Abstract

This study aims to review the level of awareness of business zakat and its impact on business progress. The data for this research originated from the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSME) business actors in Kartasura Subdistrict, Central Java, Indonesia. This study uses a qualitative approach to explore the awareness of business zakat and its impact on business progress. The open-ended interviews with a single case study from micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in the Kartasura sub-district, Central Java, Indonesia, were executed for data collection. 10 MSME businessmen were interviewed. The data was evaluated using the interpretative approach of the deductive method. The results showed the authors' deductive reasoning from the interview participants, explaining the informants' knowledge regarding zakat from commercial businesses and the impacts that might correspond to their business progress. This research underscores the importance of zakat awareness among MSME businessmen in Indonesia to further practice zakat in their businesses. This research recommended that MSME businesspeople need to know how to boost their zakat knowledge. MSME players must also include their staff to grasp their duties and the social purpose of zakat compliance, which will boost business development. Zakat management coordinators like BAZNAS must pay attention to MSMEs' compliance and zakat literacy because many sectors of the Indonesian economy still rely on them.

Abstract

Zakat has similarities with taxes but also differs in several respects. Zakat is an Islamic commandment, while taxes are a government order; and zakat aims to meet the needs of the poor, while taxes aim to meet the expenditure of society as a whole. Companies that only pay taxes and companies that pay taxes and zakat have many differences such as in profitability and capital structure. Most Muslims are busy with tax matters for fear of being punished for the crime of tax evasion. But they forget Allah's right in wealth and anyone who refuses to fulfill it is unlawful. Contemporary application of zakat should be a concern of the people.

Abstract

ABSTRACT   This study aimed to analyze the influence of variable factors in the UTAUT2 (Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology) model on behavioral intention to use CWM (Crowdfunding-Waqf Model) in the Kitabisa.com application. The population used in this study were active users of the Kitabisa.com application, which are spread throughout Indonesia. Data collection techniques in this study used survey techniques by distributing questionnaires online to 174 respondents. The sampling technique used in this study was purposive sampling, which is a sampling technique with certain criteria. This study used the SEM-PLS analysis technique. The results of this study indicate that the Effort Expectancy (EE) and Habit (HB) variables have a significant positive effect on behavioral intention to use CWM (Crowdfunding-Waqf Model) in the Kitabisa.com application, thus wakif really considers the ease of use of  technology and habits as a determining factor in the adoption of a technology, while 5 other variables, namely Performance Expectancy (PE), Price Value (PV), Social Influence (SI), Hedonic Motivation (HM), and Facilitating Condition (FC) variables have no significant positive effect on behavioral intention to use CWM (Crowdfunding-Waqf Model). The reason of these 5 variables are not significant is because the test results from the Hypothesis Test showed a number that was greater than the significance level of 5% or 0.05. Thus, the dependent variable in the form of Behavioral Intention to Use is only influenced by the Effort Expectancy (EE) and Habit (HB) variables. The contribution of this research is to encourage the policy makers to make policies or laws and regulations that can optimize the benefits of developing the waqf crowdfunding model (CWM) and protect all processes related to the use of productive waqf assets whose funds are collected from the Kitabisa.com application. Keywords: Crowdfunding Waqf Model, Kitabisa.com Application, Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology, Productive Waqf ABSTRAK Peneltian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh faktor variabel di dalam model UTAUT2 (Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology) terhadap behvioral intention to use CWM (Crowdfunding-Waqf Model) pada aplikasi Kitabisa.com. Abstract

This research attempted to explore the determinants of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) compliance behavior in paying zakat (alms). This study involved business owners (SMEs) in the city of Mataram as the population and 176 people as the sample. The data were collected through online survey instruments employing the purposive sampling method. The testing technique and data analysis utilized Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). Hence, the findings discovered that zakat literacy, Islamic egalitarianism, and moral norms influence the intention of SMEs owners to pay zakat. On the other hand, intention affects the owner's choice and compliance to pay zakat. This study is essential for zakat institutions to have a new strategy to encourage SMEs owners to pay zakat, considering the great potential in Indonesia. Distribution of zakat funds to asnaf (noun group of people worthy of receiving a Muslim tithe) fairly and equitably will attract more owners to pay their zakat through zakat institutions. Transparency and fairness in the distribution of zakat funds can increase the level of trust of SMEs owners in zakat institutions.

Abstract

Background: Over the last five years, transactions and warehouse receipt utilization have shown a significant decline. In 2023, there was a recorded growth of -30% in warehouse receipt financing, while the growth in warehouse receipt issuance was -25.15%. This condition indicates that Indonesia's warehouse receipt system management is not optimal. Purpose: This study aimed to provide an overview of Indonesia's warehouse receipt system (WRS) by analyzing issues that hindered its development and formulating solutions to tackle those issues.Design/methodology/approach: This research employed a systematic literature review (SLR) approach. Scopus and Sinta indexed journals were used, from which we selected 33 of 378 previous studies. We divided the findings of this study into internal and external problems and solutions.Finding/Result: The findings of this study were divided into internal and external problems and solutions. Internal issues included farmers not meeting the minimum deposit requirements, lack of awareness of the WRS, limited access to WRS, and competitive costs. Meanwhile, external problems included a distant warehouse location from the production site, inadequate facilities, poor management quality, limited availability of warehouses that met standards, and government support. Internal solutions included establishing a cooperative body, increasing production output through smart farming, providing access to financial capital, education, and socialization of WRS, and government subsidies to reduce operational costs. Meanwhile, external solutions consisted of building a warehouse near the production site, repairing facilities, training for warehouse management, coordinating with financial institutions, and accelerating policies on developing WRS in Indonesia. Conclusion: The most frequently discussed problem was that farmers had to bear costs such as rental fees, transportation fees, processing fees, and insurance fees. To strengthen farmer groups, the government needed to provide farmers with bailout funds and capital assistance. Stakeholders could use the study's findings to formulate policy recommendations to aid in the development of WRS. We anticipated that WRS development would benefit Indonesia's economic development, particularly the agricultural sector.Originality/value (State of the art): Based on the researcher's observations, no WRS analysis has been found using the SLR approach. This method was chosen because it is considered appropriate for reviewing literature that has been conducted in the context of WRS. Keywords: literature review, agricultural economics, warehouse receipt system, problem, solution

Abstract

The Human Development Index (HDI) is critical for measuring a country’s economic growth. This research aims to determine the impact of zakat distribution in five priority sectors, i.e., humanity, education, economy, health and religion, on Indonesia’s HDI. The data consists of zakat distribution and HDI for the 2012-2022 period. Ordinary Least Square (OLS) regression is used to analyze the relationship between variables using the EViews 12 tool. The distribution of zakat in the education and humanitarian sectors has a positive and significant effect on increasing HDI in Indonesia. Meanwhile, no impact is found on the economic sector, health and religion. Implications are drawn for zakat institutions and the government to formulate policies and programs to optimize zakat funds consistently and strategically in vital sectors.

Abstract

This research presents an in-depth analysis of state financial policy, taking inspiration from the interpretation of the Prophet Yusuf's dream immortalised in Surah Yusuf. Using a qualitative approach and a literature review method that combines tafsir bi al ma'tsur and tafsir bi ra'yi, this research discusses each verse in detail, exploring the relevance of the findings to current scientific developments. The main findings include the seven-year cycle, the basis for formulating state financial policies, instruments based on food security strategies, and the determining phases for a country that can prosper or decline. This conclusion underlines the importance of the first and second cycles as policy foundations that should be addressed, opening new insights into understanding and designing state financial policies.
