus requiring accurate diagnostic management to support clinical diagnosis. Radiographic examination of the lumbosacral vertebrae in the erect position is one of the essential procedures in evaluating this condition. Purpose: This study aims to determine the implementation of lumbosacral vertebrae radiographic examinations in patients with LBP at the Radiology Department of Majalengka Regional General Hospital (RSUD Majalengka), starting from data verification to the interpretation of results by a radiology specialist. Method: This study employed a descriptive method with an observational approach to the radiographic procedure using anteroposterior (AP) and lateral projections. Results: The findings indicate that the implementation of the examination was carried out properly, as evidenced by the appropriate patient positioning, adequate radiation protection, and radiographic images that met diagnostic quality criteria. Interpretation by the radiology specialist confirmed that the images produced were suitable for establishing a diagnosis of low back pain.

Abstract

Background: Premature delivery is defined as the delivery process experienced at a gestational age of less than 37 weeks or a fetus that weighs less than 2,500 grams. Preterm birth not only results in perinatal death, but it also often causes short-term and long-term disability in the affected infants. Objective: To analyze the relationship between age and parity to premature delivery. Methods: This study is a type of analytical research using cross-sectional data with secondary data. Results: There was an age relationship with premature delivery with a value of p = 0.000 < 0.05 and a parity relationship with premature delivery at Prof. Dr. H m. Anwar Makkatutu Hospital, Bantaeng Regency with a p value = 0.000 < 0.05. Conclusion: Good nutritional status plays a very important role in supporting academic achievement, both through its influence on brain development, energy, cognitive function, and children's learning motivation.

Abstract

Background:  Malnutrition, iron deficiency anemia, and macro- and micronutrient deficiencies, including chronic energy deficiency (CED/SEZ), are common nutritional problems among pregnant women. Objective: To determine the characteristics of pregnant women experiencing Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED/SEZ) in the Puskesmas working area. Methods: This study employed a quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional design. Results: The majority of pregnant women with CED/SEZ were aged <20 years (25 respondents; 52.1%). Most belonged to the primary parity category (26 respondents; 54.2%), and 33 respondents (68.8%) were unemployed. In terms of education, 24 respondents (50.0%) had only basic education (elementary or junior high school). Conclusion: Pregnant women aged <20 years or >35 years require greater nutritional support. The nutritional status of pregnant women may be influenced by parity, birth outcomes, and the number of children. Mothers who have given birth to four or more children are at greater risk of experiencing CED/SEZ.
