Abstract

Background: Physical fitness can be defined as the body's body's ability or capacity to perform all forms of physical activity in daily life without excessive fatigue. Everyone must be physically healthy to carry out activities effectively and efficiently. Based on the results of observations that were made in October 2023 on 15 students from randomly selected research locations, it is found that 13 out of 15 students need physical fitness of less than 60 VO2MAX. This is because these eight students rarely do physical activity and more often play games in their spare time; besides that, there are 9 out of 15 students who do not have breakfast before going to school. This is another factor causing students to lack physical fitness. Sokowaten Baru Primary School has adequate learning facilities. Still, there needs to be improvements for physical fitness education, such as sports equipment that has been damaged and cannot be used compared to other schools in Yogyakarta City.Research Purposes: This study aimed to determine the relationship between macronutrient intake and physical fitness in students at Sokowaten Baru Primary School, Bantul Regency.Research Methods: The research design used was cross-sectional. The population was 432 students, and the sample size was 59 respondents. The study was conducted by proportional random sampling with sampling criteria aged 10-11 years. Data were collected by completing a 24-hour food recall questionnaire and the Harvard test.Research Result: The results showed a relationship between carbohydrate (p=0.003), protein (p=0.001), fat intake (p=0.924), and physical fitness level. Conclusion: It was concluded that carbohydrates and proteins are associated with a physical condition. However, there is no relationship between fat intake and physical fitness level.

Abstract

Introduction: Microbial contamination in healthcare facilities, particularly in outpatient rooms, raises the risk of nosocomial infections and endangers the health of both patients and personnel. The purpose of this study is to compare the efficacy of three sterilizing methods—ultraviolet (UV) light, fogging, and drymist—in lowering bacterial counts and microbial species in university outpatient dental hospital. Methods: This study uses a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest procedure. This design involves assessing outcomes before and after sterilization in the same group to evaluate the intervention’s effects. Samples were collected before and after the sterilization process. Sterile swabs were used to gather microbial samples from surfaces such as examination tables, walls, and medical equipment within the outpatient area. The data were analyzed using paired t-tests and ANOVA. Results and Discussion: All three sterilizing methods were effective in lowering microbial counts, with the UV approach showing the greatest decrease (83.9%), followed by drymist (79.6%) and fogging (63.4%). However, ANOVA findings revealed no significant difference in effectiveness across the three techniques (p = 0.979). Nonetheless, certain bacterial species that are more resistant to sterilization survived after treatment. Conclusion: UV, fogging, and dry mist sterilizing technologies reduce microbial counts in comparable ways, although their performance may be impacted by ambient conditions and the types of bacteria presents. A mix of sterilizing procedures may be required for best results.

Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between household characteristics and access to sufficient water in Kyrgyzstan, utilizing secondary data from the 2023 Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS). Employing a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design, the analysis encompassed univariate, bivariate (Chi-square test), and multivariate (binary logistic regression) methods. The sample comprised 6,615 households, with findings indicating that most households are of productive age, possess secondnoary to higher education, reside in rural areas, and have access to sufficient water. Economic and regional distributions within the sample are relatively balanced, reflecting the broader population's diversity. Multivariate analysis revealed that access to sufficient water is significantly influenced by regional location, household welfare level, and ethnicity; regions such as Issyk-Kul, Bishkek, and Jalal-Abad exhibit higher access, while Talas and Chui show lower access. Demographic factors like gender, age, and place of residence did not significantly affect water access. These findings underscore the necessity for targeted policies that address disparities in water access, focusing on disadvantaged regions and low-income households to promote equitable access to sufficient water

Abstract

Indonesian traditional food is highly diverse in terms of types, shapes, and colors. In the Tastura Square area, a wide variety of street food is available and widely consumed. Consumer behavior in choosing street food is generally influenced by affordable prices and good taste. This study aimed to determine the relationship between education level, knowledge, attitudes, age, gender, and social media with consumer behavior in selecting street food in the Tastura Square area, Praya City. A cross-sectional study design was used, involving 100 respondents selected through a simple random sampling technique. Data were collected using questionnaires and checklist sheets. Data analysis was conducted using univariate and bivariate methods, with the Chi-square test employed for statistical analysis. The results showed no significant relationship between education level (p = 1.000), attitude (p = 1.000), age (p = 1.000), and gender (p = 1.000) with consumer behavior. However, a significant relationship was found between knowledge (p = 0.006) and social media (p = 0.002) with consumer behavior in choosing street food. Therefore, it is recommended that viral content promoting healthy food choices be intensified on social media to raise awareness among consumers when selecting street snacks.
