Abstract

Arabic language acquisition in boarding schools exhibits distinctive dynamics shaped by immersive environments, institutional policies, and social interaction. Previous studies have primarily examined these factors separately, resulting in a limited integrative understanding. This study explores patterns of Arabic acquisition through the interrelationship between environmental design, motivational mechanisms, and social interaction in three Islamic boarding senior high schools in West Java. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, participants were purposively selected from schools implementing Arabic programs. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis, and analysed using Moustakas’ thematic procedures. The findings reveal three acquisition models. SMA Asy-Syifa represents a classical, fragmented model emphasising grammatical mastery with minimal communicative exposure. FIBBIS High School applies an immersion–regulatory model through language zones and sanctions, increasing exposure but also generating anxiety and silence strategies. In contrast, Yaspida High School implements an integrative ecosystem model that combines a structured language environment, positive incentives, and layered peer support, effectively reducing affective barriers and fostering authentic communicative competence.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis secara komprehensif implementasi Projek Penguatan Profil Pelajar Pancasila (P5) dalam Kurikulum Merdeka di SMAN 112 Jakarta, dimotivasi oleh urgensi penguatan karakter holistik peserta didik di era disrupsi informasi. Meskipun P5 dirancang untuk membangun enam dimensi Profil Pelajar Pancasila, studi sebelumnya menunjukkan adanya kesenjangan antara konsep ideal dan implementasi aktual, serta perlunya kajian kontekstual, khususnya terkait integrasi Enam Nilai Dasar Keuninusan (teologis, teleologis, logis, etis, estetis, dan fisiologis) sebagai gap studi. Menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus deskriptif-analitis, data dikumpulkan melalui observasi partisipatif, wawancara mendalam, FGD, analisis dokumen, dan jurnal reflektif dari kepala sekolah, guru, siswa, dan orang tua. Temuan kunci menunjukkan bahwa SMAN 112 Jakarta telah mengimplementasikan P5 secara sistematis, didukung kepemimpinan transformasional dan kompetensi progresif guru dalam memfasilitasi pembelajaran bermakna. Integrasi nilai-nilai Keuninusan berhasil memperkaya dimensi filosofis P5, melampaui capaian kognitif semata dan menumbuhkan kesadaran moral, sosial, serta intelektual siswa. Meskipun demikian, tantangan kesiapan sumber daya dan kesinambungan dukungan kebijakan eksternal masih ada, menegaskan perlunya pengembangan profesional guru berkelanjutan dan dukungan sistemik institusi untuk optimalisasi P5 sebagai model pendidikan karakter berbasis proyek yang relevan dan berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Education plays a very strategic role in forming a harmonious society, especially in the context of cultural, religious, and social diversity. This study focuses on the role of education in building an attitude of tolerance in the formal education environment. Using a literature study approach, this study explores various theories and previous research results to understand the relationship between education and tolerance. The results of the analysis show that education not only functions as a means of transferring knowledge, but also as a medium for forming character and moral values. Inclusive religious education and a collaborative approach to learning have proven effective in instilling diversity values. However, this study also found various challenges, such as the lack of integration of tolerance values ​​in the curriculum, social stereotypes, and the influence of a less supportive family environment. To overcome these obstacles, a strategy is needed that involves teacher role models, active family participation, and curriculum updates that emphasize character education more. This study is expected to be a theoretical contribution in understanding the role of education as the main instrument for forming a tolerant and inclusive society.
