Abstract

Abstract

Patient safety and prevalence of nosocomial infections are directly related to the problem of airborne germs in the operating room. If not properly controlled, airborne microorganisms can increase the risk of surgical problems and prolong the recovery period, thus jeopardizing patient safety. This disease can also be the cause of nosocomial infections. The main purpose of this study was to determine the most common microorganisms found in operating rooms in Indonesia. By collecting and analyzing data from a variety of literature sources, the study provides a deeper understanding of the composition of airborne microorganisms, the factors that influence them, and their implications for clinical practice and hospital policy. This study collected 37 articles filtered according to inclusion and exclusion criteria using the preferred reporting items for systematic review and meta-analysis (PRISMA) model. It was found that Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Escherichia coli became the most frequently occurring microrganisms. The results of this study have consequences that emphasize the need for better hygiene habits, efficient ventilation systems, and increased awareness of infection risks among medical personnel. The findings of this study are expected to contribute to improving the standard of safety and patient care in hospitals in Indonesia.

Abstract

Food safety is an effort to ensure food is safe for consumption, free from physical, chemical, and biological hazards, so that there is no risk of it causing disease if consumed. Creating these conditions is closely related to food safety practices among food handlers. It is necessary to control food safety practices that can be carried out if the determining factors are known in advance. Thus, this study aims to summarize and describe the determinants of food safety practices among food handlers based on previous research articles. This study uses the literature review method to identify research articles that are relevant to the research objectives. The keywords used are "food safety practices" and "food handler" from the PubMed, SAGE, and Wiley databases. Search articles using the PRISMA method. Of the 974 identified articles, 10 met the inclusion criteria and research objectives. The results obtained identified 12 variables related to food safety practices, namely food safety knowledge (7 articles), education level (6 articles), food safety training/courses (5 articles), attitudes towards food safety (4 articles), household income/wealth household (3 articles), work experience (2 articles), sanitation facilities (2 articles), work status (1 article), marital status (1 article), ethnicity (1 article), and registered food seller (1 article). It can be concluded that the dominant determinants of food safety practices among food handlers are knowledge of food safety, level of education, food safety training or courses, attitudes towards food safety, household income or wealth, work experience, and sanitation facilities.

Abstract

Introduction: Indonesia is one of the countries with the second highest TB burden globally. Towards TB elimination by 2030, the government prepared a framework for accelerating the TB program, including active case finding (ACF), as an active effort to find people at risk and with symptoms of TB through contact tracing and screening activities. Screening using chest X-rays (CXR) is considered more sensitive than the symptom approach, considering that most TB patients do not have typical TB symptoms. In 2023, ACF activities in the City of Yogyakarta will be developed using an adaptation model. Method: Quantitative descriptive research describing the results of ACF activities consists of the characteristics of ACF participants, types of target groups, CXR screening, TCM examination, and ACF's contribution to the TB control program. Results: With the adaptation model, the role of Puskesmas and cross-sectors was prioritized in ACF. ACF was carried out 88 times with 7,423 participants; 1,403 people were suspected of having TB (18.90%), and 83 new TB cases were found. Most participants were women (54.41%), age group 55 - ≤65 years (23.19%), and came from the general public (56.31%). The highest percentage of suspected discoveries and TB cases came from the Pakualaman Health Center. Conclusion: With the adaptation model in Yogyakarta City, ACF contributed to finding 22.92% of suspected TB and 5.28% of TB cases of the target that had to be found. Collaborative efforts between sectors need to be made to mobilize the right target groups for ACF locations, such as PLHIV, household contacts, DM patients, toddlers with nutritional problems, groups of male smokers, and alcohol users.

Abstract

Stunting was a chronic nutritional problem that affected the growth and development of children in Indonesia. The prevalence of stunting in Indonesia decreased from 24.4% in 2021 to 21.6% in 2022. However, this figure was still above the national target of 14%. The government implemented the Simultaneous Measurement and Intervention Movement to Prevent Stunting program to accelerate the reduction of stunting. This research aimed to describe the implementation of the Simultaneous Measurement and Intervention Program for Stunting Management in the Banguntapan III Public Health Center area. This study used a qualitative descriptive method with research subjects that included the Stunting Reduction Acceleration Team, cadres, health teams, pregnant women, children aged 0-59 months, and prospective brides in the Banguntapan III Public Health Center working area. Data were collected through participatory observation and documentation, and analyzed narratively. The results showed that the implementation of the Simultaneous Measurement and Intervention Program for Stunting Management in the Banguntapan III Public Health Center had been optimal but required improvements in several areas. Despite good coordination, the target number achieved was only 99.12%. Data showed an increase in stunting cases after the program. In April, there were 24 cases of "Short" stunting, which increased to 37 in July, and cases of "Very Short" stunting increased from 0 to 3. Major obstacles included suboptimal toddler sweeping, ineffective cross-sectoral roles, and inadequate socialization. In-depth evaluation and strategy adjustments were necessary to enhance the program's effectiveness. It was recommended to improve toddler sweeping, increase cross-sectoral coordination, and strengthen program socialization through social media and community engagement to enhance the effectiveness of stunting management.
