Abstract

Background: The management of dyspnea in cancer patients still faces various challenges. Non-pharmacological interventions are increasingly recognized as effective, potentially cost-effective, and effective approaches to managing this symptom. Purpose: To identify, evaluate, and analyze evidence regarding the effectiveness of non-pharmacological interventions in managing dyspnea in cancer patients. Method: This systematic review followed PRISMA guidelines and conducted a literature search across five databases (Sage Journals, PubMed, ScienceDirect, Springerlink, and Google Scholar). Inclusion criteria included English-language articles published between 2015 and 2025, with a randomized controlled trial (RCT) or cohort study design. From 59,225 articles identified, 11 studies met the inclusion criteria for analysis. Results: A total of 1,369 cancer patients were analyzed across 10 RCTs and one cohort study. Various non-pharmacological interventions proven effective in managing dyspnea include Tai Chi, aerobic exercise, Respiratory Distress Symptom Intervention (RDSI), Inspiratory Muscle Training (IMT), home-based education programs, and acupuncture. Conclusion: Non-pharmacological interventions can be an important component in the management of dyspnea in cancer patients, significantly contributing to symptom reduction and overall patient well-being.

Abstract

Cancer is a leading cause of death, and survivors face a wide range of therapies and psychological challenges. A key need reported by cancer survivors, particularly gynecological and breast cancer survivors, at the end of their treatment is fear of recurrence, which many factors, including husband support, can influence. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of husband support on fear of recurrence in gynecological and breast cancer survivors. This study was conducted at Ulin Hospital, Banjarmasin, with 211 respondents who underwent outpatient evaluation and had undergone at least one treatment. The research instrument used the Fear of Cancer Recurrence Inventory (FCRI) questionnaire. This study design was cross-sectional. The main findings of this study showed no statistically significant association between husband support and fear of recurrence in gynecological and breast cancer survivors (P-value 0.06). Based on the statistical results, the global score is not significant, but the specific domains show significance there was a specific correlation in one subtype of husband's support (instrumental support, specifically in the contributing factor domain, with a p-value of 0.03 and a correlation coefficient of r=?0.15) with one domain of fear. The conclusion of this study indicates that overall, there is no relationship between husband's support and the contributing factor, but there is a significant relationship between instrumental and important support. This can provide recommendations for further research, including using a longitudinal design to obtain more accurate results.

Abstract

Abstract

Introduction: Domestic violence (DV) is a highly distressing manifestation of gender disparity and a significant worldwide issue affecting women. Exploring the life narratives of domestic violence survivors provides valuable insights into their journey and resilience, encompassing their experiences from childhood/adolescence through marriage to eventual separation from the abuser. Objective: This study is a narrative research endeavour that seeks to investigate the narratives of women who have endured domestic violence. Methods: This study was qualitative study with narrative approach, included four participants who exhibited variations in their work position and education level. The research employed thematic story analysis as its analytical approach. Results: The study yielded three primary themes: the development of personality through parental care, coping strategies and survivor behaviour in the face of violence, and resilience following separation from the perpetrator. The study findings indicated that women who were brought up under authoritarian and authoritative parenting styles showed greater resilience in the face of domestic violence and in the aftermath of parting from the abuser, as compared to women who experienced permissive and 'uninvolved' parenting. Conclusion: This study suggests that the main preventative measures for domestic violence should commence with early childhood parenting. This encompasses the practice of authoritative parenting, inculcating egalitarian ideas, and promoting self-empowerment. Keywords: domestic violence; parenting; resilience

Abstract

Parents play an important role in their children's sexual health education. The purpose of this study was to examine the materials or topics that parentsconvey when providing sexual health education to their children. The study design was an integrative review using the PRISMA flow diagram withthe CoCoPop framework. The databases used were Cochrane, Scopus, and EBSCO Medline. The inclusion criteria for articles were: abstract andfull text, qualitative, quantitative, and mixed- method research journal articles, English language, published between 2020 and 2024, and a population of parents with children aged 0 to 18 years. The JBI tool was used to evaluate the articles. The results of the study found nine articles, including three quantitative articles, four qualitative articles, and two mixed-method articles. The conclusion of this integrative review is that eachparent conveys different topics or materials, depending on the knowledge, abilities, and stigma of the parents and children regarding sex education. The materials most frequently discussed by parents were puberty, safe touching, unsafe pregnancy and abortion, premarital sex, contraception, sexually transmitted infections, reproductive anatomy, and protection from sexual violence. The recommendation from this study is that there is a need for clear guidelines on age- appropriate sexual health education that can be used by parents from various backgrounds.
