Abstract

Students' low ability to write narrative essays is caused by several problems in the learning process. These problems include teachers not using appropriate learning models in implementing learning. Teachers also do not use appropriate learning media. Apart from that, learning is still teacher-centered which causes students to be less actively involved in learning. This research aims to improve students' ability to write narrative essays using the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by a series of pictures. This research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) involving 18 elementary school students. The approach used in this research is a mixed method approach or a qualitative and quantitative approach. The research was carried out in 2 cycles with data collection techniques in the form of document analysis, observation, and tests. The results of the research showed an increase in: a) assessment of teaching modules in cycle I 82.14% (Good) to 92.85% (Very Good) in cycle II, b) observations on the teacher aspect of cycle I 75% (Good) to 85% (Good) in cycle II, while implementation in the student aspect of cycle I was 75% (Good) to 85% (Very Good) in cycle II, c) the assessment of students in cycle I obtained an average of 69.10 and cycle II with an average of 80.10. Based on the research results, it shows that there has been an increase in students' writing skills using the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by a series of images.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the effect of using the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model and variations in learning styles on the critical thinking abilities of class IV students in Cluster V, Palembayan District. Critical thinking ability is a key skill in modern education, encouraging the development of analytical, evaluative and reflective thinking. The research method used in this research is a quasi-experiment with a research design using an experimental design with a 2x2 factorial design technique where there will be a control class and an experimental class. The research sample consisted of two groups of class IV students, one experimental group taught using the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model and one control group taught using a conventional approach. In addition, student learning styles were also identified and analyzed in this research. The research results showed that the group of students taught using the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model experienced a significant increase in critical thinking skills. This is reinforced by the results of statistical analysis which show that the value of tcount (1.910) is higher than ttable (1.708) at a significance level of 0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Problem Learning (PBL) model has a positive effect on increasing students' critical thinking skills. Apart from that, this research also identified that student learning styles influence learning outcomes. Some learning styles may be better suited to a PBL approach, while others are better suited to a conventional approach. Therefore, educators are expected to consider variations in student learning styles in designing effective learning.

Abstract

Monotonous and boring learning using books and worksheets alone makes students less interested in learning and reduces students' critical thinking abilities. Teachers need to create open materials that are interesting and able to increase students' enthusiasm for learning and improve students' critical thinking skills. This research aims to develop an E-module based on the Problem Based Learning model with various steps in solving problems and containing video and image content that is interesting for students. The research location is SDN 015 Sungai Banyak City. The research subjects were fourth grade elementary school students. This research is R&D development research using the ADDIE model. There are 2 stages of data analysis technique, namely validation carried out by 3 experts. Media experts, language experts and material experts are drawn from expert lecturers and master's graduate teachers. The second stage is practicality taken from fourth grade elementary school students. The research results showed a validity figure of 92.82% in the very valid category and for practicality it was 97.5% for students and 92% for teachers. The obstacles faced are limited time and the need for introduction in creating e-modules using the articulate storyline 3 application.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the results of a preliminary study conducted by researchers at the research location that students do not master reading skills. Based on these findings, researchers are interested in obtaining information about the influence of using the SQ5R learning method and learning motivation on the reading skills of class V students at UT SDN 05 Pasar Baru. This research to explain: (1) the effect of using the SQ5R learning method on the reading skills for class V students who have high learning motivation (2) the effect of using the SQ5R learning method on reading skills (3) the effect of using the SQ5R learning method on reading skills for class V students who have low learning motivation (4) interaction between the use of the SQ5R learning method and learning motivation. Base on the research results, it was found that (1) by the t test results obtained sig. (2-tailed) 0,000 < 0,05 (2) by the t test results obtained sig. (2-tailed) 0,005 < 0,05 (3) by the t test results obtained sig. (2-tailed) 0,017 < 0,05 (4) significance of the test results 0,988 > 0,05, so there is an interaction between the SQ5R learning method and learning motivation.
