Abstract

Background: The ageing population in Indonesia necessitates proactive interventions to maintain the quality of life among older adults, particularly in terms of social interaction, which often declines due to isolation, stigma, and mobility limitations. This community engagement initiative aimed to enhance the understanding and participation of older adults in social interaction through a community-based educational program entitled “I am an Active and Happy Older Adult”.  Methods: The intervention was conducted in Bolon Village on Saturday, September 13, 2025. The activity was carried out in three stages, namely (1) preparation, which included coordination with village officials, needs analysis, and the preparation of materials and leaflets; (2) implementation in the form of face-to-face health counseling using leaflets and interactive discussions; and (3) evaluation using the pre-post counseling method. The evaluation was conducted by administering a structured questionnaire containing ten closed-ended questions before and after counseling to 41 respondents (35 elderly people, six elderly health cadres, and other participants) to assess changes in their level of knowledge. Results: The majority of participants were aged 60–74 years (73.2%), female (78%), and had low educational backgrounds (71.1% ≤ junior high school). There was a significant increase in the mean understanding score from 4.95 (pre-test) to 9.56 (post-test), accompanied by a decrease in standard deviation from 0.865 to 0.502, indicating a more uniform level of understanding among participants following the intervention. Conclusion: These findings demonstrate that culturally responsive and participatory health education is effective in increasing awareness among older adults regarding the importance of social interaction. Follow-up evaluation, capacity strengthening of community health cadres, and expansion of interventions targeting older and male participants are recommended to realize the principles of active ageing inclusively and sustainably.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of capital access, financial management, and optimization of Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) on BUMDes income in Bengkalis District and Bantan District. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method, where primary data is collected through the distribution of questionnaires to BUMDes administrators and managers and analyzed using multiple linear regression with the help of the SPSS program. The results show that, partially, access to capital has a positive and significant effect on BUMDes income (t = 7.946; Sig. < 0.001) and the optimization of BUMDes utilization also has a positive and significant effect (t = 4.215; Sig. < 0.001), while financial management has a significant negative effect (t = -4.290; Sig. < 0.001). Simultaneously, access to capital, financial management, and optimization of BUMDes utilization have a significant effect on BUMDes income (calculated F > table F; Sig. < 0.001), which shows that increasing BUMDes income requires synergy between the availability of capital, effective financial management, and optimal utilization of assets and business units.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to formulate and validate an integrated event tourism package planning model for the SAMOTA National Strategic Tourism Area (KSPN) in Sumbawa, Indonesia. It addresses the critical gap in existing destination management, where flagship events and natural attractions are often marketed in silos, limiting their economic impact and sustainability. Design/methodology/approach: The study adopts a Research and Development (R&D) approach utilizing the 4-D Model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). Data were collected through in-depth interviews with penta-helix stakeholders, including government officials, local communities, and cross-regional travel agencies (Lombok, Bali, and Makassar). The resulting model underwent expert validation to ensure feasibility and market relevance. Findings: The research produced a "Collaborative Event Tourism Planning Model" that effectively integrates the SAMOTA International Festival (SIF) with iconic destinations (Moyo Island, Saleh Bay, and Tambora). The findings demonstrate that cross-regional stakeholder collaboration—specifically involving travel agents in the co-creation process—is the primary driver for building market confidence and expanding distribution channels. The model yielded segmented tourism packages (2D1N, 3D2N, and Full Day) that successfully extended tourists' length of stay. Originality/value: This study contributes to the event tourism literature by providing a validated, visual planning framework that links event scheduling with destination product packaging. It offers a practical roadmap for Destination Management Organizations (DMOs) to transform sporadic events into sustainable tourism products through structured multi-stakeholder synergy.

The first factor was the concentration of AB Mix nutrients (N), consisting of three levels: N1 = 1800 ppm, N2 = 2000 ppm, and N3 = 2200 ppm. The second factor was the timing of shoot pruning (P), consisting of three levels: P0 = no pruning, P1 = 20 days after planting (DAP), and P2 = 25 DAP. Data were analyzed using ANOVA (F-test) to determine the effect of the treatments. If a significant or highly significant difference was found, Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at a 5% significance level was conducted using SPSS Statistics 25 for Windows. Results showed 2000 ppm AB Mix concentration was best for the stem diameter parameter, while 2200 ppm was optimal for plant height, number of leaves, and all fruit-related parameters. No pruning produced the best results for almost all parameters except fruit length, whereas pruning at 25 days after planting (25 DAP) was best for plant height and number of leaves. The interaction between 2200 ppm AB Mix concentration and no pruning gave the best results for fruit weight, volume, diameter, circumference, and thickness.

Abstract

Erratic climate conditions cause lettuce production to decline, while the need for lettuce vegetables is increasing. The solution for stable production is hydroponic farming. This study aims to determine the different degrees of acidity that are best for the growth of three varieties of lettuce (Lactuca L). This research was conducted at Pondok Bedadung Indah Housing Block AA. 01 Kelurahan. Tegal Besar, Kaliwates District, Jember Regency, East Java with an altitude of 70 meters above sea level from December 2022 to February 2023. This study used a 3x3 factorial completely randomized design (CRD) with 3 replications. The first factor is lettuce varieties with 3 levels, namely: V1= Anizel lettuce, V2= Butterhead lettuce, and V3= Romain lettuce. The second factor is the degree of acidity with 3 levels, namely D1 = pH 5.5; D2 = pH 6.5; and D3 = pH 7.5. Observation data were analyzed using ANOVA test, if there is a significant difference then continued with Duncan test (DMRT) at 5% level using SPSS 20 for windows. The results showed that the acidity (pH) of 6,5-7.5 solution gave the best response to plant height, number of leaves, root length, and root weight. Romain lettuce varieties provide greater growth and production compared to butterhead lettuce and anizel lettuce on all parameters including plant height, number of leaves, root length, fresh weight, root weight and chlorophyll count. The degree of acidity (pH) solution of 7.5 in romain lettuce plants provides the best growth and production in all observation parameters including plant height, number of leaves, root length, fresh weight, root weight and chlorophyll content.

Abstract

Cholesterol levels are vital indicators of the risk of metabolic disease. However, data on specific lifestyle determinants contributing to hypercholesterolemia within the Chronic Disease Management Program (Prolanis) population remain limited, despite their enrollment in routine monitoring programs. This study aimed to analyze the association between cholesterol intake, fiber intake, and physical activity with cholesterol levels in Prolanis participants.  This cross-sectional study involved 42 Prolanis participants aged 42–76 years at the Kedato Community Health Center in Bandar Lampung. Nutrient intake was measured using the Semi-Quantitative Food Frequency Questionnaire (SQ-FFQ), physical activity was assessed using the Physical Activity Level (PAL) assessment, and cholesterol levels were measured enzymatically.  Bivariate analysis indicated significant associations between cholesterol intake (OR=11.000; 95%CI: 2.366–51.141), fiber intake (OR=5.600; 95%CI: 1.218–25.751), and physical activity (OR=4.750; 95%CI: 1.226–18.406) with cholesterol levels. BMI and central obesity were not significantly associated with each other. However, in the multivariate logistic regression model, physical activity emerged as the sole independent correlate (Adjusted OR 4.848; 95% CI: 1.026–22.909), whereas the associations for dietary variables were attenuated and lost statistical significance.  Although dietary factors showed initial associations, physical activity was identified as the most robust independent correlate of cholesterol levels among the Prolanis participants in this study. These findings suggest that emphasizing physical activity is a critical component of strategies to address hypercholesterolemia in this population
