Abstract

Program pengabdian masyarakat ini dilaksanakan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi guru Biologi SMA di Kabupaten Takalar dalam memahami dan mengajarkan konsep genetika, khususnya persilangan monohibrid dan dihibrid, melalui media pembelajaran kartu genetika. Program ini menggunakan pendekatan pelatihan tiga tahap: penyuluhan, praktik, dan diskusi-evaluasi. Hasil menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman dan keterampilan guru dalam membuat dan menggunakan media kartu genetika. Kegiatan ini memberikan solusi praktis atas kesulitan dalam pembelajaran materi genetika yang bersifat abstrak dan kompleks.

Abstract

Shallots (Allium ascalonicum L.) are a highly popular plant both as a culinary spice and herbal medicine. Due to their economic benefits, many farmers cultivate them. Saruran Hamlet, located in Anggareja District, Enrekang Regency, is one of the areas where shallots are intensively cultivated. Farmers face a significant problem with high pest infestation rates. To manage this, chemical pest control using insecticides is employed. However, insecticides are toxic and increasingly expensive. To reduce pesticide use, pest control using light traps was implemented through the "electricity to the fields" program by the local PLN. The use of light traps is suspected to have a negative impact on the balance of biotic ecosystem components, thus necessitating a study on this matter. Therefore, the aim of this study is to inventory and analyze the diversity of insect species in shallot cultivation areas in Saruran Hamlet, Enrekang Regency. This research employed a survey method by collecting insects trapped in farmers' light traps. The identification and counting of insect species were conducted in the FMIPA UNM Laboratory. Based on the collected data, the Shannon-Wiener diversity index (H’) was analyzed. The results showed that the total number of trapped insect individuals was 1,332, consisting of 27 species from 8 orders. The Shannon-Wiener diversity index (H’) was found to be 2.20, which falls into the moderate category.

Abstract

This study aims to find out how appropriate the learning objectives are with the evaluation questions on the lesson plans made by biology teachers for Classes X, XI and XII MA Sultan Hasanuddin and to determine the level of distribution of cognitive levels of the revised bloom taxonomy on learning objectives for Classes X, XI and XII MA Sultan Hasanuddin. The type of research used in this study is the type of research in descriptive form. The population in this study were lesson plans and evaluation questions made by biology teachers from MA Sultan Hasanuddin, Gowa district. The results showed that for compatibility between learning objectives and evaluation questions in class X the category according to the percentage value of 64% was not in accordance with the percentage of 22%, did not correspond to the percentage of 7% and the category of finding learning objectives that did not contain 7% evaluation questions. For class XI the appropriate category is 43%, 31% less suitable, not appropriate and 0% and 26% are categories of objective findings that do not contain evaluation questions. For class XII the appropriate category is 44.5%, 44.5% inappropriate, 0% inappropriate and 11% findings of learning objectives that do not contain evaluation questions. The total distribution of learning objectives based on the cognitive level of the revised bloom taxonomy shows that category C2 with the highest percentage value is in class X 46% 50% in class XI and 25% in class XII. As for category C3 with a percentage value of 0% in all classes.

Abstract

Pelatihan pembelajaran berbasis proyek (Project-Based Learning/PjBL) terintegrasi kearifan lokal bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kapasitas guru di Kabupaten Takalar dalam merancang dan mengimplementasikan pembelajaran bermakna yang relevan dengan lingkungan sekitar. Pelatihan ini diharapkan dapat mengatasi beberapa tantangan, termasuk kurangnya pemahaman guru terhadap penerapan PjBL dan kesulitan mengintegrasikan potensi lokal dalam pembelajaran. Lokasi pelaksanaan pelatihan bertempat di UPT SMAN 7 Takalar yang diikuti oleh 28 orang guru. Metode pelatihan mencakup identifikasi pengetahuan awal, sesi penyampaian materi terkait konsep dasar PjBL dan bagaimana menginterasikan PjBL dengan kearifan lokal. Platform digital juga digunakan untuk mendukung interaksi dan penyampaian materi secara lebih efektif. Efektivitas pelatihan diukur melalui evaluasi berbasis angket kepuasan peserta dengan lima indikator utama, yaitu keandalan (reliability), ketersediaan fasilitas fisik (tangibles), kompetensi pemateri (assurance), responsivitas (responsiveness), dan empati (empathy). Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan rata-rata skor kepuasan sebesar 3,664 dari skala 4, dengan indikator keandalan mencatat skor tertinggi (4,0). Guru menunjukkan antusiasme tinggi dalam memanfaatkan potensi lokal untuk menciptakan pembelajaran yang kontekstual, inovatif, dan bermakna. Pelatihan ini tidak hanya membantu meningkatkan pemahaman guru terhadap PjBL dan keterampilan mengintegrasikan kearifan lokal, tetapi juga mendorong pelestarian budaya dan potensi daerah melalui pendidikan yang relevan dan aplikatif. Kata Kunci: Project-Based Learning, potensi lokal, kearifan lokal, pelatihan guru, evaluasi kepuasan.

Abstract

Program Pengabdian Masyarakat ini dilaksanakan pada bulan September 2023 di Laboratorium Kultur Jaringan, Jurusan Biologi, FMIPA UNM, dengan sasaran utama Guru Biologi dan IPA di Provinsi Sulawesi. Metode yang digunakan mencakup penyampaian teori, demonstrasi, latihan pembuatan media, sterilisasi spesimen (eksplan), penanaman, serta diskusi dan sesi tanya jawab. Penyampaian teori bertujuan untuk memberikan pemahaman dasar mengenai kultur jaringan tumbuhan. Demonstrasi dilakukan agar peserta dapat mengamati langsung prosedur dan tahapan sterilisasi serta pembuatan medium dan eksplan. Praktik dimaksudkan agar peserta memperoleh keterampilan dalam melaksanakan proses kerja kultur jaringan. Diskusi dan sesi tanya jawab dirancang untuk mengatasi masalah yang muncul selama penyampaian teori dan kegiatan praktik. Berdasarkan kegiatan ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa pelatihan ini berhasil meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterampilan guru dalam melaksanakan praktikum kultur jaringan menggunakan bahan dan peralatan sederhana dengan biaya rendah. Program ini membekali guru-guru dengan keterampilan untuk melaksanakan praktikum dengan mudah di laboratorium sekolah.

Abstract

Abstract Socialization and training activities on liquid organic fertilizer (POC) production for high school students in urban areas were carried out with the aim of increasing the knowledge and skills of urban students in managing organic waste into products that are economically valuable and environmentally friendly. Household waste, especially food scraps and other organic waste, has great potential to be processed into POC that can be used as an alternative fertilizer for plants. This activity involved the active participation of students, focusing on providing information about the benefits of POC, simple and easy-to-apply production techniques, and hands-on practice in making POC using readily available materials. The results of this activity showed an increase in participants' understanding of the importance of organic waste management and the potential of POC as a sustainable fertilizer solution. In addition, participants were able to practice making POC independently, which is expected to reduce the volume of waste disposed of in landfills and increase soil fertility and crop productivity in the surrounding environment. Thus, this outreach and training activity made a positive contribution to creating a clean, healthy, and productive environment through the optimal utilization of household waste in urban areas.

Abstract

Pelaksanaan tridarma perguruan tinggi menuntut adanya kegiatan yang mampu memotivasi dan mengarahkan mahasiswa, khususnya dalam aspek pendidikan dan penelitian di laboratorium. Salah satu upaya yang dilakukan adalah program pelatihan asisten praktikum di Laboratorium Biologi Jurusan Biologi FMIPA UNM, yang ditujukan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi mahasiswa sebagai asisten praktikum Biologi Dasar. Kegiatan ini bertujuan menguatkan kemampuan teknis, pemahaman keselamatan kerja, serta keterampilan pengelolaan praktikum agar mahasiswa mampu menjalankan peran asistensi secara profesional. Pelatihan diikuti oleh 21 asisten praktikum Biologi Dasar dan dilaksanakan dengan metode berbasis praktik dan simulasi yang dipadukan dengan penyampaian materi teoritis. Metode pelatihan terdiri atas persiapan kegiatan, pemberian materi teoritis, pelatihan praktek laboratorium, simulasi dan pendampingan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kompetensi teknis dan soft skills, seperti komunikasi, tanggung jawab, dan etika kerja, yang berdampak positif terhadap kualitas proses pembelajaran di laboratorium. Berdasarkan hasil evaluasi yang dilakukan, terlihat adanya peningkatan signifikan dalam kemampuan menjalankan prosedur praktikum secara mandiri, yang sebelumnya dikuasai oleh sekitar 62% peserta pada tahap pre-test meningkat menjadi 86% pada post-test. Program pelatihan ini berpotensi menjadi strategi berkelanjutan untuk mendukung peningkatan mutu pendidikan di Jurusan Biologi UNM.

Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to analyze the implementation of differentiated learning within the Kurikulum Merdeka in Biology subjects at SMAN 1 Sendana. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach using observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation techniques. The theoretical framework refers to Carol Ann Tomlinson’s concept of Differentiated Instruction, which emphasizes the adaptation of content, process, and product of learning based on students’ readiness, interests, and learning profiles. The findings indicate that Biology teachers have implemented differentiated learning through diagnostic assessments, curriculum analysis, and strategies for differentiating content, process, and product. Evaluation is carried out continuously using both formative and summative approaches. Although the delivery of material has not been fully adjusted to students’ levels of learning readiness, differentiated learning is effectively implemented and fosters an inclusive, student-centered learning environment. These findings provide practical contributions for Biology teachers and other schools in designing adaptive learning aligned with the principles of Kurikulum Merdeka, as well as serving as a reference for developing instructional strategies that are responsive to student diversity.Keywords:  Differentiated instruction, Independent Curriculum, Biology, Diagnostic assessment, Teaching strategy

Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to enhance students’ conceptual understandings of the circulatory system topic by utilizing multiple representations. The method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR), with two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were students in grade 11-Merdeka 6 at SMA Negeri 8 Makassar. The results showed that using multiple representations (macro, micro, sub-micro, and symbolic) significantly increased student understanding of the structure and function of the human circulatory system. The students’ score average increased from 63 in cycle-1 to 77 in cycle-2, with classical mastery increasing from 3.45% to 89.66%. The average N-Gain score of 0.375 falls into the moderate category. This study implies that the multiple representations strategy is effective in deepening students' understanding of abstract biological concepts.Keywords: multiple representations, knowledge of the circulatory system, action research.
