Abstract

Background: Bipolar disorder is characterized by extreme mood swings, which disrupt mental balance and quality of life of sufferers, thus requiring effective interventions for emotion management. Purpose: To evaluate the effectiveness of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in managing emotions to improve mental balance in patients with bipolar disorder, and to identify effective strategies and gaps in the literature. Method: A systematic literature review was conducted by analyzing empirical studies from academic databases, inclusion criteria such as publications in the last 10 years and a focus on CBT for bipolar disorder. Results: Through strategies such as cognitive restructuring, relaxation techniques, and coping skills training, is effective in reducing symptoms of mania and depression and improving emotion regulation, especially when therapy is carried out over the long term. Integration of meditation can enhance effectiveness, although patient compliance and integration with pharmacotherapy affect outcomes. CBT is superior to other psychosocial interventions in emotion management, but is less optimal for manic episodes and non-Western cultural contexts. Conclusion: CBT is a valuable approach to improving mental balance, but requires adjustment for specific symptoms and cultural adaptation, with further research to address these limitations.. Keywords: Bipolar Disorder; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy; Emotional Management.

Abstract

Background: Patients undergoing surgery often experience stress and anxiety, which can increase complications and hinder recovery. Effective management of psychological factors is key to improving outcomes. Preoperative anxiety is inversely correlated with the amount of information patients receive, but easily accessible personalized support is limited. Purpose: To determine the existing evidence regarding the practice of telehealth, especially telenursing in perioperative patients. Methode: A literature review with a rapid review approach. The strategy in this literature review is with PCC which is used to develop guiding questions: Population (P): surgical patients; Concept (C): telehealth; Context (C): outcomes in the peri-operative period. The study search was conducted with 3 databases namely Pubmed, EBSCO, Proquest and Google Scholar Search Engine. Result: Result in this study literature search, 21 articles were found that matched the search. 5 articles were found that met the inclusion criteria. The telehealth interventions found were 4 interventions through telenursing that could significantly reduce stress, anxiety and depression in perioperative patients. Conclusion: Telehealth, especially telenursing, can reduce stress reactions, anxiety, and depression in perioperative patients and helping patients feel more prepared and less anxious. Keywords: Psychological Disorder; Perioperative; Telehealth; Telenursing.

Abstract

Background: Despite telemedicine being a significant instrument for mental health management, psychological and social factors such as stigma and lack of desire frequently hinder patient engagement.  Although psychological methods demonstrate potential in addressing these disorders, comprehensive evidence remains limited as of May 2025.   Purpose: To delineate psychosocial strategies in telehealth that enhance patient engagement with mental health disorders, evaluate their impact, and identify challenges and research gaps. Method: This work employs a scoping review and article selection methodology in accordance with the PRISMA-ScR criteria, utilizing a literature search. Boolean approaches were employed to search PubMed, Scopus, PsycINFO, IEEE Xplore, and Web of Science from 2015 to 2025. The inclusion criteria consist of studies on psychosocial therapies for adult individuals with mental health disorders. Ten actual papers from an anticipated forty served as the foundation for thematic analysis of the material. Results: User-friendly interfaces, empathy-driven chatbots, gamification, AI personalization, motivational reminders, and virtual communities contribute to enhanced therapy adherence (15–30%), increased session frequency (20–30%), elevated patient satisfaction (75–88%), and reduced service dropout (10–15%). The challenges encompass inadequate digital literacy, technological costs, data privacy concerns, cultural resistance, and insufficient infrastructure. Research gaps encompass the lack of studies on vulnerable populations, long-term effects, cultural differences, and significant disruptions. Conclusion: The psychosocial approach in telehealth effectively enhances patient engagement by addressing emotional, cognitive, and social needs, hence fostering community health empowerment. However, to optimize its efficacy, one must address implementation challenges and research gaps. Keywords: Psychosocial Approach; Patient Engagement; Telehealth.

Abstract

Background: The increasing incidence of cancer means that more people are living with cancer, which increases the responsibility of informal caregivers. Most caregivers are not prepared to fulfil their duties when taking on responsibility for the treatment and care of patients, which can become a burden on caregivers and affect the care of cancer patients. Purpose: To conduct a literature review that assesses the effects of e-health interventions on the burden of informal caregivers. Method: The research method was a literature review using a scoping review approach. The scoping review used inclusion criteria for articles published between 2020 and 2025, using a randomized control trial and experimental study design, and published in English. Article selection used the PRISMA Flow Diagram. The databases used were PubMed and EBSCO. Proquest and engine search Google Scholar. Results: The results of this literature search found 16,690 articles on e-health. However, only 18 articles met the inclusion criteria. Ten articles were complete but did not focus on the benefits of e-health on caregiver burden. Thus, only five articles met the inclusion criteria. Four e-health interventions were found to have an effect on reducing caregiver burden, such as stress, in family caregivers. Conclusion: These findings indicate that e-health interventions have beneficial effects for informal caregivers of cancer patients in long-term care. Keyword: Burden; Cancer; E-Health; Family Caregiver; Informal Caregiver.
