Abstract

Background: As one of the vulnerable groups to be infected by COVID-19, healthcare workers are required to obey the hospital rules and protocols. However, it may remain challenging for them, especially related to the provision of using personal protective equipment. Objective: This study examined the obedience of medical personnel to personal protective equipment in preventing the transmission of COVID-19 at PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Methods: This cross-sectional study examined 259 medical personnel (medical doctors, nurses, and midwives) in the hospital. Descriptive statistics, Chi-Square test, and multiple logistic regression were used for data analysis. Results: The majority of respondents were nurses (80.3%) and female (63.3%). Those who had a poor attitude would be three times more likely to have poor obedience to using personal protective equipment (Adj. OR: 2.81, 95% CI: 1.52 - 5.19). Sex, age, length of work, level of knowledge, level of motivation, and facility support were not correlated with obedience to using personal protective equipment. Conclusion: The finding reported that many medical personnel were not obedient to using personal protective equipment because their response to disease prevention was poor. The results can be used for further intervention and education or training programs for medical personnel.

Abstract

BPOM findings from 2006-2010 showed that as many as 48% of school children's snacks did not meet food safety requirements because they contained dangerous chemicals. Snacking behaviour is influenced by several factors, including knowledge, attitudes, peers, and family involvement in getting used to breakfast or providing food from home to be taken to school. This research analyses the factors influencing snack food selection behaviour among high school students. The method in this research is to examine literature reviews with the study sources used coming from published journals in Indonesia and having an ISSN relating to research. As a result of research from 124 articles reviewed, five reports were finally obtained; it was found that there was an influence of knowledge, attitudes, health education and the role of authoritarianism on high school children's snack choices. Shows that knowledge, attitudes, health education and authoritarian roles influence food choices in children or adolescents; there are three factors, namely: (1) predisposing factors, namely factors that facilitate and underlie the occurrence of specific behaviour; (2) supporting factors that enable particular behaviour to occur, such as information media, health service infrastructure, and (3) reinforcing factors are factors that strengthen the occurrence of specific behaviour (the role of parents and the role of teachers).

Abstract

Abstract

The increase in the elderly brings consequences, including a higher risk of disease. Inappropriate nutritional intake is also known as one of the risk factors related to the elderly's non-communicable diseases, and nutritional intervention is essential to improve the elderly nutritional status and quality of life. It was an interventional study with a before-after one-group approach. The study was conducted for three months (October-December 2021) in three social retirement homes. The intervention given was supplementation with additional protein sources and snacks each day. The biochemistry profiles were taken 2 times: before and after three months of intervention, comprised of HbA1c, lipid, transferrin, creatinine, and blood pressure level. The data will be analyzed for its normality before being processed with paired t-test or Wilcoxon signed rank based on the normality results. The analysis results show that there are significantly lower transferrin levels (p=0.040), an increase in cholesterol level (p=0.000), and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) level increased from 114.05±32.03 to 125.94±31.41 (p=0.000). There is also a remarkable decrease in hemoglobin (p=0.005) and high-density lipoprotein (HDL) levels. Conversely, there are an increase in HbA1C (p=0.007) and triglyceride level (p=0.005). There is no significant difference in creatinine level. We conclude that nutrition interventions have a significant effect on elderly blood profiles. However, to achieve an improvement, the study should consider physical activity and other variables that might be altering the results.
