Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model Problem Based Learning (PBL) terhadap penguasaan konsep dan literasi sains siswa kelas X MA NW Putri Narmada pada materi virus. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode quasi-eksperimen dengan desain Non-equivalent Control Group Design. Sampel terdiri dari kelas XC dan XD sebagai eksperimen (n=41) dan kelas XA dan XB sebagai kontrol (n=40). Instrumen penelitian berupa tes penguasaan konsep (21 soal pilihan ganda) dan tes literasi sains (3 soal esai). Data dianalisis menggunakan uji ANCOVA. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) terdapat pengaruh signifikan PBL terhadap penguasaan konsep siswa dengan nilai sig. 0,017 dan rata-rata terkoreksi kelas eksperimen (76,807) lebih tinggi daripada kelas kontrol (69,844); (2) terdapat pengaruh signifikan PBL terhadap literasi sains siswa dengan nilai sig. 0,010 dan rata-rata terkoreksi kelas eksperimen (77,460) lebih tinggi daripada kelas kontrol (68,937). Disimpulkan bahwa model PBL efektif meningkatkan penguasaan konsep dan literasi sains siswa.

Abstract

Nutmeg is a warm, aromatic spice derived from the seed of the Myristica fragrans evergreen tree, native to Indonesia's Banda Islands. It features a rich, slightly sweet flavor with hints of clove and pepper, commonly used in both baked goods and savory dishes. This study aims to profile secondary metabolites of ethanolic extracts of nutmeg seeds. Dried seeds of the nutmeg were extracted using 96% ethanol, and the resulting extract was subjected to standard phytochemical screening tests to identify major secondary metabolites. The results revealed a strong presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, and terpenoids, indicating that these compounds are dominant constituents in the ethanolic extract. In addition, tannins and phenolic compounds were detected in smaller amounts. Conversely, saponins and steroids were undetectable in the extract. These findings indicate that ethanol is an effective solvent for extracting alkaloids, flavonoids, and terpenoids from the seeds of the nutmeg, while its efficiency for terpenoids and saponins may be limited. The presence of these secondary metabolites supports the potential biological activity of the seeds of the nutmeg and provides a scientific basis for their further pharmacological and biological activity studies.

Abstract

Nutmeg is a warm, aromatic spice derived from the seed of the Myristica fragrans evergreen tree, native to Indonesia's Banda Islands. It features a rich, slightly sweet flavor with hints of clove and pepper, commonly used in both baked goods and savory dishes. In extracting secondary metabolites of nutmeg seed, we used 96% ethanol. Antioxidant capacity of the extract was analyzed by DPPH assay (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) to analyze antioxidant activity with a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. In this study, the antioxidant capacity of nutmeg seed ethanolic extract was categorized as low, with an IC50 value of 171.95 ppm.

Abstract

The purpose of this service activity is to increase understanding of choosing safe foods to support healthy living in children. The target of this activity is high-class students at SDN 2 Sesela Gunungsari, West Lombok. Method in delivering material with discussion and question and answer. The discussion on choosing safe food by providing concrete examples of safe food and through related pictures choosing safe, healthy and nutritious food. In the implementation of the activity, pretests and postes were also carried out. Improving student understanding is carried out by calculating normalized gains from pretest and post-test results, then consulted into low, medium or high categories. The activity was attended by 4th grade students and 23 people were present at the time of the implementation. The implementation of the service went smoothly, the students who attended participated in the activity from start to finish with full responsibility. During the implementation of the activity, the enthusiasm of the students was very high. The result of the normalized gain calculation was 0.14, which means that students' understanding increased in the low category. It can be concluded that the understanding of choosing safe food in SDN2 Sesela students increased in the low category. The implementation of food safety both at school and at home will support healthy living
