Abstract

The Public Trust Doctrine (PTD) stipulates that the government must prioritize public interests, even when natural resource access has been granted to individuals or entities. This study will explore the incorporation of PTD into Indonesian law and utilize it to assess the constitutionality of the Mineral and Coal Law enacted on May 12, 2020. Criticism has arisen from various quarters regarding this law, as it appears to endorse unsustainable resource exploitation, posing a threat to the well-being of communities residing near mining areas. Employing a normative juridical approach and relying on secondary sources such as legal documents and Constitutional Court decisions (MK), this research seeks to examine the compatibility of PTD with Article 33(3) of the Indonesian Constitution. Our findings suggest that PTD is applicable if natural resources play a vital role in the public domain, and their regulation fully aligns with the principle of "to the fullest extent of public welfare." However, an analysis of specific provisions such as Article 22, Article 169A(1), and Article 169B(5) within the Mineral and Coal Law reveals inconsistencies with the PTD concept.

Abstract

The ability to speak English is one of the skills that students must have as a skill that can be used in the workforce. In the world of work, students who have graduated are required to have skills in communicating in English, and discussing communication, students are also expected to understand communication literacy. Many are good at speaking English but sometimes lack direction and lack knowledge about communication literacy. On this occasion, Putera Batam University lecturers held training for Putra Jaya Vocational School students. This training uses a lecture method combined with a question and answer session. This training is delivered directly by lecturers who are experts in their fields, namely English Literature and Legal Studies. This training is very important because some companies set English language standards because the ability to communicate using English is important for students' careers and students must have this ability to be able to survive in the midst of competition. Apart from that, you must be wise and clever in communication literacy. The results obtained from this service found that many students lacked confidence when asked to speak in front and did not understand legal literacy. After the service was carried out, it could be seen that students showed the need for practice in building self-confidence and students' understanding of legal literacy.

Abstract

Popular fiction is a work that can not be released from the audience and special formulas so that it can be a place of escape from all human fatigue in all forms of activity. This research aimed to find the phenomenon of escaping lackness trough popular fiction. By using a popular fiction approach Cawelty (1976) and Adi (2011) combined with the concept of psychoanalysis, the researchers tried to explore the passion and emptiness in popular iron man 3 movie through characters, settings, and plots in the story. By using the audience analysis approach in descriptive qualitative method, there were several factors that form the formula in this action iron man 3 story to fill the audience's dreams and fill the emptiness in the audience so that the achievement of popularity can be achieved. The results of this study showed that Stark as the protagonist was described as a special genius who could develop knowledge and technology to respond to natural phenomena that had not yet occurred. The ability of producer to create images of the desires of technology power with the needs of the community made this film successfully debuted. Spiced up with the story of romanticism Stark and his lover add to the surprises that were generated in accordance with the desire that involves the audience immersed in the story.

Abstract

This qualitative research aimed at finding out the assertive acts. To fulfill the objective of this research, the researchers used Searle and Vanderveken’s theory about assertive acts. The theory was applied to the “Spider-man No Way Home” movie as the data source. The movie was chosen because the characters mostly uttered the truth about the hero’s struggles in the movie. In collecting the data, the researchers applied the observational method. This method was used to observe the use of language based on the context of an utterance and it was followed by a note-taking technique to get valid data. In analyzing the data, the researchers used the pragmatic identity method followed by the pragmatic competence in equalizing technique. This technique aimed to equalize the data with the theory pragmatically. Finally, the result was displayed narratively and descriptively. The researchers discovered twenty-three out of thirty-two acts of assertiveness. The acts were asserting, affirming, stating, denying, assuring, arguing, informing, reminding, objecting, predicting, reporting, suggesting, insisting, hypothesizing, guessing, swearing, admitting, confessing, accusing, blaming, praising, complaining, and boasting. The researchers did not find any claiming, disclaiming, rebutting, notifying, retrodicting, conjecturing, testifying, criticizing, or lamenting. The most frequently appeared was informing act. Characters' utterances contained more social meaning in conveying information to the interlocutors. The utterances were not only uttered by the speakers, who were the ones who got the effect, but also by the hearers. The utterances occurred because it was based on a situation that caused the speaker to express the statements

Abstract

This study investigated several Impoliteness utterances expressed by Gordon Ramsay in "Hell's Kitchen" reality show. This study used descriptive qualitative analysis to categorize the data. Observational methods and taking a note were applied to collect the data by Sudaryanto. Following that, the data were analyzed using the competence - in equalizing technique and the Pragmatic Identity Method to examine the data in context. Impoliteness contained five strategies. There were 33 impoliteness strategies in the data. sixteen data of bald on record Impoliteness. nine data of negative impoliteness. four data of Positive Impoliteness. two data of sarcasm impoliteness. And two data of withhold impoliteness. Gordon Ramsay’s utterances in “Hell’s Kitchen” reality show mostly uttered bald on record impoliteness strategy. Abstract

Movies are popular forms of entertainment for younger individuals and a useful instruments for language learning. This study focuses on semantics, specifically the use of metaphorical language in the film "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer." Semantics is a method of linguistics that studies meaning, including synonyms, antonyms, word meanings, and word relationships. This study used a qualitative research method to detect different types of metaphorical language in the movie script. The qualitative approach entails analyzing data using words and utterances, whereas the data was collected and analyzed using methodology and observation. The study approach consisted of watching the film, analyzing the transcript, and identifying metaphorical terms. The researchers used a non-participant technique, in which they studied the movie transcript without directly interacting with the subjects. The study identified and classified 13 instances of figurative language, including 1 simile (7.7%), 2 metaphors (15.4%), 2 personifications (15.4%), 2 hyperboles (15.4%), 2 occurrences of irony (15.4%), 2 cases of symbolism (15.4%), 1 paradox (7.7%), and 1 litotes (7.7%). The findings highlight the film's varied use of figurative language, which enriches the story and improves comprehension, making it an interesting medium for language learners.

Abstract

This paper analyzes the short story Cerita Batu through the lens of deconstruction, focusing on the reversal of hierarchical oppositions and the rejection of new hierarchical structures. The analysis identifies key binary oppositions in the text Man/Woman, Living Things/Inanimate Objects, and Happy/Sad and examines how these oppositions function within the narrative. The study highlights how the text initially presents dominant and marginal hierarchies, such as male dominance over female and human superiority over inanimate objects, which are later deconstructed. By reversing these hierarchies, the story reveals the interdependence between opposing elements: men and women, humans and stones, and happiness and sadness. The narrative demonstrates that these binary oppositions are not fixed, but fluid and interconnected, showing how meaning in the text is plural and resistant to singular interpretations. Ultimately, Cerita Batu emphasize the idea that oppositions are mutually constitutive, challenging conventional notions of dominance and subordination.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) menilaian prestasi kerja (kecakapan, kedisiplinan, kerja sama dan tanggung jawab) berpengaruh terhadap promosi jabatan pada Kantor Camat Bungus Teluk Kabung Kota Padang. (2) Indikator mana yang paling dominan dari Prestasi kerja dan promosi jabatan di Kantor Camat Bungus Teluk Kabung Kota Padang. Metodologi analisis penelitian yang digunakan dalam pengumpulan data melalui tinjauan pustaka dan penelitian lapangan, sedangkan teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan observasi, wawancara, kuisioner yang dibagikan kepada responden penelitian. Teknik pengambilan sampel dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik total sampling dengan sampel sebanyak 53 responden. Data yang diperoleh dari objek penelitian diuji dengan uji Instrumen untuk melihat valid tidak dan realibel atau tidaknya suatu instrument, serta dilanjutkan dengan uji klasik untuk memperoleh data yg terhindar dari masalah BLUE. Analisis kuantitatif yang digunakan untuk menarik kesimpulan menggunakan regresi Linier sederhana, uji koefisiaen Dterminasi dan pengujian Hipotesi melalui uji t dan uji F. Hasil penelitian ini terbukti dengan pengujian hipotesis yaitu: analisis regresi sederhana, koefisien determinasi (R2) dan uji t. analisis regresi sederhana digunakan dalam menghitung seberapa besar pengaruh variabel dependen terhadap independen. Koefesien determinasai digunakan untuk mengetahui apakah ada hubungan pengaruh antara dua variabel. Sedangkan uji t untuk menguji apabila variabel bebas mempunyai pengaruh yang signifikan atau tidak signifikan dengan variabel terikat. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa jika penilaian prestasi kerja konstan, maka promosi jabatan turun sebesar 6,390 dan nilai koefisien regresi 0,684 menunjukkan bahwa setiap penilaian prestasi kerja, akan mendorong promosi jabatan sebesar 0,684. Nilai koefisien determinasi (R2) adalah 0,551. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa sebesar 55.1 persen promosi jabatan pegawai dapat dijelaskan oleh variabel penilaian prestasi kerja, sedangkan sisanya dijelaskan atau dipengaruhi oleh faktor-faktor lain yang tidak diteliti. Uji t dilakukan untuk mengetahui penilaian prestasi kerja terhadap promosi jabatan pada kantor Kecamatan Bungus Teluk Kabung Kota Padang. Dari uji t sebesar 7,918 sedangkan yang lebih besar dari ttabel sebesar 2,007. Artinya terdapat pengaruh positif dan signifikan dari variabel prestasi kerja terhadap promosi jabatan.

Abstract

The integration of digital platforms in education remains underexplored in enhancing creative writing skills in literature programs. This study tried to develop and examines the needs of the press media website, Sastranesia Pers, to accommodate writing creativity of Indonesian Literature students at Medan State University. Using a Research and Development (R&D) approach and the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation), the study involved 100 students enrolled in journalism language courses. The methodology included expert validation of the platform design and content, as well as student feedback through questionnaires and interviews. The findings reveal that the Sastranesia Pers website significantly improved students’ creative writing skills by offering a dynamic, interactive platform for hands-on learning. Students developed proficiency in news writing, editing, and journalistic ethics, bridging theoretical concepts with practical application. Additionally, the website fostered collaborative learning through the formation of a vibrant student press community, which encouraged peer feedback and sustained engagement. Participants reported enhanced confidence in expressing their ideas creatively, while the platform’s accessible design ensured ease of use and high engagement. Furthermore, the integration of digital tools demonstrated an effective approach to addressing challenges in traditional teaching methods, offering real-time feedback and fostering critical thinking. These findings underscore the transformative role of web-based media in language and writing education, with broader implications for integrating digital platforms to support creative and innovative learning.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menguji hipotesis tentang hirarki kebutuhan maslow terhadap kepribadiaan sosok Aparna sebagai karakter utama didalam cerita Hell-Heaven karya Jhumpa Lahiri. Maslow merumuskan 5 level hirarki kebutuhan yang dimiliki setiap orang yaitu; fisiologi, keamanan, Cinta dan keberadaan, Penghargaan, dan Aktualisasi diri. Kebutuhan Akan cinta berada pada level ketiga dari tingkatan tersebut. Teori ini menganggap bahwa keseluruhan dari seseorang terus menerus termotivasi oleh satu atau lebih kebutuhan dimana orang mempunyai potensi untuk tumbuh menuju kesehatan psikologis yaitu aktualisasi diri. Dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif serta analisis yang koheren, penelitian ini mencoba untuk menjawab dua variabel riset yaitu pengungkapan tentang ketakterpenuhan tokoh Aparna akan kebutuhan cinta serta sebab dan akibat atas ketakterpenuhan tersebut. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Teori Hirarki Kebutuhan Maslow juga bisa diterapkan untuk menganalisis kepribadian tokoh Aparna. Terbukti, ketika seseorang memiliki ketakterpenuhan dalam satu level tertentu maka ia akan termotivasi untuk memenuhi kebutuhan tersebut sebelum memenuhi tingkat kebutuhan lain. Ketakterpenuhan tersebut juga bisa memicu sebuah penyakit yang disebut patologi bahkan sampai ke metapatologi.
