Abstract

Mamuju and its surrounding area are constructed mainly by volcanic rocks. Volcanoclastic sedimentary rocks and limestones are laid above the volcanic rocks. Volcanic activities create some unique morphologies such as craters, lava domes, and pyroclastic flow paths as their volcanic products. These products are identified from their circular features characters on Landsat-8 imagery. After geometric and atmospheric corrections had been done, a visual interpretation on Landsat-8 imagery was conducted to identify structure, geomorphology, and geological condition of the area. Regional geological structures show trend to southeast – northwest direction which is affects the formation of Adang volcano. Geomorphology of the area are classified into 16 geomorphology units based on their genetic aspects, i.e Sumare fault block ridge, Mamuju cuesta ridge, Adang eruption crater, Labuhan Ranau eruption crater, Sumare eruption crater, Ampalas volcanic cone, Adang lava dome, Labuhan Ranau intrusion hill, Adang pyroclastic flow ridge, Sumare pyroclastic flow ridge, Adang volcanic remnant hills, Malunda volcanic remnant hills, Talaya volcanic remnant hills, Tapalang karst hills, Mamuju alluvium plains, and Karampuang reef terrace plains. Based on the Landsat-8 imagery interpretation result and field confirmation, the geology of Mamuju area is divided into volcanic rocks and sedimentary rocks. There are two groups of volcanic rocks; Talaya complex and Mamuju complex. The Talaya complex consists of Mambi, Malunda, and Kalukku volcanic rocks with andesitic composition, while Mamuju complex consist of Botteng, Ahu, Tapalang, Adang, Ampalas, Sumare, danLabuhanRanau volcanic rocks with andesite to leucitic basalt composition. The volcanostratigraphy of Mamuju area was constructed based on its structure, geomorphology and lithology distribution analysis. Volcanostratigraphy of Mamuju area is classified into Khuluk Talaya and Khuluk Mamuju. The Khuluk Talaya consists of Gumuk Mambi, Gumuk Malunda, and Gumuk Kalukku, while Khuluk Mamuju consists of Gumuk Botteng, Gumuk Ahu, Gumuk Tapalang, Gumuk Adang, Gumuk Ampalas, Gumuk Sumare, and Gumuk Labuhan Ranau.

Abstract

Phosphates are predominantly used in the manufacture of fertilizers for crop nutrition and the production of animal feed supplements. Only 10 – 15 % of the world phosphate rock production has other uses, such as pharmaceuticals, ceramics, an important alternative source of rare earth elements (REE), and Lithium-Iron-Phosphate (LFP) batteries. In Indonesia, various types of rocks are composed of phosphate components, but rocks containing economic value are limited. They are generally found in sedimentary or biogenic phosphate deposits, whereas phosphate resources derived from igneous rocks are still undiscovered. Therefore, regionally accurate mapping using spectral-wise methods is proposed in this study. The five spectral references originated from phosphate minerals from the USGS spectral library were used: fluorapatite, chlorapatite, hydroxylapatite, monazite, and xenotime. The spectral-wise aims to identify anomalies of phosphate minerals based on the behaviour of spectral absorption at wavelength 2 µm. Their spectra showed a similar absorption pattern at a wavelength of 2 µm originating from orthophosphate (PO4). This spectral-wise formulation was then applied to detect the phosphate occurrences using the Landsat 9 image. According to the proposed method, three PO4 prospect zones could successfully be detected covering 2,604 Ha with P2O5 content reaching 1.14 ̶ 2.73 %. It has been verified that the proposed method has an accuracy of about 70 % compared to rock samples containing P2O5 at the field study.

Abstract

The 2024 eruptions of Ruang Volcano in North Sulawesi, Indonesia, represent one of the most explosive and impactful volcanic events in the region's recent history. The eruption sequence, which commenced on April 16th and peaked with significant explosive episodes on April 17th and 30th, resulted in the evacuation of over 9,000 residents and demonstrated the volcano’s capacity for high-energy eruptive activity. This preliminary analysis of the April 30, 2024, Ruang Volcano eruption emphasises the importance of ejected materials—such as high-vesicular juvenile fragments, crystal-rich components, and megacrysts of amphibole (hornblende)—in revealing the eruption’s explosive signature. Geochemical analysis of juvenile materials indicates a basaltic andesite composition, with SiO₂ contents ranging from 53.02% to 54.27%. Petrographic examination and SEM observations reveal high vesicularity, ruptured bubble walls, and microlite-rich groundmass textures, indicative of rapid ascent and intense degassing, which facilitated efficient magma fragmentation. These features suggest that the magma underwent rapid decompression. Understanding these properties provides important clues about the mechanisms underlying the explosiveness of the Ruang eruption.

Abstract

Gas emission in volcanic areas is one of the features that can be used for geothermal exploration and to monitor volcanic activity. Volcanic gases are usually emitted in permeable zones in geothermal fields. The use of thermal infrared radiometers (TIR) onboard of advanced spaceborne thermal emission and reflection radiometers (ASTER) aims to detect thermal anomalies at the ground surface related to gas emissions from permeable zones. The study area is located around Bandung Basin, West Java (Indonesia), particularly the Papandayan and Domas craters. This area was chosen because of the easily detected land surface temperature (LST) following emissivity and vegetation corrections (Tcveg). The ASTER TIR images used in this study were acquired by direct night and day observation, including observations made using visible to near-infrared radiometers (VNIR). Field measurements of volcanic gases composed of SO2 and CO2 were performed at three different zones for each of the craters. The measured SO2 concentration was found to be constant over time, but CO2 concentration showed some variation in the craters. We obtained results suggesting that SO2 gas measurements and Tcveg are highly correlated. At Papandayan crater, the SO2 gas concentration was 334.34 ppm and the Tcveg temperature was 35.67 °C, results that are considered highly anomalous. The same correlation was also found at Domas crater, which showed an increased SO2 gas concentration of 35.39 ppm located at a high-anomaly Tcveg of 30.65 °C. Therefore, the ASTER TIR images have potential to identify volcanic gases as related to high Tcveg.

Abstract

In the past decade, blockchain technology has developed quickly and gained the attention of many people, especially in the subject of accounting. The purpose of this study is to determine the benefits and challenges related to blockchain technology in the field of accounting. This study uses an extensive overview of the literature as its approach to research. Blockchain technology provides a decentralized, secure, and transparent framework for maintaining data. The idea that blockchain allows for things to be more open and accountable shows how useful it is in accounting. Using blockchain, companies can make their financial statements more accurate and clear, which will make investors and other stakeholders more likely to trust them. However, using blockchain in accounting also comes with a lot of problems, such as following the rules, keeping data safe, and the costs of setting it into place. As a result, businesses need to think carefully before using the blockchain technology in their financial management.
