Abstract

This study aims to improve student learning outcomes in History subjects through the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model combined with the Teaching at The Right Level (TaRL) approach. The study was conducted in class XD of SMA Negeri 4 Palu in the even semester of the 2024/2025 academic year with 30 students, consisting of 10 male students and 20 female students. The method used was Classroom Action Research (CAR) which was carried out in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation and reflection stages. The results of the observation showed that the majority of students had low interest and learning outcomes. After the application of the PBL model and the TaRL approach, there was a significant increase in learning outcomes. The average student score from 68.4 in the pre-cycle to 74.2 in cycle 1 and reached 81.6 in cycle II. The percentage of learning completion from 33.3% increased to 90%. The results of the study show that the application of the PBL model with the TaRL approach is able to create an active, collaborative and participatory learning atmosphere, and help students understand historical material according to their respective ability levels.

Abstract

Traditional teacher-centered instruction in elementary Sciences and Social Sciences (IPAS) education creates passive learning environments that limit student engagement and comprehension. This classroom action research investigated the effectiveness of integrating Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) cooperative learning with audiovisual media to improve fourth-grade learning outcomes at SDN 8 Mamboro. The study employed Kemmis and McTaggart's cyclical model across two implementation cycles, utilizing total sampling of 29 students during the 2024/2025 academic year. Data collection incorporated validated achievement tests, structured observation sheets, and comprehensive documentation to evaluate both quantitative learning outcomes and qualitative behavioral changes. Mixed-methods analysis examined classical mastery percentages, absorption rates, and observational effectiveness scores across intervention cycles. Results demonstrated substantial improvements from Cycle I to Cycle II: student mastery completion increased from 43.47% to 100%, classical absorption improved from 60.43% to 83.57%, teacher effectiveness enhanced from 82.14% to 95.23%, and student participation rose from 75% to 97.36%. The integration of structured cooperative learning with multimedia instruction successfully eliminated academic failure while fostering collaborative competencies and active engagement. These findings provide empirical evidence supporting cooperative learning theory while demonstrating practical applications for contemporary elementary education. The study contributes a replicable framework for educators seeking to enhance student-centered instruction through systematic integration of collaborative pedagogies and educational technology, though broader implementation requires investigation across diverse educational contexts.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the use of museums as learning resources, learning media, and the role of historical teachers in introducing museum collections as historical learning media. This research applied a qualitative descriptive research design through several stages of data collection techniques, which are observations, interviews and documentation. The results of this research indicated that the use of museums as a history of learning media had been going well. Visiting museums provide new insights and knowledge to students so that students are more active and their interest in learning about local history is higher. However, the implementation had not been optimal and there were still some obstacles generally experienced by teachers who were the unavailability of a specific time given regarding visiting museums, and the difficulty of coordinating students when visiting the UPT Cultural Park and Museum. There are also some obstacles experienced by students which are incomplete information and explanations from several collections stored at UPT Cultural Park and Museum so that students find it difficult to understand what they observe. In other words, museums as learning media in history subjects can increase student enthusiasm for learning because visiting museums provides new insights and knowledge to students so that students are more active, interested, and motivated to learn about local history even though there were several obstacles faced by both students and teachers.

Abstract

Integrating character education in the learning process is an effort to instill character values in students that lead to learning that not only pays attention to cognitive but also affective and psychomotor aspects. Historical subjects have an important role in character formation in students so that the values implicit in an event become very important to be integrated in learning. The implementation of character education has not yet been realized in the subjects of Indonesian history in SMA Negeri 1 Gowa because the learning models and methods used are not varied, other than that the learning tools used do not contain the character values that will be achieved at each step of learning. This leads to the inability of students to identify character values in learning history. The approach used is qualitative. While the data collection techniques used include observation, interviews and documentation. The results showed that the implementation of character education by preparing learning tools based on character education can realize character learners and be able to identify character values in historical learning material. Keywords: PDS, Character Education, Indonesian History.
