Abstract

Bird pests are one of the main causes of reduced crop yields, particularly during the seed formation to ripening stages. Conventional bird deterrent methods, such as scarecrows, reflective tape, and manual monitoring, tend to lose their effectiveness because birds are able to adapt to static stimuli. This study aims to design and implement a low-cost audio-based bird deterrent device. The developed system uses the DFPlayer Mini as an audio player and the PAM8403 amplifier as a power amplifier to drive an external speaker, thereby covering a wider area. This system is controlled by a microcontroller that randomly controls sound playback, both in terms of timing and audio type, to reduce bird habituation. The DFPlayer Mini supports FAT16/FAT32 storage and audio file management, while the PAM8403 is a Class-D amplifier with an output power of up to approximately 3 watts. Testing included functional verification, sound pressure level (SPL) measurements, and power consumption estimates. The results showed that the system operates stably and is capable of producing sound with sufficient intensity to deter birds. The random playback pattern proved more effective than continuous playback. Thus, this device has the potential to be an efficient and environmentally friendly alternative solution for bird pest control.

Abstract

This research aims to design and implement a room lighting control automation system that is completely independent from external internet connections. This technique addresses common issues in cloud-based Internet of Things (IoT) systems, namely high latency issues and data privacy risks. The method used is a systematic experimental approach that utilizes an ESP32 microcontroller as an Embedded Web Server operating exclusively within a local Wi-Fi network. The software implementation uses a combination of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (AJAX) to create a responsive control interface. Functional testing results prove 100% success in ON/OFF light operation, with superior response performance. The system’s average response time is 100–150 milliseconds (ms), demonstrating that it is very fast and efficient. Furthermore, this local architecture improves security because access to control and action history data is limited to devices within the local network. The developed system is an effective, stable, and secure solution that successfully mitigates the risk of reliance on third-party servers, making it ideal for users who prioritize privacy and access speed in a home environment.

Abstract

This study develops an Internet of Things (IoT)-based water quality monitoring system using the ESP32 microcontroller integrated with pH and turbidity sensors to overcome the limitations of manual observation. The system is designed to measure water parameters periodically and transmit the data via a Wi-Fi connection to a web-based dashboard. Through this interface, users can observe water conditions remotely without direct presence at the measurement site. The development process includes hardware integration, sensor data processing, and network communication testing. The evaluation results indicate that the sensors achieve an accuracy rate of 92.4% when compared with standard measurement instruments, while the data transmission success rate reaches 98% under various network conditions. The system is also capable of providing early warnings when parameter changes indicate potential water contamination. These results demonstrate that the proposed system can function as an efficient and practical tool for monitoring water quality. In addition, it supports faster decision-making in maintaining environmental water conditions.

Abstract

Fire pump is a pump that is used to move water from the firewater reservoir to the location of the fire. If there is damage to this pump, the fire that occurs cannot be resolved quickly so that the impact of damage caused by fire becomes more widespread. Various problems can occur in the operation of the pump, one of which is damage to the bearings and shaft, noise occurs, decreased capacity, and even a decrease in pump efficiency. So to prevent the risk of greater damage and minimize losses in terms of cost and time, it is necessary to carry out maintenance. One of the efforts to detect damage to the pump is by vibration analysis, where from the vibration characteristics that occur, the type of damage can be determined. The purpose of this study was to determine the vibration characteristics that occur in the PEM Akamigas Cepu fire pump, by monitoring conditional vibrations using a vibration analyzer. The method is to attach the transducer to a predetermined location to determine the vibration spectrum that occurs in the axial, radial and tangential directions, then analyze the type of damage so that appropriate maintenance actions can be taken. As a result, this pump is indicated to be experiencing extreme looseness or bearing clearance problems at the pump drive end and pump non drive end as well as experiencing moderate pump imbalance, so it needs to be repaired immediately to avoid more serious damage.
