Abstract

This research was motivated by initial findings at SMA N 1 Muaro Jambi, which revealed that some students were disengaged in the learning process. Indicators of low engagement included not paying attention to the teacher, being passive during Q&A sessions, avoiding reading materials, and talking to friends while the teacher was explaining. This disengagement is linked to low self-regulation, or the ability to manage behavior, emotions, and motivation. Strong self-regulation helps students set clear learning goals and boosts intrinsic motivation, leading to greater involvement in learning. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of self-regulation on students’ learning engagement at SMA N 1 Muaro Jambi. This quantitative research used an ex post facto method. The study involved 1,105 students, with a sample of 294 selected using Slovin's formula and simple random sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire, and analyses included percentage analysis, normality and linearity tests, and simple regression analysis. The study results indicate that self-regulation is categorized as high, with a percentage of 67.86%, while learning engagement also falls in the high category, with a percentage of 68.59%. The contribution of the self-regulation to the learning engagement, based on the R Square value, is 0.258 or 25.8%, which is classified as moderately strong. The T-test shows that the calculated t-value is 10.073, which is greater than the critical t-value of 1.960 at a 0.05 significance level, indicating that self-regulation significantly influences students' engagement in learning.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of implementing student self-efficacy in supporting the learning process and student development at school. One factor suspected to influence this is social support provided by parents. Therefore, this study aims to determine the relationship between parental social support and student self-efficacy at SMKN 2 Jambi City in the 2025/2026 academic year. This research used a quantitative approach with a correlational method. The population in this study were all 10th and 11th grade students majoring in Accounting and Institutional Finance (AKL), totaling 355 students. The sample size was 188 students determined using the Slovin formula. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using SPSS 26. The results showed that parental social support was in the high category at 69.7%, while student self-efficacy was also in the high category at 65.5%. Correlation analysis using Pearson Product Moment showed a correlation coefficient of 0.506 with a significance level of 0.000 (<0.05), indicating a positive and significant relationship between parental social support and student self-efficacy. This relationship is considered moderate, indicating that the higher the level of parental social support, the higher the student's self-efficacy, and vice versa. These findings indicate that parental social support plays a crucial role in shaping students' self-confidence in facing academic tasks and challenges. Therefore, collaboration between schools and parents is necessary to support students' psychological development, particularly in enhancing self-efficacy.

Abstract

The disruptive era, characterized by the acceleration of digital technology innovation, has brought profound transformations to various aspects of life, including the loss of a number of traditional jobs, the widening of the digital divide, and the emergence of ethical challenges in the use of technology. This situation is a serious concern, especially among students in Sungai Duren Village, whose parents mostly work in the agriculture and fisheries sectors, resulting in limited capacity to guide their children in dealing with digital dynamics. The goal of this community service program is to strengthen students' digital literacy through workshops designed to equip them with the skills and knowledge to address the negative impacts of digitalization, such as exposure to hoaxes, gadget addiction, and decreased social interaction. The implementation method consisted of two stages: first, interactive delivery of material through lectures, discussions, and simulations; and second, the introduction and distribution of Digital Literacy Cards as visual aids containing reflective messages to encourage a balance between digital and real life. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants' awareness and skills in sorting information, managing gadget use, and fostering creativity based on non-digital activities. This program not only improved students' digital literacy but also provided them with practical strategies to face the challenges of the disruptive era in a more critical, creative, and responsible manner.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the belief that peer empathy is an important form of social support that helps reduce stress and encourages students to complete their final assignments. This support serves as a buffer against the stress felt by students. Therefore, this study aims to determine the effect of peer empathy on the stress of completing final assignments for Guidance and Counseling students at Jambi University. This study used a quantitative approach with an ex post facto method. The subjects were students of the Guidance and Counseling Study Program, batches of 2021 and 2022, at Jambi University. The data were then analyzed using statistical analysis with the help of SPSS. The study population was 144 students, with a sample of 106 students determined using the Slovin formula and a stratified sampling technique. Data collection used a Likert scale questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability, and was analyzed using a simple regression test in SPSS. The results showed that the level of peer empathy was in the high category with a percentage of 78.53%, while the level of stress in completing final assignments was in the medium category with a percentage of 58.12%. The analysis showed that peer empathy had a 63.9% effect on students' stress levels when completing their final assignments, while other factors contributed to the remaining 36.1%. Therefore, the greater the peer empathy, the lower the students' stress levels when completing their final assignments.
