Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the implementation of interactive modules of Science based on Problem Based Learning (PBL) in improving the learning activity and achievement of fourth-grade students of SDN 09 Bungku. The research methods used were observation, interviews, and evaluation of student learning outcomes before and after implementing the module. The results showed that the implementation of interactive modules based on PBL significantly improved student learning activity. Students became more enthusiastic, actively discussed, asked questions, and solved problems independently or in groups. In addition, student learning achievement also experienced a significant increase, with all students achieving the Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM). This interactive module provides an enjoyable and meaningful learning experience by presenting contextual materials, visual illustrations, and interactive activities that stimulate critical thinking and student creativity. The teacher acts as a facilitator who guides students in using the module to make the learning process more effective and structured. This study recommends the use of interactive modules based on PBL as an alternative innovative learning that can improve motivation, involvement, and student learning outcomes in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of contextual Play-Based Learning in improving the expressive language skills of early childhood learners with identified learning difficulties. The research was conducted as a classroom action study at TK Negeri 1 Sandaran, East Kalimantan, involving 13 children aged 5–6 years, five of whom were diagnosed with language development delays. The intervention was conducted in two cycles, each comprising planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. Instructional activities were designed around the theme “Animals,” using role-play, guessing games, simulations, and peer collaboration to stimulate verbal engagement. Data were collected through structured observations, performance-based tasks, and anecdotal records, and analyzed descriptively. Results showed a progressive improvement in children’s expressive language abilities. In the pre-intervention phase, most participants were categorized as “Not Yet Developed.” Following Cycle I, all five targeted children reached the “Emerging Development” stage, while Cycle II saw 80% achieve the “Expected Development” level. Improvements were observed in vocabulary use, sentence construction, and peer interactions. The use of familiar, contextual themes combined with teacher scaffolding and strategic peer grouping significantly contributed to the success of the intervention. These findings underscore the potential of contextual Play-Based Learning as an inclusive instructional approach to support language development in early learners with verbal challenges. The study also emphasizes the importance of ongoing assessment, reflective teaching, and instructional adaptation to meet the diverse needs of learners.

Abstract

This study aims to answer the following question: "Can the use of documentary videos in social studies learning improve social studies learning outcomes of grade VIII students at SMP Negeri I Banawa?" The main purpose of this study is to find out whether grade VIII students at SMP Negeri 01 Banawa can improve their learning capacity through the use of documentary videos. The study used a pretest-posttest experimental design with a control group and a quasi-experimental approach. The basic random sampling method is used to obtain the sample. All 120 grade VIII students at SMP Negeri 1 Banawa were considered for this study. Thirty students from class VIII B became an experimental group that watched a documentary; thirty students from class VIII D became a control group that did not watch the documentary. Multiple-choice exams containing 20 questions designed to measure students' progress in history and geography lessons are used as research instruments. Statistical analysis, i.e. t-test in Excel, is used to analyze the data obtained from exam instruments. Based on the findings of the study, the null hypothesis is rejected and an alternative hypothesis is accepted when the resulting values are greater than 2,366 and 2,003, respectively, at a significance level (α) of 0.05. This shows that grade VIII students at SMP Negeri 1 Banawa can benefit from the use of documentary videos in the classroom.
