Abstract

Erratic climate conditions cause lettuce production to decline, while the need for lettuce vegetables is increasing. The solution for stable production is hydroponic farming. This study aims to determine the different degrees of acidity that are best for the growth of three varieties of lettuce (Lactuca L). This research was conducted at Pondok Bedadung Indah Housing Block AA. 01 Kelurahan. Tegal Besar, Kaliwates District, Jember Regency, East Java with an altitude of 70 meters above sea level from December 2022 to February 2023. This study used a 3x3 factorial completely randomized design (CRD) with 3 replications. The first factor is lettuce varieties with 3 levels, namely: V1= Anizel lettuce, V2= Butterhead lettuce, and V3= Romain lettuce. The second factor is the degree of acidity with 3 levels, namely D1 = pH 5.5; D2 = pH 6.5; and D3 = pH 7.5. Observation data were analyzed using ANOVA test, if there is a significant difference then continued with Duncan test (DMRT) at 5% level using SPSS 20 for windows. The results showed that the acidity (pH) of 6,5-7.5 solution gave the best response to plant height, number of leaves, root length, and root weight. Romain lettuce varieties provide greater growth and production compared to butterhead lettuce and anizel lettuce on all parameters including plant height, number of leaves, root length, fresh weight, root weight and chlorophyll count. The degree of acidity (pH) solution of 7.5 in romain lettuce plants provides the best growth and production in all observation parameters including plant height, number of leaves, root length, fresh weight, root weight and chlorophyll content.

Abstract

Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah untuk menyelenggarakan Pendampingan Legalitas Produk UMKM yang berfokus pada Desain Kemasan dan Sertifikasi Halal di Kabupaten Bengkalis. Kegiatan ini diusulkan karena sebagian besar pelaku UMKM masih menghadapi kendala dalam hal legalitas produk, yang mencakup ketidaktahuan atau pemahaman yang rendah tentang pentingnya label dan kemasan yang sesuai standar, kesulitan mengakses informasi dan proses untuk mendapatkan izin seperti PIRT, NIB, atau sertifikat halal, keterbatasan sumberdaya, baik dalam aspek finansial maupun keterampilan desain kemasan produk. Kegiatan ini diharapkan pelaku UMKM mendapatkan pengetahuan, pemahaman dan kemampuan peningkatan produk dengan kemasan yang lebih baik. Metode yang digunakan adalah pelatihan dan pendampingan. Luaran kegiatan (output) adalah terselenggaranya kegiatan pelatihan dan pendampingan serta hasil program dalam seminar atau media. Dampak (Outcome) kegiatan ini adalah meningkatnya pelaku UMKM yang memiliki sertifikasi halal dan kemasan produk yang lebih menjual serta terjalinnya hubungan baik antara Polbeng dan masyarakat.

Abstract

Anemia pada ibu hamil masih menjadi salah satu masalah kesehatan yang dapat berdampak pada proses kehamilan dan persalinan. Upaya peningkatan kadar hemoglobin melalui konsumsi makanan tinggi zat besi merupakan salah satu alternatif yang dapat dilakukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh konsumsi puding buah naga terhadap kadar hemoglobin pada ibu hamil dengan anemia di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Kampung Besar Kota Kabupaten Indragiri Hulu. Penelitian menggunakan desain kuasi-eksperimen dengan rancangan one group pretest–posttest. Sampel berjumlah 21 ibu hamil yang dipilih secara purposive. Pengukuran kadar hemoglobin dilakukan sebelum dan sesudah intervensi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebelum diberikan puding buah naga seluruh responden berada pada kategori anemia sedang, sedangkan setelah intervensi sebagian besar responden mengalami peningkatan kadar hemoglobin hingga berada pada kategori normal. Hasil uji Wilcoxon menunjukkan nilai p < 0,05 yang berarti terdapat pengaruh signifikan konsumsi puding buah naga terhadap peningkatan kadar hemoglobin pada ibu hamil dengan anemia. Simpulan penelitian ini adalah puding buah naga efektif meningkatkan kadar hemoglobin. Disarankan pihak Puskesmas untuk memberikan edukasi mengenai pencegahan anemia melalui konsumsi makanan bergizi serta pemantauan kadar hemoglobin secara berkala.   Anemia in pregnant women remains one of the health problems that can affect the pregnancy and delivery process. Efforts to increase hemoglobin levels through the consumption of foods high in iron are one alternative that can be taken. This study aims to determine the effect of dragon fruit pudding consumption on hemoglobin levels in pregnant women with anemia in the working area of the Kampung Besar Kota Health Center, Indragiri Hulu Regency. The study used a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 21 pregnant women selected purposively. Hemoglobin levels were measured before and after the intervention. The results showed that before being given dragon fruit pudding, all respondents were in the moderate anemia category, while after the intervention, most respondents experienced an increase in hemoglobin levels to the normal category. The Wilcoxon test results showed a p-value < 0.05, indicating a significant effect of dragon fruit pudding consumption on increasing hemoglobin levels in pregnant women with anemia. The conclusion of this study is that dragon fruit pudding is effective in increasing hemoglobin levels. It is recommended that the Community Health Center provide education on anemia prevention through the consumption of nutritious foods and regular monitoring of hemoglobin levels.

Abstract

Cholesterol levels are vital indicators of the risk of metabolic disease. However, data on specific lifestyle determinants contributing to hypercholesterolemia within the Chronic Disease Management Program (Prolanis) population remain limited, despite their enrollment in routine monitoring programs. This study aimed to analyze the association between cholesterol intake, fiber intake, and physical activity with cholesterol levels in Prolanis participants.  This cross-sectional study involved 42 Prolanis participants aged 42–76 years at the Kedato Community Health Center in Bandar Lampung. Nutrient intake was measured using the Semi-Quantitative Food Frequency Questionnaire (SQ-FFQ), physical activity was assessed using the Physical Activity Level (PAL) assessment, and cholesterol levels were measured enzymatically.  Bivariate analysis indicated significant associations between cholesterol intake (OR=11.000; 95%CI: 2.366–51.141), fiber intake (OR=5.600; 95%CI: 1.218–25.751), and physical activity (OR=4.750; 95%CI: 1.226–18.406) with cholesterol levels. BMI and central obesity were not significantly associated with each other. However, in the multivariate logistic regression model, physical activity emerged as the sole independent correlate (Adjusted OR 4.848; 95% CI: 1.026–22.909), whereas the associations for dietary variables were attenuated and lost statistical significance.  Although dietary factors showed initial associations, physical activity was identified as the most robust independent correlate of cholesterol levels among the Prolanis participants in this study. These findings suggest that emphasizing physical activity is a critical component of strategies to address hypercholesterolemia in this population

Abstract

This research aims to evaluate the role of Islamic religious education in the transformation of adolescent mental health in the global era. This study uses a literature study method by analyzing various related literature sources, including relevant journals, articles and books. The focus of this research includes identifying adolescent mental health problems that are influenced by academic stress, social pressure, social media use, and identity crises. Furthermore, this research explores how Islamic religious education can offer solutions through character development, application of moral values, and implementation of effective educational programs. Data were analyzed by comparing findings from various sources regarding the impact of Islamic religious education on adolescent mental health. The research results show thah Islamic religious education can make a positive contribution to adolescent mental health in a comprehensive way, although there are several limitations in the application and generalization of the results. This research provides insight into the importance of integrating religious principles in efforts to support adolescent mental health in the global era.

Abstract

Background: Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is a risk factor for Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs). Lifestyle modifications through healthy dietary regulation and physical activity, supported by nutrition education interventions, effectively reduce the prevalence of MetS. To promote participation in lifestyle modifications, designing effective interventions requires a deeper understanding of people’s potential behavioral mediators associated with MetS. Objectives: The purpose of the study was to investigate potential behavioral mediators of healthy lifestyle adoption among adult women at risk for MetS. Methods: This study employed a qualitative-descriptive design, using semi-structured interviews to elicit in-depth perspectives from 18 participants. Thematic analysis was conducted using an inductive approach to formulate themes. Results: Participants’ understanding of MetS risks and prevention was limited. Participants had high confidence in physical exercise, but it was not yet aligned with the suggested frequency, duration, and techniques, while self-efficacy for healthy eating habits remained low. Conclusions: Participants expressed a significant need for further information and guidance on the prevention and management of MetS. Knowledge, intention, self-efficacy, and result expectations were recognized as primary internal possible behavioral mediators. A behavior-based intervention guided by Social Cognitive Theory is recommended to inform the design of contextual and effective nutrition education programs that support sustainable behavior change.

Abstract

Background: The nutritional management of CKD has traditionally focused on total protein intake. While animal proteins provide high bioavailability, their acid load production may contribute to CKD. Plant proteins serve as alternative sources due to their protective properties. Thus, the optimal plant-to-animal protein ratio is essential for developing dietary strategies that balance nutritional requirements with long-term renal preservation. Objectives: This review aimed to synthesize current evidence on the association between plant protein intake and kidney-related outcomes across different populations and CKD stages. Methods: Cohort studies were included, investigating adult populations with or without CKD. Exposure variables comprise plant protein intake or the proportion of plant-to-total protein, compared with lower plant protein or higher animal protein consumption. Outcomes assessed included eGFR, CKD incidence, and all-cause mortality. Literature searches used predefined keywords related to protein sources and kidney outcomes. Data were extracted and narratively synthesized following the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) guidelines. Results: Seven studies conducted between 2016 and 2025 across China, Iran, the United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom were included. Higher intake of plant protein was consistently associated with better kidney outcomes, including higher eGFR, slower decline in kidney function, reduced CKD, and lower mortality risk among individuals with impaired kidney function. Additionally, plant protein intake may mitigate the negative impact of sedentary behavior on CKD risk. Conclusions: Plant proteins play a protective role in kidney health. Incorporating plant-based protein into a healthy lifestyle may be a modifiable strategy for preventing and managing CKD.

Abstract

Pemenuhan gizi merupakan faktor yang penting dalam perkembangan anak selama 1000 hari pertama kehidupan. Kekurangan gizi pada masa tersebut dapat menyebabkan gangguan yang bersifat permanen. Pemenuhan kebutuhan gizi pada periode ini ditentukan oleh pola pemberian makan bayi dan anak (PMBA).  Organisasi Kesehatan Dunia (WHO) merekomendasikan pemberian ASI eksklusif selama 6 bulan pertama kehidupan, dilanjutkan dengan pemberian makanan pendamping ASI (MP-ASI). Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan ketrampilan kader posyandu dalam pemantauan praktek MP-ASI. Metode yang digunakan berupa edukasi, simulasi serta pendampingan kader dalam pemantauan praktik pemberian MP-ASI. Orientasi pemantauan praktek MP-ASI dilaksanakan pada bulan Agustus 2025. Nilai rata-rata pengetahuan kader meningkat dari 53,5 (SD=12,6) saat pre-test menjadi 77,2 (SD=9,9) saat post-test. Keterampilan kader meningkat dari skor rata-rata awal 4 (SD=0,9) menjadi skor 10 (SD=1,2) setelah simulasi. Uji statistik menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang bermakna pada tingkat pengetahuan  dan ketrampilan kader sebelum dan sesudah orientasi dengan nilai p-value= 0,000. Pendampingan kader dalam memantau praktik MP-ASI digunakan form checklist. Kader mampu mengidentifikasi baduta usia 6 – 23 bulan dengan MP-ASI kurang beragam. Kegiatan orientasi perlu dilakukan di wilayah lain, agar baduta yang bermasalah dengan MP-ASI dapat diketahui  dan diberikan edukasi kepada ibunya

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemangkasan pucuk dan jumlah buah per tanaman terhadap produksi tanaman melon golden (Cucumis melo L.) dalam sistem hidroponik NFT. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Greenhouse Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Islam Jember, pada bulan Januari hingga April 2025. Penelitian ini dilakukan menggunakan RAL faktorial 4×4 dengan 3 ulangan. Faktor pertama adalah pemangkasan (P) yang terdiri dari: P0 (tanpa pemangkasan), P1 (pemangkasan pucuk), P2 (pemangkasan tunas air), dan P3 (pemangkasan pucuk dan tunas air). Faktor kedua adalah jumlah buah per tanaman (B) yang terdiri dari: B0 (tanpa pembatasan), B1 (1 buah), B2 (2 buah), dan B3 (3 buah). Parameter yang diamati meliputi umur panen, berat buah, panjang buah, diameter buah, tebal daging buah, dan kadar gula. Data dianalisis dengan Analisis Varian dan uji lanjut Duncan pada taraf 5% menggunakan SPSS 27 for windows. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemangkasan tunas air (P2) memberikan hasil terbaik pada parameter diameter dan tebal daging buah. Perlakuan tiga buah per tanaman (B3) memberikan hasil terbaik pada parameter berat buah. Tidak ditemukan interaksi yang signifikan antara pemangkasan dan jumlah buah terhadap semua parameter yang diamati.
