Abstract

The introduction of agencification in state universities, marked by the provision of varying degrees of autonomy, aims to improve service quality and operational efficiency. This study investigates the efficiency of state universities through the lens of agencification, i.e., the use of semi-autonomous or autonomous agencies to deliver public services. The Analytical Hierarchy Process is employed to identify and prioritize key criteria influencing university performance. Drawing on semi-structured interviews and focus group discussions with university managers, policymakers, and academics, we reveal twelve critical factors that contribute to efficiency. The findings reveal an urgent need for innovation across leadership, human resource management, information technology, strategic planning, and governance. The findings highlight the role of visionary leadership, effective human resource management, and stringent internal controls as the dominant criteria. We explore the challenges faced by state universities, including the complexities of autonomy models and bureaucratic constraints. The results imply that while university autonomy can enhance operational efficiency, it must be balanced with accountability mechanisms to prevent disparities. This research contributes to the efficiency scholarship by explaining actionable insights for policymakers and university managers to improve service quality in contemporary governance frameworks.

Abstract

Previous research has validated teachers' positive attitudes toward incorporating digital technology into general English classes, but little research has been undertaken in vocational universities, where English is classified as English for Specific Purposes. As a response, this study explored vocational university teachers’ perceptions of integrating digital technology in teaching English by considering years of teaching experience. Framed by a mixed-method research design with surveys and interviews, it engaged 120 vocational university teachers in Indonesia. Quantitative data were examined using descriptive statistics, paired-sample t-tests, and one-way ANOVA, while thematic analysis was applied to qualitative data. The analysis showed that 66.5% teachers perceived advantageously toward digital technology integration in the teaching of English to vocational university students. The findings disclosed that most participants perceived digital technology integration positively in terms of helping teachers teach English, increasing teachers’ creativity, assisting students in learning English, and supporting teachers’ professional development. Yet, 25% of the participants stated they were neutral, while 8.5% disagreed with the majority. It might be caused by challenges that still arose during technology integration in EFL classes. Further, there were no significant differences in statistical analysis comparing the teachers’ perception based on teaching experience. Several suggestions for teachers, vocational institutions, and educational policymakers were presented to shed light on vocational teachers’ professional development, which could improve the vocational education system.

Abstract

Education plays a very important and strategic role in shaping human resources that are productive, innovative, and have personalities under cultural values. In addition to providing cognitive, affective, and psychomotor values to every citizen, education is also used as a tool to transform values that are expected to be beneficial in the life of society, nation, and state [5]. Gender bias is favoring one gender in social life or public policy. Gender bias in education is an educational reality that favors one particular gender, which causes gender inequality. Various forms of gender inequality that occur in various fields of community life are also represented in the world of education. Educational processes and institutions are seen as playing a major role in socializing and preserving the values and perspectives that underlie the emergence of various gender inequalities in society. The concept of education often appears in literary works. One form of literature that contains about education is drama. Drama is a record of everyday events that are projected onto the stage. In line with that [1] mention that Learning in drama is process-oriented, a state of change that occurs in time and space, which happens within double frames of reality and fiction. Drama learning is process-oriented, with changes in time and space, which frame real and fantasy events. Drama is no different from other literary works, such as novels or short stories. It contains certain issues that the author wants to convey to the reader or audience. The object will be studied by the researchers is Nano Riantiarno's Sampek Engtay, a feminist drama or a drama that talks about women. This drama is very thick with the nuances of feminist criticism, namely the marginalization of education. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. In this research, qualitative information is described carefully and analytically. The description includes forms of criticism of the unfair treatment received by women in the field of education. The approach used in this research is feminism. This approach is used in order to interpret the deep meaning of the literary works studied in relation to people's lives. This is taken based on the assumption that basically literary works are the embodiment of people's lives. Thus the interpretation of the meaning in this literary work is a manifestation of that society.

Abstract

Lampung province is a region with a strategic location as a gateway entrance and exit of the economy from the island of Java to Andalas or vice versa. Beside of that the potential of vast natural resources enough to serve as the foundation and development capital, including potential energy resources. Energy needs from year to year increased significantly. if fixed transport link between the islands of Java and Sumatra realized as expected energy demand will jump dramatically. Currently, most of the energy supply in Lampung are supplied from other areas such as Java, and other provinces in Sumatra. Therefore, it is necessary to forecast energy supply for several years to get the proper planning of energy supply to meet the energy needs at times to come. In this research study about projected energy supply in the region of Lampung using software LEAP (Long-range Energy Alternative Planning system) version 2008. The study is based on projections of existing energy needs and based on data from existing energy potential in the province of Lampung, such as coal, geothermal, biogas cow dung and buffalo, palm oil biodiesel and bioethanol sugar cane, sweet potatoes and cassava. The results showed that the supply of electricity from 2014 to 2030 was in excess of the electrical energy needs in the area of Lampung because of the operation of geothermal power plants. For biogas sector, projected at the beginning of the year to replace the LPG gas by 12% and at the end of the projection to 8% due to growth in cattle farm and buffalo are very small. For biodiesel sector, provision was 64% at the beginning of the projection, but declined at the end of the projection to 30% due to the growth of oil palm area is very low. In bioethanol sector, from the beginning to the end of the projection is only able to help reduce gasoline consumption by 4%, due to bioethanol are just a mixture so they are less significant. It can be concluded that the new renewable energy which featured in Lampung province are geothermal energy, biogas manure and corn cob gasification. Keywords: energy projection, LEAP model, transformation of energy, renewable energy.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to describe the prophetic value in post-reform modern Javanese novels. This was a qualitative study. The analysis technique used is content analysis. The results showed that post-reform modern Javanese novels contain many prophetic value. Nowadays, many societies abandoned the understanding of prophetic values. The character of society has shifted to become more individualistic and only concerned with the welfare of him-self. It’s due to inappropriate outer cultural filtration. People find a difficulty to sort foreign cultures that are compatible with Indonesian characteristics (especially Javanese Moslem). It needs to get a community guidance to return to his nature as an individual, social, and aware of his position as a servant of Allah swt. This research can be used as a medium to educate people about positive values in life. The prophetic values taught are divided into three dimensions: humanization dimension (ammar ma›ruf), liberation (nahi munkar), and transcendence (tu›minu billah). Meanwhile, theoretically this research can enrich the treasury of knowledge in the field of literature, provide input in noble learning through the medium of literature, and it can be used as a basis for more in-depth research. The character of society has changed to become more individualistic and only concerned with the welfare of him-self. Meanwhile, this research also enriches the treasury of knowledge in the field of literature, as an alternative in moral education through literary media, and can be used as a basis for more in-depth research.
