Abstract

This study aims to analyze occupational safety in the smoked fish production process through the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) approach in two groups of micro, small, and medium business actors, namely those managed by the Suku Anak Dalam community and those managed by the general public. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a field observation approach and in-depth interviews to identify potential hazards and preventive measures taken at each stage of work. The results of the study indicate that in business units managed by the Suku Anak Dalam community, most work stages have the potential to cause hazards, but are not accompanied by adequate preventive measures. In contrast, in business units of the general public, several basic control measures have been implemented, such as the use of aids, gloves, masks, and protective shoes. This difference indicates a gap in the implementation of occupational safety due to factors of knowledge, culture, and access to information. This study concludes that a culture-based and educational occupational safety approach is needed to increase awareness and prevent work accidents, especially in remote indigenous communities

Abstract

Hypertension is a non-communicable disease whose prevalence is increasing, including among adolescents. Low knowledge and preventive attitudes are factors that contribute to the high incidence. Social media, especially TikTok, as a platform favored by adolescents, can be used as an effective and attractive health promotion media. This study used a pre-experimental design with a one group pretest posttest approach. The sample consisted of 95 students of SMK Negeri 1 Kota Jambi who were selected using a purposive sampling technique. The intervention was carried out through the delivery of educational videos about hypertension through the TikTok platform. Data collection was carried out using a knowledge and attitude questionnaire given before and after the intervention. Data analysis used Wilcoxon signed rank tests. The results of the analysis showed a significant increase in the knowledge and attitude scores of respondents after being given educational intervention through TikTok with a p-value <0.05. This shows that the use of TikTok social media is effective in increasing knowledge and forming positive attitudes of adolescents in preventing hypertension early on. Health promotion through TikTok social media has proven effective in increasing knowledge and changing adolescent attitudes towards early prevention of hypertension. TikTok's interactive and easily accessible media is a relevant and interesting educational tool for adolescents, so it can be used as an innovative health promotion strategy in efforts to prevent non-communicable diseases such as hypertension.

Abstract

The Clean and Healthy Living Behavior Program (PHBS) is a crucial government effort designed to enhance public health by promoting behavioral change. A key indicator of this program is not smoking indoors. Data from the Pakuan Baru Community Health Center in Jambi City in 2023 reveals that achievement of this indicator remains alarmingly low, at 40.95%, significantly below the national target of 72%. This substantial gap underscores the urgent necessity for an in-depth evaluation of the PHBS program's implementation at the household level. This investigation utilized a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data collection was comprehensive, involving in-depth interviews, Focus Group Discussions (FGD), field observations, and documentation review. Informants included the Head of the Pakuan Baru Community Health Center, health promotion educators, and community members within the center's working area. The study findings indicate that the PHBS program's implementation has not been optimal. The primary obstacles identified stem from limited human resources and funding, coupled with a mismatch between central and regional indicators. Despite these challenges, the research noted positive behavioral changes in some families who have successfully adopted the habit of not smoking indoors. The strategies employed for the PHBS program on the smoke-free indoors indicator have been diverse but consistently face hurdles related to local culture and long-standing community habits. While initial behavioral shifts are evident in certain households, a more targeted and specific approach is critical to amplify the program’s effectiveness. Future interventions must prioritize improved education, stronger cross-sector support, and the optimization of health cadres’ roles as pivotal factors in successfully achieving smoke-free households.
