Abstract

This study aims to identify, analyze, and summarize the findings of various previous studies on the use of technology in early childhood education (ECE) through the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method. This method was chosen because it provides a comprehensive understanding by reviewing various relevant articles, journals, and research reports. The SLR process begins with the identification of inclusion and exclusion criteria, which are used to select the studies analyzed. Data were collected from various sources such as academic journals, conference articles, and research reports in the last five years. The main focus of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of technology in supporting early childhood learning, as well as the challenges and opportunities faced by educators in integrating technology into the ECE curriculum. The results of the study indicate that technology has great potential to transform ECE education, increasing children's engagement, creativity, and learning abilities. However, the success of technology integration is highly dependent on the readiness of educators to utilize technology effectively and adequate access to technological devices. Therefore, educator training and the provision of appropriate infrastructure are essential to maximize the benefits of technology. Further research is needed to explore the best strategies for integrating technology into the ECE curriculum and to identify policies that can support the widespread implementation of technology in the ECE sector.

Abstract

Teacher competence in managing classroom learning through differentiation will also affect students' perceptions of the effectiveness of science learning that has been implemented. However, not all educators can implement differentiation learning techniques well. Many teachers also prefer to use the same teaching method for all students without considering their individual differences. This study aims to describe teachers' perceptions of the implementation of differentiated instruction strategies and analyze the opportunities for their application in science learning within the Merdeka Curriculum. The method used is a systematic literature review with PRISMA analysis of 10 relevant articles. The results show that teachers have a positive perception of differentiated instruction, recognizing the importance of addressing students' individual needs to create a conducive classroom environment. Differentiation strategies based on local strengths have been proven to enhance content, context, and product aspects of science literacy. Prior to implementation, students' science literacy was classified as very low in content (12.78%) and context/product (28.75%), and moderate in process (68.20%). After implementation, content increased to 70.62% (good), context or product to 43.87% (low), and science process skills to 77.18% (good). The main challenges include limited teacher competence and inadequate facilities, which must be addressed through continuous training and the use of technology.

Abstract

Improving critical thinking is an essential 21st-century learning skill, and educational products that nurture it help students advance. Research identifies problem-based learning (PBL) as a highly effective instructional model for fostering critical thinking. This article reviews journal publications from 2019–2025 that explore the development of science teaching materials using the PBL model and their impact on students’ critical thinking abilities. The study aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the types of PBL-based science teaching materials, their effectiveness, and their influence on critical thinking skills. Using the PRISMA literature review method, the researchers conducted identification and screening of abstracts and full texts from 1,200 journal articles, ultimately selecting 12 relevant studies. Analysis of these studies indicates that PBL-based science teaching materials significantly enhance students’ critical thinking, particularly at junior high and high school levels. The findings underscore that integrating PBL into science teaching materials supports inquiry, problem-solving, and analytical reasoning. Consequently, adopting PBL-based resources in classrooms can serve as a strategic approach to strengthen students’ critical thinking processes and better prepare them for complex real-world challenges. This review affirms that PBL-driven science instruction is a powerful tool for 21st-century education.

Abstract

Chemistry laboratory activities at the senior high school level are essential for developing students’ conceptual understanding but simultaneously pose significant occupational safety and health (OSH) risks when not supported by adequate safety literacy and systematic risk management. Despite this urgency, accessible and structured learning resources that explicitly address laboratory risk management in school contexts remain limited. This study aimed to develop an e-book on risk management for high school chemistry laboratories as an innovative digital resource to strengthen students’ safety awareness and support the implementation of OSH practices during chemistry practicums. Using a Research and Development approach with the 4D model, the e-book was designed, validated by experts, and tested for readability and practicality. The results indicate that the e-book achieved very high validity in terms of content, language, and media, was highly readable (95.6%), and demonstrated strong practicality for classroom use (82.5% by teachers and 96.8% by students). These findings suggest that the developed e-book is an effective and feasible digital learning resource that can contribute to fostering a stronger culture of safety and risk awareness in high school chemistry laboratories.

Abstract

Textile industry wastewater contains synthetic dyes that are resistant to natural degradation, toxic, and capable of polluting aquatic environments. One commonly used dye is Remazol Red RB (RRRB), which is stable and difficult to remove through conventional treatment methods. Therefore, an effective approach is needed to break down this pollutant. This study aimed to develop and characterize a zinc oxide/hydroxyapatite (ZnO/HA) nanocomposite as a photocatalyst for degrading RRRB dye and to evaluate its photocatalytic performance under UV and visible light irradiation. The ZnO/HA nanocomposite was prepared by mixing ZnO and HA at a 1:1 ratio, followed by the addition of a small amount of water. The mixture was milled for 24 hours to obtain nanoscale particles. The resulting material was calcined at 700 °C and characterized using FTIR, XRD, and SEM-EDX to determine its physicochemical properties. Photocatalytic activity tests of the ZnO/HA nanocomposite toward RRRB dye solution were conducted in a batch system under 50-watt UV and visible light irradiation. The operational variables examined included catalyst dosage, initial pH, and dye concentration. FTIR analysis showed characteristic absorption bands of ZnO and HA, indicating successful formation of the nanocomposite. XRD results revealed a crystal size of 19.67 nm, while SEM-EDX confirmed the presence of Zn, Ca, P, and O elements, consistent with the nanocomposite composition. The degradation efficiency of 300 mL of 50 mg/L of RRRB solution at pH of 5 with 2.0 g of ZnO/HA nanocomposite under 50 watts of UV and visible light in succession was 90.43% and 80.93% for 120 minutes of irradiation.  Copyright © 2026 by Authors, Published by BCREC Publishing Group. Abstract
