Abstract

Mathematical communication ability is essential, especially in learning geometry to understand trigonometric comparisons. However, many students still face difficulties in communicating mathematical problem-solving processes. Augmented Reality (AR) visualizes 2D and 3D objects, helping solve problems and improving communication. This study aims to develop and evaluate the quality of teaching materials and worksheets (LKPD) assisted by AR on geometric comparison topics to enhance students' mathematical communication ability. The research uses the Plomp development model, which includes initial investigation, design, realization/construction, testing, evaluation, revision, and implementation phases. Validation involves five experts, consisting of two lecturers and three subject teachers, while the practicality test includes 33 high school students in Banten, Indonesia. The study results show that the teaching materials and LKPD achieve an average validity of 88.25% (very valid), practicality of 88.2% (very practical), and effectiveness based on student activity observation sheets of 85.6%. The students’ test results reach 86.6% (very effective). The mathematical communication test also indicates that 10 students are in the moderate category, and 23 students have high communication ability, with an N-Gain of 64.2% (quite effective). Based on these results, the teaching materials and AR-assisted LKPD are valid, practical, and effective, making them suitable for mathematics learning.

Abstract

Social media use among school youth is increasing, but it is often used without adequate understanding of its educational and literary value. This situation gives rise to various problems such as the spread of false information, digital addiction, and low media literacy skills. This community service activity aims to improve the understanding and skills of school youth in utilizing social media positively as a means of education and digital literacy. Implementation methods include outreach, interactive training, group discussions, and mentoring in creating engaging and informative educational content on social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. The results of the activity indicate an increase in participants' knowledge and awareness of the importance of digital literacy, internet ethics, and skills in creating useful content. The impact is evident in changes in adolescents' attitudes toward using social media wisely and productively to support learning and share positive information. In conclusion, appropriately directed use of social media can be an effective tool for improving literacy and education among school youth, while simultaneously developing a generation of intelligent, creative, and responsible young people in the digital era.

Abstract

Statistics learning at the junior high school level requires students to develop critical thinking ability and learning interest; however, in practice, both aspects remain relatively low due to the dominance of conventional instruction and the limited use of interactive learning media. This study aims to develop interactive learning media based on Articulate Storyline 3 and to examine its validity, practicality, and effectiveness in improving students’ critical thinking ability and learning interest in junior high school statistics. The study employs a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, which consists of the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The research subjects include 30 eighth-grade students divided into an experimental class and a control class. The research instruments comprise expert validation sheets, student response questionnaires, learning interest questionnaires, and critical thinking ability tests. The results indicate that the developed learning media demonstrate very high validity, excellent practicality, and effectiveness in enhancing students’ critical thinking ability and learning interest. Therefore, interactive learning media based on Articulate Storyline 3 are feasible as an innovative alternative for junior high school statistics learning. This study contributes to mathematics education by refining the integration of interactive digital media within statistics learning, offering an ADDIE-based development framework that informs future instructional design research while providing practical guidance for teachers in fostering student-centered learning and critical thinking.

Abstract

Mathematics learning at the junior high school level continues to face various challenges, particularly the low levels of students’ mathematical literacy and mathematical disposition, which are largely caused by the limited availability of interactive learning media. Students often experience difficulties in understanding problem information, organizing concepts, and constructing solutions systematically, especially in the topic of integers. This study aimed to develop Genially-based interactive learning media for the topic of integers for seventh-grade junior high school students and to evaluate its validity and practicality. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, which consists of the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The developed media were validated by a media expert, a subject-matter expert, and a language expert, and their practicality was tested through small-scale and large-scale trials involving junior high school students. The validation results indicated that the learning media achieved average scores of 86% from the media expert, 93% from the subject-matter expert, and 98% from the language expert, all of which fell into the “very valid” category. Meanwhile, the practicality test results showed scores of 86% in the small-scale trial and 84% in the large-scale trial, both of which were categorized as “very practical.” Based on these findings, the Genially-based interactive learning media were considered feasible for use and demonstrated potential to support the development of junior high school students’ mathematical literacy and mathematical disposition. This study contributes to mathematics education research by providing empirically validated evidence on the feasibility of Genially-based interactive learning media as an effective alternative to support students’ mathematical literacy and mathematical disposition, particularly in the topic of integers.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the potential of the Baduy leuit (traditional rice barns) as a cultural basis for designing mathematics tasks grounded in real-world contexts. Using an ethnographic approach, the research collected data through field observations, photographic and sketch documentation, direct measurements, and in-depth interviews with community elders. The findings reveal that the leuit embodies structural characteristics that correspond to fundamental geometric forms. Two principal types were identified: the Leuit Lenggang, resembling a truncated square pyramid, and the Leuit Gugudangan, resembling a rectangular prism. These structures offer authentic contexts for designing mathematics tasks related to volume, surface area, ratios, nets, and capacity estimation. Examples include calculating rice storage volume, determining bamboo requirements for construction, and analyzing roof coverage—all of which illustrate how traditional architecture can be transformed into meaningful mathematical problem situations. Beyond their mathematical relevance, the leuit reflects cultural values of food security, ecological stewardship, and collective responsibility, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 2: Zero Hunger; SDG 4: Quality Education; SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities). The study concludes that integrating the Baduy leuit into mathematics task design offers a culturally responsive approach that enhances conceptual understanding while fostering appreciation of local wisdom.
