Abstract

The postoperative period following a cesarean section (CS) is a critical phase of physical and psychological recovery and carries the risk of complications such as wound dehiscence and urinary retention. If not properly managed, these complications may lead to prolonged pain, extended treatment duration, increased risk of infection, and long-term bladder dysfunction. This case report aims to identify the contributing factors to post-CS complications and describe nursing interventions that may prevent further deterioration. A descriptive observational design with a nursing care approach was used, conducted from 17-23 October 2024. The subject was a post CS POD 19 mother with a history of IUFD with complications of wound dehiscence and urine retention. Assessment findings revealed inadequate nutritional intake, insufficient early mobilization, and poor medication adherence, all of which contributed to the complications. Additionally, the use of honey as a natural antimicrobial showed potential benefits in supporting wound healing. These findings highlight that improper management may prolong treatment and increase the likelihood of additional complications. Therefore, comprehensive nursing care, continuous monitoring, and effective patient education are essential to improve adherence and support optimal recovery. Keywords: Cesarean section, postoperative complications, postpartum women, urinary retention, wound dehiscence.

Abstract

Pregnancy is a sensitive period that may predispose women to emotional and psychological changes. The loss of a fetus in utero, known as Intrauterine Fetal Death (IUFD), can result in severe psychological consequences, including grief, stress, and depression. However, research examining psychological interventions for women experiencing IUFD remains limited. This study aims to provide an overview of psychological interventions for mothers who experience Intrauterine Fetal Death (IUFD). This review employed a scoping review approach using three databases: PubMed, EBSCO, and ScienceDirect. The article selection process followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. The search keywords included pregnancy or gestation, fetal death, IUFD, stillbirth, psychology, and nursing interventions. The inclusion criteria included peer-reviewed journals, English language publication, and RCT or Quasi-experimental studies. Based on the screening and eligibility process, seven articles met the inclusion criteria. The findings indicate that structured therapeutic approaches such as mind body group therapy, yoga, and art therapy are effective in reducing symptoms of depression and stress, while also enhancing self-acceptance and quality of life. Future research is recommended to integrate psychological, social, and spiritual approaches into nursing practice to support the emotional well-being of mothers following fetal loss.

Abstract

Coronary heart disease is one of the diseases with acute and critical manifestations that has a high mortality rate worldwide. Psychoeducation is a comprehensive intervention that can be provided to acute patients, given its speed and its effects on all aspects of health. Comprehensive studies on the application of psychoeducation in acute-phase coronary heart disease patients are limited, so this literature review aims to identify the effectiveness of psychoeducation in managing this disease. This review uses a scoping review approach, applying six main stages: problem identification, identification of literature sources, literature selection, mapping and collecting literature, compiling and reporting results, and consulting with competent parties. The literature selection used the PRISMA approach, with article searches across three databases: Academic Search Complete, PubMed, and SAGE Journals. The studies reviewed used English-language research designs and focused on adult patients with acute or chronic coronary heart disease who received psychoeducation therapy, using RCT/cross-sectional/quasi-experimental/cohort study designs. The search results yielded five articles on the management of psychoeducation interventions in surgical and non-surgical conditions, focusing on coping strategies, physical capacity improvement, and disease understanding. Psychoeducation has been proven to improve patients' biopsychosocial quality of life (reducing stress levels, anxiety levels, depression, physical health, and social functioning). Psychoeducation can increase patients' knowledge by explaining coping strategies for adapting to life crises and other potential threats or developments. Further research is needed to refine the application of psychoeducational interventions on the quality of life of coronary heart disease patients

Abstract

ABSTRACT Health cadres play an important role in community-based maternal health services. Job satisfaction, particularly intrinsic satisfaction which includes recognition, responsibility, and opportunities for development, is a key factor in sustaining the role of health cadres. However, studies related to the intrinsic satisfaction of health cadres in maternal health services remain limited. This study aimed to determine the level of health cadres’ satisfaction based on intrinsic dimensions in efforts to improve maternal health in Garut Regency. This study employed a descriptive quantitative design using secondary data documentation. The sample consisted of 96 health cadres selected through total sampling from the working areas of Sukawening, Guntur, and Pasundan Community Health Centers. Data were collected using a validated and reliable intrinsic-dimension-based cadre satisfaction questionnaire and analyzed univariately. The results showed that the highest intrinsic satisfaction was found in the aspect of opportunities for development (96.9%), while the highest level of dissatisfaction was observed in the aspect of recognition (26%). These findings indicate that most health cadres have a high level of intrinsic satisfaction; however, some dissatisfaction persists, highlighting the need to enhance opportunities for development and provide more formal recognition. Keywords: Health Cadres, Job Satisfcation, Pregnancy.
