Abstract

The lack of street signs in RT 08 Pematang Gubernur makes it difficult for residents and visitors to find locations and weakens the area’s identity. This community service program aims to strengthen local identity through street sign installation. This research used a qualitative case study method with observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that the signs improved navigation, strengthened residents’ sense of belonging, and enhanced the area’s organized image. Challenges included limited funding and incomplete street name data. This program proves that simple street signs can support local identity if planned and maintained collectively.

Abstract

This community service project aimed to improve traffic safety in the densely populated area of RT 09 RW 05, Pematang Gubernur Subdistrict, through the installation of convex mirrors at a hazardous three-way intersection. The primary issue identified by local residents was limited visibility at road corners, which frequently led to near collisions. Using a collaborative approach, this activity involved active community participation in all stages, including problem identification, location determination, installation, and impact evaluation. The results showed that the presence of convex mirrors significantly enhanced driver awareness, improved traffic behavior, and fostered a collective sense of responsibility among residents regarding environmental safety. In addition to its functional benefits, the program strengthened community ownership of public facilities through participatory implementation. Thus, the collaborative approach proved to be effective in supporting sustainable, community-based traffic safety initiatives and may be replicated in other areas with similar conditions.

Abstract

Plastic waste is a major problem in Indonesia that contributes to environmental damage. This is due to the increasing demand for plastic in line with population growth and the lack of public awareness regarding the reuse of plastic waste. Plastic is indeed one of the biggest 'enemies' of the environment, with used beverage bottles being one of them. As is known, plastic has a negative impact on the environment because plastic is difficult to decompose by the soil even after being buried for years. One simple way that can be implemented in elementary schools to raise students' awareness of the environment is by using used plastic bottles as planting media. This activity aims to raise public awareness about reducing household waste. In addition, another goal is to utilize household waste for something more beneficial, in this case, as a planting medium. This method is carried out through counseling and the distribution of leaflets. The implementation of community service activities related to the management of inorganic household waste into planting media has been carried out well and smoothly. The understanding of the community in RT 17 Pematang Gubernur regarding the management of inorganic waste as a planting medium has increased.

Abstract

This account tells the story of the OPTIMISTIS community service day in Desa Air Kering 1, Padang Guci, Kaur, Bengkulu. Over the weekend, volunteers tidied up littered streets, showed children the worth of nature, invited more neighbors to join the clean-ups, and opened spaces where youth could learn. They planted new garbage bins, cleared rubbish from the river, held short Quran classes, and set in the ground forty grafted avocado trees as symbols of pride and extra green in the village. To feel the difference of these tasks, the team watched each day, asked residents through polls and talk circles, then wrote down every answer. Feedback was mostly hopeful: bins stayed full, about eight out of ten adults pitched in, families washed hands more often, and people from different groups chatted more freely. The report now urges village leaders to keep naming caretakers, check the steps together, and guard these small wins before they slowly fade.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of community participation and managerial competence on the performance of Pasundan Village-Owned Enterprises in Sukamaju Village, Sumber Harta District, Musi Rawas Regency. The main issue addressed is low community participation and suboptimal managerial competence, limiting the performance of BUMDes in improving community welfare. Using a quantitative associative research design, data were collected from 50 respondents, including managers and community members, through Likert-scale questionnaires and analyzed with multiple linear regression using SPSS version 25. The results show significant positive effects of community participation (t = 2.508, p = 0.016) and managerial competence (t = 6.507, p = 0.000) on BUMDes performance. Both variables simultaneously influence performance (F = 38.151, p = 0.000). The determination coefficient (R² = 0.619) explains that 61.9% of performance variation can be attributed to these factors, with the remainder influenced by other variables. The findings emphasize the importance of enhancing community engagement and management competencies to improve the performance and sustainability of BUMDes in fostering inclusive and sustainable rural economic development.

Abstract

Due to population growth and wasteful consumption patterns that exceed management capabilities, waste has become a major problem in various communities, including in Indonesia. The accumulation of waste causes methane gas emissions, environmental pollution, and aesthetic and public health problems. The situation is exacerbated by the lack of facilities, integrated systems, and public awareness. Real Work Lecture (KKN) offers practical solutions and encourages strategic behavioral change. The purpose of this study was to determine how KKN impacts waste management in RT.01, RW.01 Pematang Gubernur, including sorting, composting, and utilization of waste facilities; in addition, to find factors that influence the success of the program. Planning, action, observation, and reflection are components of the participatory action research approach. The study will be conducted from June 11 to July 4, 2025 in RT.01, RW.01 Pematang Gubernur Village, Muara Bangkahulu District, Bengkulu City. Data were collected through documentation and in-depth interviews with community leaders and community representatives. Data analysis is a qualitative description technique in which data is reduced, presented in the form of narratives, descriptions, tables, or images, and then conclusions are drawn to ensure the sustainability of the program. The waste sorting program does many things, such as sorting organic and inorganic waste, making compost, and making trash bins. The purpose of this program is to increase public awareness, reduce the amount of waste disposed of at the landfill, and make the environment cleaner. The creation of organic and inorganic trash bins aims to facilitate waste sorting from the source and increase public awareness of responsible waste management. The KKN team also educates and facilitates household waste sorting. Compost is made with ash produced from burning organic waste to increase soil fertility and manage waste independently. As a result, this KKN program focuses on increasing public awareness and environmental cleanliness practices through household waste sorting, composting, and providing waste management facilities. It is hoped that this will result in a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment in the community.

Abstract

Village officials play a crucial role in running the government at the village level. The success of village governance is inseparable from the performance of the village officials themselves. Good performance will be achieved if supported by effective leadership and high discipline from each village official. The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of leadership and discipline on the performance of village officials in the South Seluma District, Seluma Regency. The research objective used a quantitative method with a descriptive analysis approach. The analytical method in this study uses Validity Test, Reliability Test, Multiple Linear Analysis, Determination Coefficient, and Hypothesis Testing using T-Test, F-Test. The number of respondents was 30 people from all village officials in South Seluma District, which consists of four villages, namely Sengkuang Village, Tanjungan Village, Tanjung Seru Village, and Padang Genting Village. The results of multiple linear regression analysis obtained the equation: Y = 0.764 - 0.008X1 + 0.986X2 + e These results indicate that leadership (X₁) has a negative coefficient value (-0.008) and does not significantly influence the performance of village officials with a calculated t value of -0.046 <t table 1.703 and a significance of 0.986> 0.05. Meanwhile, discipline (X₂) has a positive and significant effect on the performance of village officials with a calculated t value of 5.944 > t table 1.703 and a significance of 0.000 < 0.05. The results of the simultaneous test (F test) show that leadership and discipline together have a significant effect on the performance of village officials with a calculated F value of 966.757 > F table 3.354 and a significance of 0.000 < 0.05. The Adjusted R² value of 0.985 means that 98.5% of the variation in village official performance is explained by leadership and discipline, while the remaining 1.5% is influenced by other factors outside this study.
