Abstract

Abstract

Lance Island is one of a group of islands around Batam Island, most of the inhabitants are fishermen. The location of Lance Island is very strategic because it is close to several popular tourist destinations. Lance Island also has abundant marine products. Being near a tourist destination does not make this island crowded, lack of promotion and low IT mastery are the causes. Likewise, in the sale of fishermen's catch, they have difficulty finding buyers, so they sell to middlemen at low prices. The purpose of this service is to introduce tourism objects and promote the catch of fishermen through training on making websites and using social media as an alternative to promotional media besides websites and improving English language skills. The method used was to identify mastery of information technology and foreign languages, then continued with training on the creation and use of information technology in the form of web development, social media use, and foreign language training. The result of the training is an increase in tourist visits, an increase in the sale of catches, and the ability to use foreign languages.

Abstract

Malay ethnicity has a wide cultural diversity. One of them is reflected in the legend story. Legend is part of an oral story tradition that is passed down from generation to generation and is believed to be true. In legends, it is often accompanied by abstinence taught from the older generation to the younger generation for generations. This article presented a gender relation in a continuity relationship with nature contained in folk legends in the South Sumatera region. This research departed from the concept of Ecocritic Garrard (2004) and Glothfelty (1996) in looking at the relationship between humans and nature then the Ecofeminism approach (Shiva, 2005) in looking at the relationship between women and nature. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with literature study data collection techniques. The analysis was carried out using interpretative descriptive analysis techniques. In this research, researchers analyzed three South Sumatera folk legends entitled Legend of Putri Kembang Dadar, Putri Kemarau and Antu Banyu. The results of this study indicated that the legend of South Sumatra region represented and narrated a gender perspective that put women as the central life of nature. Even though there are discriminatory discourses about women's space and power, in continuity women's discourse is always strong and attached to natural life.

Abstract

This article aimed to analyze an absurd drama entitled "Waiting for Godot" by Samuel Beckett. Derrida's theory is used to reveal the complexities contained in the narrative of the drama. This study used a qualitative descriptive method with the technique of deconstruction analysis. The results of this study answer two research variables including binary opposition as a form of deconstruction reading strategy and Arbitrary Relationship as a form of reversal of meaning in the story. There are 6 binary oppositions determined in this deconstruction strategy, namely Existence and ex-absentia, Hope and Despair, Loyalty and betrayal, Friendship and slavery, Perfection and Suffering, Reality and Imagination. Binary opposition is intended to see the relation that has been considered as a single meaning centered on a text. From this hierarchy of those binary opposition deconstruction could be seen that Vladimir and Estragon as the main characters of this drama are representation of the lower class which have been the victims of the Second World War. Absurdity is again present in the relationship between reality and hope. This hopes then leads to a construction of existence that is realized through the narrative character of Godot.
