Abstract

The development of digital technology, especially artificial intelligence (AI), has had a significant impact on education, including music learning. Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) equipped with AI features offer opportunities to create more interactive and innovative learning. This study aims to explore the role of AI features in DAW as a creative learning medium in the extracurricular music of SMAN 8 Bandung, as well as provide new information on its impact on enhancing students' creativity. This study used a qualitative approach based on action research involving students participating in extracurricular music as research subjects. Data were collected through participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis in the form of students' musical works. The data were analyzed using triangulation techniques to ensure the validity and reliability of the findings. The results showed that the use of AI features, such as automatic composition, sound processing, and harmony analysis, made it easier for students to understand musical concepts and encouraged them to create innovative works. In addition, the AI features helped students overcome technical obstacles, allowing them to focus more on the creative process. This results in increased student motivation and engagement in music learning. This study concludes that the integration of AI in DAW provides a great opportunity for educators to develop creative and relevant technology-based learning methods. As a recommendation, the implementation of this technology needs to be expanded and integrated with the curriculum to support learning in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the existence of the Totokng dance in the Nurutni’ Ceremony as a representation of the cultural identity of the Dayak Salako community in West Kalimantan. The dance functions not only as a performative expression but also as a medium of spiritual communication that connects humans, ancestors, nature, and God (Jubato). This research adopts a qualitative descriptive approach, using participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, and field documentation in Pelanjau Hamlet, the central site of the ceremony. The findings show that the Totokng dance is a sacred ritual passed down vertically through the ancestral lineage of the Panglima Kayau. The structure of the performance consists of preparation, main performance, and post-ritual stages, with strong symbolism reflected in the movements, music, costumes, and offerings. The dance embodies cosmological and spiritual values, turning the dancer’s body into a living archive of collective memory. The shift in the function of the dance from a symbol of power to a ritual of gratitude for the harvest illustrates the adaptive capacity of local culture in facing social change. The process of intergenerational transmission through direct ritual experience strengthens the preservation of its meaning. In conclusion, the Totokng dance not only maintains ancestral traditions but also acts as a cultural instrument that reinforces the identity and resistance of the Dayak Salako community in the face of global cultural homogenization.

Abstract

Gorompol is one of the sekar-gending repertoires that plays a significant role in Sundanese wayang golek purwa performances, particularly in the scenes of cabut kayon/gunungan, ibingan wayang, and murwa dalang. This study aims to examine the role, structure, and musical complexity of Gorompol within the context of wayang golek performances. The research employs content analysis with data collected through direct observation, audio-visual documentation, and interviews with both puppeteers (dalang) and musicians (wiyaga). The findings reveal that Gorompol is a distinctive piece commonly performed during daytime performances, characterized by a concise yet intricate musical structure. Its complexity is reflected in the flexibility of combining salendro and madenda laras systems during the murwa scene, the dynamic interaction among the puppeteer, musicians, singers (sinden), and vocal exclamations (alok), as well as the tightly regulated structural patterns despite its function as accompanying music. These findings highlight that Gorompol is not merely background music but a medium of expression that enhances the dramaturgy of the performance. The relevance of this study to contemporary performing arts lies in how Gorompol exemplifies collective creativity in preserving traditional continuity while simultaneously opening pathways for musical innovation in modern performance practices.

Abstract

Foreign culture has become a significant polemic for today's millennials, leading to a tendency to overlook their nation's identity and the robust cultural potential inherent in their own country. This article seeks to enhance the potential of local cultural wisdom in the packaging of art as a force for shaping community identity. A qualitative approach is employed to provide a detailed and careful description of the art packaging methods in Kampung Seni Edas. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, with the research conducted in Kampung Seni Edas, Bogor City. Data validity was ensured through source triangulation and informant review techniques. Data analysis utilized interactive techniques involving data reduction, data display, and verification steps. The results underscore the necessity of elevating the potential of local wisdom in Kampung Seni Edas as an alternative model for empowerment and art packaging, contributing to character building and community identity, ultimately facilitating preservation through innovative performing arts. The implication is that the millennial generation needs to recognize, understand, and study culture as an essential achievement that must be embraced by millennials as the successors of the nation.

Abstract

This research explores the intricate relationship between psychoacoustic parameters and microphone selection for soundscape recording, drawing inspiration from foundational concepts introduced by Schafer and Cage. Motivated by the need to comprehend the influence of psychoacoustic dimensions—specifically frequency, sound intensity, and time—on the choice of microphones for capturing auditory environments, the study adopts Liu and Kang's systematic literature review method. This approach entails a comprehensive analysis of diverse sources to identify knowledge gaps and establish a robust theoretical foundation. The primary aim is to offer practical guidance to professionals and researchers in the field of soundscape recording. Findings underscore the efficacy of a cardioid condenser stereo microphone that aligns with the analyzed psychoacoustic parameters. This study not only contributes to advancing practices in soundscape recording but also deepens our understanding of the intricate dynamics between soundscape, psychoacoustics, and sound recording devices. By recognizing the significance of Liu and Kang's methodology, the research serves as a foundation for future experimental designs and field testing. Acknowledging Liu and Kang's contributions, the study highlights the pivotal role of their systematic literature review method in shaping the research landscape, underscoring the importance of methodological rigor in advancing our understanding of complex auditory phenomena. This research provides a comprehensive overview of the nuanced relationship between psychoacoustic parameters and microphone selection for soundscape recording, contributing to the broader discourse in the field of auditory research. The implications of this research extend to the field of sound environment recording and psychoacoustics, providing a deeper understanding, improving recording quality, developing practical guidelines, encouraging recording technology innovation, and contributing to the field of psychoacoustics.

Abstract

This study aims to explore and analyse the heroism values embodied in the Totokng dance, a traditional ritual performed as part of the Nurutni’ ceremony by the Dayak Salako community in West Kalimantan. These values play a crucial role in shaping collective character and preserving cultural identity amid the pressures of globalisation and the ongoing crisis in character Education. The research is driven by the limited academic attention given to the dimension of heroism within the cultural expressions of the Dayak people, particularly in the context of rice harvest rituals. Adopting a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach, the study collected data through participant observation, semi-structured interviews, documentation, and literature review. Informants were purposively selected based on their direct involvement in the tradition. The findings reveal that the Totokng dance conveys heroism values such as courage, sacrifice, solidarity, responsibility, and loyalty. These values are expressed through symbolic movements, the social roles of the dancers, and the spatial design of the performance, all of which are rooted in spiritual and historical relationships. Rather than functioning solely as an aesthetic performance, the dance serves as a medium for transmitting values and as a tool for character Education grounded in local wisdom. These findings reaffirm the importance of preserving intangible cultural heritage as a key component of sustainable development and multicultural Education in Indonesia.
