Abstract

This article aims to analyze the structure and development of Minaret College’s revenue in Australia, with a focus on the 2023–2024 financial report. The research method employs a qualitative approach using the 2023–2024 financial report text. Data analysis utilizes quantitative percentage analysis and qualitative descriptive interpretation. The results show that the institution’s income is predominantly derived from government grants (federal and state), accounting for more than 85% of total revenue. In 2024, total income increased by 6.49%, with the main contributions coming from federal government grants (65.23%) and state grants (19.77%). Other income sources, including parental contributions and paid program revenues, exhibited slower growth but remain essential for financial diversification strategies. This article highlights the institution’s need to develop more sustainable alternative income sources, such as endowment funds, paid programs, and community-based philanthropy. Financial management is conducted transparently through publication on the institution’s website and the ACNC (The Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission). To enhance trust and partnership opportunities, the institution is audited by the independent auditor Bunnet & Bassal Pty Ltd. This study offers strategic policy recommendations to improve the financial independence of Minaret College and ensure its operational sustainability in the context of evolving global education policies.

Abstract

The erosion of students’ religious character in Islamic schools has become an urgent educational challenge, particularly in fostering discipline, moral awareness, and respectful behavior. This study investigates how religious character is cultivated among eighth-grade students at MTs Darul Ma'arif Purwodadi in the 2024/2025 academic year and evaluates the effectiveness of institutional religious habituation programs. Using a qualitative case study design, data were collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews with teachers and students, and institutional documentation. Data were analyzed using an interactive model of data reduction, data display, and verification, with triangulation applied to ensure trustworthiness. The results indicate that religious character formation is facilitated through an integrated system of religious habituation, including Asmaul Husna recitation, Qur’anic literacy (BTQ), congregational prayers, and regular Qur’an recitation. These practices, supported by consistent teacher supervision and role modeling, contribute to increased religious awareness, improved discipline, and more positive student behavior. However, variations in student engagement and self-discipline suggest the need for more individualized reinforcement strategies. This study contributes to Islamic education literature by demonstrating how structured religious routines and pedagogical modeling can serve as an effective framework for character education in madrasah settings.

Abstract

Abstract Leisure time constitutes a crucial domain that must be managed wisely and productively, particularly within the framework of Islamic education, which regards it as both a blessing and a trust requiring accountability. This study aims to describe strategies for optimizing the leisure time of female students through muhadharah activities at Pondok Pesantren Masjid Jajar Surakarta. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews with the musyrifah, students, and dormitory supervisors, as well as documentation. The findings indicate that muhadharah serves as an effective medium for utilizing leisure time meaningfully, through activities that promote the development of Arabic language skills, communication abilities, creativity, and character formation. Each stage of the activity is designed to instill values of discipline, responsibility, and awareness of the importance of time. Evaluations conducted by the ustadzah and musyrifah further reinforce character education and the enhancement of students’ competencies. Thus, optimizing leisure time through muhadharah not only supports the personal development of female students but also represents a practical implementation of time management principles in Islam, aimed at cultivating disciplined, productive Muslims who do not belong to the group of those who incur loss.

Abstract

This study examines the economic independence of pesantren (Islamic boarding schools) in responding to the challenges of economic globalization, using Pondok Pesantren Darul Falah Amtsilati Jepara as a case study. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach with field observations, interviews, and document analysis, the research explores how pesantren develop sustainable economic models grounded in Islamic values. The findings reveal that Darul Falah Amtsilati has successfully established a self-reliant economic ecosystem through diversified business units such as Amtsilati Water, Amtsilati Press, agriculture, livestock farming, and retail enterprises. These activities not only finance the pesantren’s operations but also foster entrepreneurship among students and the surrounding community. The study highlights the relevance of Dependency Theory in explaining pesantren’s historical reliance on external funding and shows how internal economic empowerment can reduce structural dependency. The pesantren’s economic independence model integrates education with entrepreneurship, aligns with Sharia economic principles, and strengthens community empowerment. Therefore, pesantren can serve as alternative Islamic economic institutions capable of promoting sustainable development and self-reliance within the context of global economic transformation. Abstract

The large number of students from diverse backgrounds and with varying characters, such as a lack of politeness toward teachers and parents, students who still violate the rules in the madrasah environment, and a low level of religious character awareness. The purpose of this study is to determine the cultivation of religious character in eighth-grade students at MTs Darul Ma'arif Purwodadi. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. It will be held at MTs Darul Ma'arif from November 2024 to April 2025. Data collection methods used observation, interviews, and documentation. Data validity was ensured using source and method triangulation. The data was then analyzed using an interactive model with data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing steps. The results of this study indicate that the cultivation of religious character at MTs Darul Ma'arif is carried out thru the habituation of reading Asmaul Husna, Quran Reading and Writing (BTQ), Dhuha and Dhuhr prayers in congregation, and Quran recitation, which are carried out according to a regular weekly schedule. Asmaul Husna habituation is done every Friday and Saturday under the supervision of teachers and led by students on a rotating basis, creating a solemn learning atmosphere despite some minor discipline issues. BTQ learning emphasizes memorizing short surahs from Juz 'Amma using the tartil method and makhorijul huruf, which are closely supervised by the teacher who also serves as a role model for religious behavior for the students.

Abstract

This study analyzes the revenue sources and alternative income generation at British School Jakarta (BSJ) for the fiscal years 2023 and 2024. The background of this research is the growing need for financial sustainability in educational institutions, which often rely heavily on tuition fees. The focus of the study is on revenue diversification and alternative income streams to support the school’s operational and developmental activities. The research employed a library research method, with data collected from BSJ’s annual financial reports for 2023 and 2024. Data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions to identify the main and alternative sources of revenue. The research results show that BSJ's revenue sources come from education fees, capital contribution fees, interest income, and other income. Based on the school's annual financial report, BSJ experienced a financial surplus of 43.7 billion in 2023 and a financial surplus of 48.1 billion in 2024. This figure was influenced by the increase in the number of students to 1,412, or 2% more than the previous year. BSJ's alternative income consists of interest income and other income. BSJ's alternative income also contributed to BSJ's financial surplus because investment income increased 50% more than the previous year. This study provides insight into the importance of income diversification as an effort to maintain school sustainability. Revenue diversification has been implemented by the British School Jakarta through deposits and bonds. This opens new insight that investing school capital is permissible as long as it does not disrupt the school's operational funds.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of spiritual well-being on stress levels among seventh-semester students of the Islamic Education Study Program at UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta. Employing an explanatory quantitative approach, the study involved 156 participants selected using proportional random sampling. Spiritual well-being was assessed using the SHALOM scale, while academic stress was measured with the Academic Stress Scale. Data were analyzed through descriptive statistics, prerequisite tests, and non-linear regression. The findings indicate that both spiritual well-being and stress levels fall within the moderate range, and there is no significant association between the two variables. The exponential regression model produced the highest coefficient of determination at 3%, though the effect remained very weak. These results suggest that spiritual well-being has not yet functioned as a primary protective factor against academic stress, highlighting the need to consider additional elements such as time management, social support, and adaptive coping strategies in campus-based interventions.
