Abstract

The very rapid development of technology demands changes in all aspects of education. Developing technology encourages teachers to be able to develop learning media. However, in fact, some teachers have not been able to develop the ability to use learning media as learning aids, especially learning evaluation tools. One of the learning media that can be used by teachers to assist learning activities, especially learning evaluation, is the wordwall application. Wordwall is a piece of software that works online and is used as a game-based learning medium for kahoots, quizzes, and so on. The wordwall application is unique as an assessment tool in the form of multiple choice questions (quizzes). Crossword puzzles, select cards or images according to match, match the correct answer (match search), etc., so that assessment tools can be used for assessmentdaily.

Abstract

Self-regulated learning (SRL) is a crucial competency for students in the 21st century, enabling learners to plan, monitor, regulate, and reflect on their own learning processes. However, many junior high school students still experience difficulties in developing strong self-regulation skills. This study aims to examine the effect of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) integrated with Artificial Intelligence (AI) on students’ self-regulated learning tendencies. The research employed a quasi-experimental method using a one-group posttest-only design. The study was conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Telaga Biru during the first semester of the 2025/2026 academic year, involving 60 seventh-grade students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a self-regulated learning questionnaire based on indicators of goal setting, learning strategies, self-monitoring, time and resource management, motivational control, and self-reflection. Data analysis was carried out using the Kolmogorov–Smirnov normality test, followed by a One-Sample t-Test for normally distributed data and the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test for non-normally distributed data. The results showed that students’ SRL scores after the implementation of PBL integrated with AI were in the good to high category and significantly exceeded the predetermined reference value (p < 0.05). Strong tendencies were observed in the forethought, motivational belief, and self-reflection dimensions, while help-seeking and collaboration showed relatively lower scores. These findings indicate that PBL integrated with AI has a positive and significant effect on students’ self-regulated learning tendencies. The study concludes that integrating AI as pedagogical scaffolding within PBL can effectively support the development of self-regulated learning, provided that social interaction and collaborative learning are intentionally strengthened.

Abstract

Education should not merely provide students with knowledge; rather, learning in educational institutions serves as a process for acquiring knowledge, skillss, and competencies.  The researchers conducted preliminary research to identify teacher and students need in biology learning, as well as the levels of students' critical thinking skills, creative thinking skills, and collaboration skills. The instruments used in this research are questionnaire and test sheets. The data that has been collected will then be analyzed both quantitatively and qualitatively. The sample of the study are biology teacher and students in Fase D at SMAN 1 Kabila, Gorontalo Regency. Based on the analysis of student and teacher needs in biology learning, it can be concluded that the majority of students find the learning process difficult and monotonous. Although students exhibit good collaboration habits, 80% of them have never engaged in projects, and they desire the integration of technology into teaching materials. The results of critical and creative thinking ability tests indicate a "very low" category, highlighting the need for intervention to improve these skills, possibly through the implementation of active learning methods such as Project Oriented Problem Based Learning (POPBL). Therefore, the development of digital teaching materials, such POPBL-based E-Module (Project Oriented Problem Based Learning), is essential to enhance students' understanding, engagement, and critical thinking skills, creative thinking skills, as well as collaborative skills at SMAN 1 Kabila, Gorontalo Regency in biology learning.

Abstract

This study addresses the persistent challenge of low critical thinking skills and inadequate conceptual understanding among junior high school students in science, particularly concerning ecology and biodiversity topics that require contextual relevance. The core gap identified is the lack of integration of contextually relevant and visually engaging teaching materials to support the development of these competencies. The research aimed to develop, validate, and evaluate the effectiveness of infographic-based learning media that integrates local environmental issues to enhance these two competencies in Grade VII students. Employing a Research and Development (R&D) approach, the study utilized the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) to systematically design and test the learning product. The implementation phase used a One-Group Pre-test–Post-test Design involving 17 students      from a public junior high school located in Gorontalo Regency, Gorontalo Province. The developed media achieved an average expert validation score of 93.74% (Very Valid Category), confirming its quality. Effectiveness analysis using the Normalized Gain (N-Gain) score demonstrated significant improvement in student outcomes: the N-Gain for critical thinking was 0.72 (High Category), and for conceptual understanding, it was 0.77 (High Category). Furthermore, the media was highly practical, with student responses showing an overwhelming 98.1% positive feedback.      Given the demonstrated high levels of validity, practicality, and effectiveness, the use of infographic-based learning media that connects abstract scientific concepts with local environmental contexts is proven to be a robust resource for fostering students' critical thinking skills and conceptual mastery in biology education.

Abstract

Background: Several students experience difficulties in mastering biological classification concepts. To address this issue, a digital E-Flashcard was developed as an instructional medium that supports technology-integrated learning, enhances motivation and comprehension, and offers flexible and practical use. This study evaluates the validity, practicality, and impact on learning outcomes of the E-Flashcard designed for Tenth-grade students at SMA Negeri 2 Gorontalo. Methodology: This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE development model, with a one-group pretest-posttest design involving 20 students from class X4 at SMA Negeri 2 Gorontalo. The instruments used included interview instruments, media and material validation instruments, and pretest and posttest instruments. Findings: The evaluation results indicated that the developed E-Flashcard met high feasibility standards, with material validation reaching 95.33% and media validation achieving 91%, both categorized as very feasible. Practicality assessment showed highly positive responses, reflected by a 98.5% score from teachers and 86% from students, both within the very practical category. Furthermore, analysis of learning improvement based on pretest and posttest scores yielded an N-gain value of 0.55, which falls into the moderate improvement level. These findings confirm that the E-Flashcard media satisfies the criteria of validity and practicality and demonstrates a meaningful improvement in student learning outcomes during limited-scale implementation. Contributions: This research advances digital biology instruction by introducing and empirically validating an ADDIE-based E-Flashcard model that enhances students’ conceptual understanding of biological classification, offering a scalable alternative to conventional printed flashcards in secondary education
