Abstract

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine PayLater practices from a historical perspective as a response to consumer credit transactions that are common in the digital age. The main finding of this study is that more and more people, especially members of Generation Z and Millennials, are using PayLater services, raising ethical concerns regarding the existence of fixed and progressive interest rates. Through a qualitative approach with a case study design, this study analyzes textual analyses of usury from primary sources such as Kutub al-Sittah, Bulugh al-Maram, and Riyadh al-Salihin. This analysis is then compared with PayLater practices used by popular e-commerce platforms in Indonesia, including Shopee, Gojek, and Akulaku. Data was collected through a study of hadith literature, fiqh muamalah, DSN-MUI fatwas, OJK regulations, and analysis of digital documents from service providers. The study findings show that PayLater practices contain elements of riba nasiah, which is debt arising from payment terms described in detail in the Qur'an (QS. Al-Baqarah: 275–279) and the hadith of the Prophet. Additionally, interest and late fees in this system contradict the principles of fairness, transparency, and the prohibition of additional debt in muamalah fiqh, thus failing to meet Sharia contract standards. This study concludes that hadith remains relevant as a legal authority in assessing modern digital financial phenomena, and underlines the urgency of redesigning PayLater products based on sharia contracts such as murabahah or ijarah to protect Muslim consumers and uphold maqashid al-syari'ah.

Using qualitative methods and literature studies, the study identifies important aspects of healthy communication, such as polite language selection, information verification, and respect for individual privacy. In the context of new media, good speech serves as an indicator of faith, where individuals who maintain speech tend to show a higher level of faith. In addition, responsibility for content shared on social media is essential for creating a safe and positive communication environment. The study also highlights the importance of respecting differences of opinion and creating inclusive discussion spaces to enrich social interactions. By applying ethical values in every interaction, social media users are expected to contribute to the development of a better and harmonious digital society, providing valuable insights for individuals in improving communication ethics in the new media era.

Abstract

Analyzing the phenomena known as "hustle culture," which describes a culture of high ambition and intense labor, frequently at the sacrifice of personal wellbeing. Extreme dedication to work, giving up personal time, and internet connectivity that enables people to display their accomplishments are characteristics of hustle culture. This culture has a variety of effects on Generation Z. up the one hand, hustle culture can inspire self-reliance and an entrepreneurial mindset, giving this generation the will to experiment and take up unorthodox professions. On the other hand, the pressure to constantly be productive can lead to mental health problems, stress, and anxiety in addition to interfering with a healthy work-life balance. In contrast to other generations, Generation Z encounters hustling culture in a distinct setting. where their work style and personality are greatly influenced by technology and social media. They are nonetheless impacted by the pressure to succeed, even though they are more conscious of the value of work-life balance. Finding strategies to cope with this strain, foster an atmosphere that promotes wellbeing, and reward success without compromising mental health and interpersonal relationships is crucial for both people and society as a whole.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has brought substantial changes in the production, distribution, and validation of Islamic knowledge, triggering fundamental epistemological challenges regarding the authority and legitimacy of religious discourse in the social media era. This study critically analyzes how digitalization transforms traditional religious authority and reconstructs the epistemology of contemporary Islamic thought, focusing on shifting patterns of production, validation, and distribution of religious knowledge. Using a qualitative approach that integrates literature studies and Fairclough's Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA), this study analyzes academic literature and digital content to uncover the ideological dimensions and power relations behind epistemological shifts in online Islamic discourse. The results show that digitalization shifts knowledge production from an institutional-hierarchical framework to a more flexible, participatory, and algorithm-driven space, where validation now relies more on popularity metrics than scientific accuracy. This shift gives rise to epistemic populism that replaces scientific authority with performative influence, implicating a decline in methodological depth and the polarization of Islamic identity. This study concludes that digitalization acts as an agent of epistemological transformation that demands the development of a hybrid Islamic epistemology, which combines classical scientific values with digital participatory methods to maintain scientific integrity.

Abstract

A kiai (Islamic scholars) is an instrumental figure for Muslims, especially their students. Kiai are expected to behave well according to Islamic law. However, many kiai fall into sin. Lack of vigilance in maintaining their faith can lead them to indulge in worldly pleasures and commit reprehensible acts. Therefore, this study focuses on the kiai's identity as a symbol inherent in Islam. The various behaviors carried out during the kiai's da'wah journey will influence the formation of an Islamic religious identity, encompassing its teachings. Therefore, this research was conducted with the aim of presenting the concept of the Immanence of Kiai Ta'lim, the forming and destroying factors, and the influence of the immanence of Kiai Ta'lim on the social environment. In this study, the researcher used a qualitative research method (Field research) to obtain maximum data results. The author used data processing techniques to obtain data in this study by conducting observations at the Syifa'ul Mu'minin Islamic Boarding School, interviews with the leaders of the Kiai of the Syifa'ul Mu'minin Islamic Boarding School, and documentation. The results of this study indicate that the Immanence of Kiai Ta'lim has a very large influence on individuals and the social environment. The Immanence of Kiai Ta'lim is spiritual wisdom by realizing the presence of God (Allah) who is one with one's soul or heart, both in educational missions and in social missions.
