Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan meningkatkan kemampuan koneksi matematis dan self-concept siswa SMA melalui pendekatan saintifik pada materi trigonometri. Metode yang digunakan adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain control group pretest-postest dan pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik random sampling sehingga terpilih dua kelompok pada kelas X SMAN 1 Pangkalan Koto Baru. Kelompok eksperimen diberi pembelajaran melalui pendekatan saintifik (PS) sedangkan kelompok kontrol diberi pembelajaran biasa (PB). Instrumen penelitian terdiri dari tes tertulis dan angket self-concept yang dianalisis dengan uji statistik t-test atau Mann Whitney. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa: a) pencapaian dan peningkatan kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa melalui pembelajaran PS lebih baik dari siswa yang memperoleh PB, dan b) Self-concept matematis siswa melalui pembelajaran PS lebih baik dari siswa yang memperoleh PB.

Abstract

Kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis adalah kemampuan yang diperlukan siswa untuk menghasilkan ide-ide kreatif dari pemahaman matematika yang dimiliki sehingga dapat menemukan solusi dari permasalahan matematika. Kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis dipengaruhi oleh beberapa aspek afektif, diantaranya efikasi diri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan profil kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis siswa berdasarkan efikasi diri. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif yang bersifat deskriptif. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada salah satu SMP di kabupaten Konawe Utara. Subyek penelitian ini adalah 3 siswa yang ditentukan berdasarkan efikasi diri tinggi, sedang, dan rendah. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan tes kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis, angket efikasi diri, dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa subyek yang memiliki efikasi diri tinggi dapat menyelesaikan 3 soal kemampuan berpikir kreatif yang terdiri dari tiga indikator. Subyek yang memiliki efikasi diri sedang dapat menyelesaikan dua indikator soal kemampuan berpikir kreatif, dan subyek yang memiliki efikasi diri rendah hanya dapat menyelesaikan satu indikator soal kemampuan berpikir kreatif. Temuan lain yang diperoleh bahwa siswa yang memiliki efikasi diri tinggi mempunyai kemampuan berpikir kreatif tinggi, siswa yang memiliki efikasi diri sedang mempunyai kemampuan berpikir kreatif sedang, dan siswa yang memiliki efikasi diri rendah mempunyai kemampuan berpikir kreatif yang rendah.

Abstract

Mathematical communication skill in a mathematics learning process isa basic skill that must be possessed by students in developing the ability to think, reason, and solve problems. Especially in virtual learning, both online learning and blended learning, teachers must be able to conduct learning that built students' mathematical communication skills. Implementing web-based geometry in space and plane learning can be an alternative for forming mathematical communication skills with the aid of technology in today's virtual learning environment. This research aimed to examine 1) how web-based geometry in space and plane learning is implemented, 2) how students' mathematical communication skills are built through web-based geometry in space and plane learning, and 3) what learning alternatives need improvement to optimize students' mathematical communication skills. This research used a qualitative method with instruments in the form of lecturer activity observation sheet, student activity observation sheet, interview guide, and mathematical communication skills test. Data were collected through observation of learning implementation, mathematical communication skills testing, and interviews based on the test results. The data were analyzed with a descriptive technique. The results showed that 1) web-based geometry in space and field learning can be implemented by exploring with concept discussion on the activity pages, 2) web-based geometry in space and plane learning could help students explore ideas throughout the students' mathematical communication skills formation process, and 3) the learning could be improved by developing an HLT (hypothetical learning trajectory) using technology to develop a higher level of mathematical thinking ability.

Abstract

Keterampilan berpikir kritis memiliki peran penting dalam mengembangkan keterampilan peserta didik dalam pembelajaran matematika. Kualitas belajar siswa dapat ditingkatkan dengan guru menyediakan media pembelajaran yang tepat untuk memfasilitasi kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa melalui model pembelajaran discovery learning. Oleh karena itu, dilakukan penelitian yang bertujuan untuk mengembangkan media pembelajaran interaktif berbasis discovery learning menggunakan lectora inspire untuk memfasilitasi kemampuan berpikir kritis. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian dan pengembangan atau R & D. Model pengembangan dalam penelitian ini ialah model ADDIE dengan langkah-langkah yang meliputi tahap analisis (analysis), desain (design), pengembangan (development), implementasi (implementation), dan evaluasi (evaluation). Penelitian dilaksanakan di SMP 34 Kota Pekanbaru. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara, angket validasi ahli media, angket respon peserta didik dan angket respon guru. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media pembelajaran interaktif menggunakan lectora inspire berbasis discovery learning memenuhi kriteria kevalidan oleh ahli materi dan ahli media dengan menggunakan content validity ratio (CVR) diperoleh nilai CVR = 1. Media pembelajaran interaktif yang dibuat dengan menggunakan lectora inspire berbasis discovery learning memenuhi kriteria kepraktisan dengan persentase 81,9% dari angket respon siswa dan 86,6% dari angket respon guru. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa media pembelajaran interaktif yang dibuat dengan menggunakan lectora inspire memenuhi kedua kriteria kevalidan dan kepraktisan. Dengan demikian, secara teoritis, media ini dapat digunakan untuk memfasilitasi kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa.Critical thinking skills are important in developing learners ' skills in learning mathematics. The quality of student learning can be improved by teachers providing appropriate learning media to facilitate students ' critical thinking skills through the discovery learning learning model. Therefore, a study was conducted aimed at developing interactive learning media based on discovery learning using Lectora Inspire to facilitate critical thinking skills. This research includes research and development or R & D. The development Model in this study is ADDIE model with steps that include the analysis (analysis), design (design), Development (development), Implementation (implementation), and evaluation (evaluation). The study was conducted at SMP 34 Pekanbaru. Data collection was conducted through interviews, media expert validation questionnaires, student response questionnaires and teacher response questionnaires. The results showed that interactive learning media using Lectora Inspire based on discovery learning meet the criteria of validity by material experts and media experts by using content validity ratio (CVR) CVR = 1. Interactive Learning Media created using Lectora Inspire based on discovery learning meets the criteria of practicality with a percentage of 81.9% of student response questionnaires and 86.6% of teacher response questionnaires. Based on the study's results, it can be concluded that the interactive learning media created using Lectora Inspire meets both criteria of validity and practicality. Thus, theoretically, this medium can be used to facilitate students ' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Mahasiswa calon guru matematika yang memiliki peran dan fungsi dalam lingkungan pendidikan dituntut untuk berpikir tingkat tinggi dan melakukan penalaran tingkat tinggi, yang semuanya dapat terwujud dengan memiliki kemampuan dasar dalam mengkomunikasikan ide melalui pengembangan kemampuan berpikir matematis baik terhadap dirinya sendiri maupun kepada orang lain. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kemampuan komunikasi matematis mahasiswa pada pembelajaran kalkulus integral secara keseluruhan kemampuan mahasiswa, berdasarkan kategori kemampuan, dan berdasarkan kemampuan setiap indikator kemampuan komunikasi matematis mahasiswa. Subjek penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa yang mengambil mata kuliah kalkulus integral pada semester 4 tahun pelajaran 2021/2022 sebanyak 37 mahasiswa program studi pendidikan matematika di salah satu Universitas Negeri di Provinsi Bengkulu. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Instrumen dari penelitian ini menggunakan tes kemampuan komunikasi matematis dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: (1) secara keseluruhan kemampuan komunikasi mahasiswa sebesar 75,44% berada pada kategori baik, (2) berdasarkan kategori kemampuan komunikasi matematis menunjukkan bahwa kategori sangat baik berada pada 88,67%, kategori baik berada pada 73,54%, kategori cukup berada pada 52,59%, dan kategori kurang berada pada 40%. (3) kemampuan komunikasi matematis berdasarkan indikator yakni a) mengkonsilidasi pemikiran (ide/gagasan) secara tertulis berada pada 83,06%  dengan kategori sangat baik, b) menafsirkan ide atau konsep matematika dalam bentuk grafik, gambar atau tabel berada pada 78,38%  dengan kategori baik, c) mengekpresikan ide matematika dengan tepat berada pada 64,86% dengan kategori baik. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan komunikasi matematis mahasiswa masih belum optimal dan memerlukan perhatian dari praktisi pendidikan.

Abstract

The concept of angle and angular measure are essential concepts that need to be well understood in learning geometry. However, students often misunderstand these concepts. This study aimed to analyze how the shift in knowledge of the concept of angle and angle measurement in the perspective of didactic transposition. A qualitative study with a phenomenological approach was conducted to examine this phenomena. Data were collected through classroom observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The results of the study indicate that the transposition process in learning affects students' conceptualization process of the definition of angles so that students cannot distinguish between angles and anglular measure and tend to consider the two to be the same. A weak transposition process often causes errors, variations in meaning, and limited knowledge. This study emphasizes the need for a good didactic approach to bridge the gap in the transition process between scientific knowledge of mathematics and students' understanding. The implications of this study suggest that there is an alignment of both the curriculum and teaching materials that are in line with scholarly knowledge to improve students' understanding of the concept of angles and anglular measure.

Abstract

Mathematical literacy is important for helping students solve real-world problems through mathematical reasoning. However, students in Indonesia still demonstrate low performance in this area. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of GeoGebra Classroom-assisted learning in improving the mathematical literacy of eighth-grade students on the topic of exponents and roots. Using a qualitative descriptive method, data were collected from 22 students through written tests, questionnaires, and interviews. The results showed that GeoGebra Classroom supported conceptual understanding, improved visualization of abstract material, and increased student motivation and engagement. The use of this interactive technology had a positive impact on all indicators of mathematical literacy. These findings suggest that GeoGebra Classroom is an effective tool for enhancing mathematical literacy, and further research with larger and more diverse samples is recommended to strengthen and expand upon these results.

Abstract

Spatial ability plays a crucial role in shaping students' interest and career paths in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). This quantitative study involved 60 science students aged 15–17 in Bandung, Indonesia, utilizing a spatial ability test to measure mental rotation, spatial visualization, and spatial orientation, along with a career interest questionnaire to assess STEM and non-STEM preferences. Logistic regression analysis confirmed that spatial ability significantly influenced students' STEM interest (p = 0.004) with a moderate contribution. Further analysis using the Independent Samples T-Test revealed that students interested in STEM had significantly higher mental rotation (p < 0.001, Cohen’s d = -1.000) and spatial visualization (p = 0.002, Cohen’s d = -0.797) abilities than non-STEM students, while spatial orientation showed no significant difference (p = 0.112, Cohen’s d = -0.317). These findings highlight the role of spatial ability as a predictor of STEM interest, emphasizing the need for educational interventions such as visualization-based learning, three-dimensional object manipulation, and technology-assisted spatial training, including computer-aided design (CAD) software and mental rotation exercises. Integrating these strategies into mathematics and science curricula can enhance spatial skills and support students' engagement in STEM education and careers.

Abstract

Several studies related to mathematical proof have been done by many researchers on high-level materials, but not yet examined on the material of transformation geometry. The aim of this research is identification learning obstacles pre-service teachers on transformation geometry. This study is qualitative research; data were collected from interview sheets and test. There were four problems given to 9 pre-service mathematics teachers. The results of this research were as follows: learning obstacles related to the difficulty in applying the concept; related to visualize the geometry object; related to obstacles in determining principle; related to understanding the problem and related obstacles in mathematical proofs such as not understanding and unable to express a definition, not knowing to use the definition to construct the proof, not understanding the use of language and mathematical notation, not knowing how to start the proof.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the perspectives of junior high school mathematics teachers in Bogor Regency regarding the implementation of the STEM Challenge as an alternative assessment in mathematics learning. This research uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method. Data were collected through open-ended questionnaires, in-depth interviews, and document studies. The results of the study reveal three findings: (1) teachers assess that the STEM Challenge is quite appropriate and has the potential to assess students' abilities, especially related to 21st century skills such as critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration; (2) many teachers realize that conventional assessments (written tests) have limitations as they tend to focus only on cognitive aspects; and the last, (3), although the STEM Challenge is considered a good alternative assessment, teachers also expressed Challenges and obstacles in its implementation, including limitations in infrastructure, lack of learning time, and the need for adaptation for teachers and students. This research recommends the need for policy support, teacher training, and the provision of resources so that the STEM Challenge can be effectively implemented in order to make assessments in mathematics learning more contextual and meaningful.
