Abstract

This study examines the influence of green investment, green strategy, tax avoidance, and firm value on carbon emission disclosure among companies listed in the ESGSKEHATI index in Indonesia. Using secondary data from annual and sustainability reports, the analysis applies a random effects panel regression to assess how environmental and financial factors drive corporate transparency in disclosing carbon information. The findings reveal that both green investment and green strategy have a positive and significant impact on the extent of carbon emission disclosure, indicating that proactive environmental initiatives and sustainability-oriented management contribute to improved corporate accountability. Conversely, tax avoidance and firm value show no significant effect, suggesting that environmental disclosure is more closely linked to sustainability commitment than to fiscal or market incentives. The study emphasizes the strategic importance of integrating environmental responsibility into corporate governance for long-term credibility and investor confidence.

Abstract

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to deploy, and commission decentralized drinking-water service points for a river-dependent community on Kemarau Island, Palembang, supporting Sustainable Development Goal 6 by expanding access to treated water at low operating cost. A needs-based field procedure included a site survey, raw-water intake assessment, demand and electrical-load estimation, UF–solar pumping system design, component selection, and installation of a 300 Wp photovoltaic array (3×100 Wp), a 100 Ah battery, a controller/inverter unit, a 450 W pump, an ultrafiltration (UF) unit, and 250 L/600 L storage tanks. The system then underwent commissioning tests (leak checks, pump start–stop tests, and continuous-run trials), operator training, and formal handover to the neighbourhood association. Results showed stable operation of the intake pump–UF pump–storage tank series. The 250 L treated-water tank filled within 20–30 minutes, indicating an effective flow rate of 8.3–12.5 L/min (≈500–750 L/h). Water appeared clearer and odourless, and pH increased from 5.5 (raw water) to 6.9 (treated water). The system demonstrated service readiness and initial treatment performance and may reduce reliance on grid/diesel pumping; however, routine logs and scheduled laboratory testing for turbidity and microbiological indicators are required to verify long-term water safety.

Abstract

Gelatin, a valuable biopolymer, is commonly derived from animal by-products such as fish skin, providing a sustainable alternative to traditional bovine and porcine sources. The extraction process is influenced by factors like acid type and temperature, which impact both yield and quality. This study aimed to compare the effects of citric acid and acetic acid, at two temperatures (50C and 60C), on the gelatin extracted from yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares) skin. The extracted gelatin was evaluated for yield, proximate composition, functional groups using FTIR, and surface morphology through SEM. Results indicated that acetic acid produced a significantly higher yield than citric acid at both temperatures, with the highest yield (10.10%) at 50C and the lowest (2.46%) from citric acid at 60C. Gelatin extracted with acetic acid also had higher protein content and lower moisture and ash levels. FTIR analysis confirmed the presence of characteristic gelatin functional groups, including Amide I, II, and III. SEM images showed a denser and more uniform structure in acetic acid-extracted gelatin, while gelatin extracted with citric acid had a more porous and irregular surface. SDS-PAGE analysis revealed stronger protein bands for gelatin extracted with acetic acid, indicating higher protein content and a more efficient extraction process. Both acid-extracted gelatins showed -chains and -chains, characteristic of denatured collagen. In conclusion, acetic acid proved to be more effective than citric acid in producing higher yield and superior quality gelatin from yellowfin tuna skin. Further studies should assess the gel strength and amino acid composition of the extracted gelatin. Keywords:environmental chemistrybelow waterbiopolymergelatinmarine chemistrywaste valorizationyellowfin tuna

Abstract

Religious traditions in Islamic educational institutions occupy a strategic position in shaping the spiritual character of students. One tradition that has developed at Madrasah Jam'iyah Mahmudiyah is the recitation of Majmu' Syarif, which is regularly practiced by students and teachers. This study aims to examine the role of the Majmu' Syarif recitation tradition as a medium for the internalization of spiritual values at the madrasah. A qualitative approach with descriptive methods was employed in this study. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving teachers, students, and madrasah administrators. The findings indicate that the regular practice of Majmu' Syarif recitation does not merely serve as a means of spiritual guidance, but also produces observable changes in student behavior. These changes include greater discipline in attending religious activities, active participation in congregational worship, and the growth of mutual respect and solidarity within the school environment. Students also demonstrated an improved understanding of sincerity as a value and developed the habit of prayer in their daily lives. This activity further functions as an effective non-formal learning medium through direct practice and sustained habituation. The tradition of reciting Majmu' Syarif has been shown to make a concrete contribution to the internalization of spiritual values, as reflected in measurable shifts in students' attitudes and behavior within the madrasah environment.
