Abstract

Nasakom and Bhinneka Tunggal Ika are Indonesian political terms that Indonesians and foreign researchers and observers know but still contain a lot of unclear understanding. This study wants to answer this ambiguity, by exploring the existence and essence of Nasakom and then linking it to Bhinneka Tunggal Ika, using philosophical methods. The aim is to find a "new reading" about Nasakom. This research found that Nasakom can only be understood properly through a complete reading, which involves three perspectives at once: from the perspective of Javanese cosmology, because Sukarno was Javanese; from the standpoint of Islamic cosmology, because Sukarno was a Muslim; and from a Western cosmological perspective, because Sukarno was also a modernist who adhered to rationalism. Finally, it was found that the essence of Nasakom embodies the spirit of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika and the principle of unity in diversity. Nasakom became politically bad, because one of its elements, the PKI, used the Nasakom stage to prepare the 30 September 1965 Movement. Still, Nasakom, from the purpose of its formation, was an ethical politics that embraced opposing parties.

Abstract

The study of the philosophy of exclusivism, inclusivism, and pluralism in interreligious dialogue has become increasingly relevant in a globally connected and multicultural context. In Indonesia, particularly within the Tenggerese community in Sukapura, Probolinggo, religious differences are not only a challenge but also an integral part of the unique social dynamics. This research aims to explore how these philosophical concepts manifest in interreligious interactions within this community. The study employs a qualitative research method with a case study approach, involving participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. The findings indicate that while tendencies toward exclusivism still exist among certain groups, significant efforts have been made to strengthen inclusivism and pluralism. Key factors such as traditional leadership, local cultural values, education, and collective experiences in maintaining social harmony play a crucial role in fostering more open and respectful interreligious dialogue. This research contributes by identifying best practices and challenges in managing religious diversity within the Tenggerese community. Furthermore, these findings are expected to serve as a reference for policymakers and practitioners in designing more effective and sustainable interreligious dialogue strategies while reinforcing social harmony based on local wisdom.

Abstract

Self-Directed Learning is an approach that emphasizes student independence in managing the learning process. However, the implementation of Self-Directed Learning faces challenges, especially for students who have limited time and energy to learn optimally. In coastal environments, many students are involved in helping their parents work as fishermen, which has an impact on their physical and mental condition during the learning process. This phenomenon causes some students to appear daydreaming in class, lose focus, and tend to be less active in participating in learning. This research aims to find out what form of strategy and implementation of Self-Directed Learning at MAN 1 Probolinggo is suitable for increasing their active participation in class. This research uses qualitative methods with interviews centered on students, teachers and parents in coastal environments as the main subjects. The research results show that the personal approach significantly increases student activity in class. Teachers who use this approach interact more often directly with students, both individually and in small groups. This interaction creates a comfortable and supportive learning atmosphere, so that students feel more confident to participate actively in learning.

Abstract

The slopes of Mount Bromo in Probolinggo represent a multicultural society grappling with the implementation of religious moderation. The area's distinct geographical and cultural context necessitates a localized approach by integrating local wisdom. This study explores how local traditions foster religious moderation using Peter L. Berger’s theory of social construction-externalization, objectivation, and internalization. A qualitative method was employed, with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. Findings indicate that local wisdom is externalized through cultural practices promoting tolerance, such as gotong royong, and joint religious-cultural ceremonies like Kasada and Melasti. These expressions become objectified as shared rituals and social symbols. These values are internalized through informal education and community socialization, shaping individual and communal attitudes. Integrating local wisdom into religious moderation fosters an inclusive identity, reduces interfaith tensions, and promotes lasting harmony in this diverse society. Viewed through Berger's framework, the process successfully creates sustainable social cohesion. This study concludes that contextualizing religious education through local traditions effectively strengthens multicultural resilience and nurtures peaceful coexistence in rural settings like Mount Bromo.

Abstract

During the past decades, Qiroatul Kutub has been adopted as the learning model, therefore, this study is aimed to explore the development of the Qiroatul Kutub model using the Plickers application and the feasibility of it. Driven by Borg and Galls model of research and development (RnD), the researchers collected the data through documentation of 35 University students including expert assessments of learning method, materials and media. The expert validity test is based on 3 aspects of the module, learning model, and learning media using five scale analysis techniques, namely very good to very poor. From the expert validity test, an average score of 3.7 (A) was obtained, which was very good in terms of modules, learning models, and learning media, while the limited test to 32 student respondents obtained 3.8 (A) or very well from 3 aspects. Then after the revision, field testing was carried out and got an average score of 4 (A) or very good with an increase in student achievement from the pre-test and post-test results of 19.15%, indicating that the development of this learning model is very feasible to use. Drawing on the findings, this study provided an insightful finding on the adoption of Plickers application in Arabic reading skills. Thus, the teacher could incorporate this application to gain better students reading skills.

Abstract

The prevailing criminal law paradigm worldwide remains rooted in the penal system, where offenders are subjected to punitive measures, such as imprisonment, based on their level of guilt. This approach often prioritizes the punishment of the offender while neglecting the needs and rights of the victim. This study examines restorative justice as an alternative method of crime resolution, seeking to address the limitations of the conventional criminal justice system. Through qualitative research and a philosophical juridical approach, the study identifies the legal foundations of restorative justice in Indonesian criminal law, evaluates its challenges, and assesses its effectiveness in reducing judicial inequality and promoting social reconciliation. The findings highlight that restorative justice is reflected in Indonesia’s juvenile justice system, particularly under Law No. 11 of 2012, and is also integrated into the proposed Criminal Code Bill, specifically in Articles 116, 117, and 118. Key challenges to implementation include the retributive nature of the Indonesian legal system, limited understanding among law enforcement officials, and societal concerns over the perceived leniency of non-custodial sentences. However, restorative justice presents significant potential as a progressive solution for resolving criminal acts, contingent on strong commitment from all stakeholders and alignment with Indonesia's socio-cultural context and morality.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to conceptualize and examine the effectiveness of the Relational Triangle of Objectives, Process, and Evaluation in AI-assisted Arabic writing pedagogy. While previous research on generative AI and digital platforms has shown potential for supporting Arabic learners, studies often treated objectives, learning processes, and evaluation as separate domains. This study sought to address this gap by introducing and empirically validating a triangulated framework that integrates the three components into a single pedagogical cycle. Employing a Research and Development (R&D) design based on Borg and Gall’s model, the study combined quantitative and qualitative approaches. Expert validation confirmed the feasibility of the relational triangle, followed by a preliminary trial with 32 students and a field test with 64 students enrolled in an Islamic Religious Education program. Instruments included expert validation sheets, pre- and post-tests, questionnaires, and reflection sheets, all validated through factor analysis and tested for reliability. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, inferential measures, and thematic analysis of student reflections. The findings revealed consistent improvements in students’ Arabic writing competence, with notable gains in grammar, morphology, iʿrāb, vocabulary, and especially in coherence and cohesion. Expert evaluations rated the model as highly feasible, while student responses confirmed its clarity, fairness, and effectiveness. The study demonstrated that improvement was not merely the result of AI use, but of the systematic triangulation of objectives, structured processes, and evaluation feedback. The novelty of this research lies in articulating the Relational Triangle of Objectives, Process, and Evaluation as a dynamic pedagogical framework. By embedding AI tools within a structured instructional design, the model bridges the gap between technological affordances and pedagogical integrity. Its theoretical contribution lies in extending constructivist principles into the digital era, while its practical implication is offering educators a replicable approach for integrating AI responsibly into Arabic writing instruction.
