Abstract

This study aims to examine strategies for optimizing the role of universities in empowering early childhood education (ECE) in remote areas through a literature review using a qualitative approach. Descriptive analysis was employed to synthesize data from 20 scholarly articles, rigorously selected from an initial pool of 40 articles retrieved via Google Scholar for the period 2016–2024. The findings reveal that universities play a strategic role in improving the quality of ECE through teacher training, development of curricula rooted in local wisdom, utilization of information technology, and collaboration with various stakeholders. Case studies from universities in Indonesia, such as Universitas Gadjah Mada and Universitas Terbuka, illustrate the success of ECE empowerment programs in remote areas. This research concludes that research-based approaches, technological innovation, and multisector partnerships can provide effective solutions to address educational challenges in remote areas. Recommendations are made for universities and governments to strengthen collaboration in developing sustainable and locally relevant ECE programs.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the strategic role of emotional intelligence in enhancing students’ academic achievement through a psychopedagogical approach that emphasizes the interaction between emotions, motivation, and learning environments. Employing a literature review method with a qualitative approach and descriptive analysis, the data were collected from 50 scholarly articles published between 1979 and 2025 on the Google Scholar platform. After a rigorous selection process, 22 articles were deemed relevant to the research focus. Data collection was carried out using keywords aligned with the topic, and data analysis was conducted descriptively by identifying, categorizing, and synthesizing findings across the selected articles. The results indicate that emotional intelligence—which includes the ability to recognize, understand, and manage one’s own emotions and those of others—significantly contributes to increased intrinsic motivation, academic engagement, and students’ adaptability within learning environments. These findings are supported by emotional intelligence theories from Mayer and Salovey as well as Goleman, the Self-Determination Theory of motivation, and Bronfenbrenner’s ecological theory of learning.

Abstract

Background Managing a Qur’an memorization program for young students poses unique challenges, as it requires managerial strategies that are appropriate to their developmental stages and necessitates the involvement of multiple stakeholders, including parents. Purpose The purpose of this study is to analyze the management of the Qur’an memorization program at Darussalam Islamic Boarding School in Sampit, with a specific focus on the aspects of planning and implementation, as well as to identify the supporting factors and obstacles encountered. Design/method/approach This study employs a qualitative descriptive method, with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. Results The results of the study indicate that the management of the Qur’an memorization program is carried out systematically through several stages: planning memorization targets, implementing activities tailored to the children's characteristics and needs, and conducting regular evaluations through tasmi’, munaqosah, and muroja’ah. The program’s success is supported by teachers’ commitment, a conducive boarding school environment, and effective motivational strategies. The main challenges include the lack of parental involvement and inconsistency in memorization during holidays or when the children are at home. Contribution/value To address these challenges, it is necessary to strengthen collaboration between the boarding school and parents, as well as to develop a more robust and consistent evaluation system. The findings of this study can serve as a reference for other Islamic educational institutions in designing adaptive and sustainable Qur’an memorization programs.

Abstract

This research aims to examine in depth how universities can revitalise their role in encouraging social transformation through community service based on sustainable innovation. Using a qualitative approach in the form of literature review and descriptive analysis, this research analyses 19 selected articles from Google Scholar and other credible online sources published between 1996-2025. The findings show that sustainable innovation in community service programmes has great potential in empowering communities, increasing local capacity, and creating systemic social impact when developed through collaboration between actors, participatory approaches, and the use of science and technology. This study is based on the Triple Helix, Diffusion of Innovations, and engaged scholarship theories that emphasise the importance of synergy between academia, community, industry, and government. Case studies in various parts of Indonesia show the success of innovation-based service models in improving community welfare in a sustainable manner. Therefore, revitalising the role of universities through innovative service not only supports the national development agenda, but also reaffirms the social function of universities as agents of change.

Abstract

The ongoing transformation of education, which demands collaboration, innovation, and rapid adaptation, presents significant challenges to the effectiveness of educational human resources, particularly when interpersonal and organizational conflicts emerge as structural and psychological barriers within school environments. This study is a literature review using a descriptive qualitative approach that aims to analyze the dynamics of conflict management in schools and its contribution to strengthening human resources in the context of educational transformation. Data were collected from 40 scholarly articles published between 1967 and 2025 via Google Scholar and other credible academic sources, then strictly selected down to 22 relevant articles. The review findings indicate that conflict management based on collaborative approaches, transformative leadership, and organizational culture reinforcement plays a crucial role in improving the performance effectiveness of educators and school staff. Analyzed case studies show that schools successfully managing conflicts constructively are able to create a more productive, adaptive work environment that supports the success of school-based community engagement programs. These findings affirm that conflict management must become an integral part of educational human resource development strategies to fully support the national education reform agenda.
