Abstract The lack of knowledge among adolescents about balanced nutrition has led to suboptimal implementation of balanced nutrition in the community, resulting in numerous problems related to eating behavior, clean and healthy living behavior, and diseases related to underweight and obesity. DKI Jakarta has a higher prevalence. The purpose of this community service activity is to provide socialization about balanced nutrition patterns and body composition to the Kaur Regency Youth Association (HGMKK) in the Greater Jakarta area. The problem-solving method used a lecture approach, and was attended by 20 participants. As a result, there was an increase in participants' knowledge and understanding of balanced nutrition patterns and body composition. The pretest and posttest results showed an increase of 60,63%, with an 90,63% correctness rate in the posttest. In conclusion, socialization is an appropriate action to increase the knowledge and understanding of the younger generation regarding balanced nutrition patterns and body composition. It is hoped that it will increase awareness and encourage changes in eating behavior and healthy living. Thus, one of the 17 goals of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) program, namely point three, a healthy and prosperous life, is achieved in the community.

Abstract

This study aims to prove the effects of a single bout of endurance exercise on decreased oxidative stress in young adults with overweight. This study used the true experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design. Twenty overweight women between the ages of 20 and 23 were recruited from college students and randomly divided into CON (n = 10, control group without exercise) and EEx (n = 10, endurance exercise group). The endurance exercise intervention is carried out once by running on a treadmill with an intensity of 60-70% HRmax for 40 minutes/exercise sessions. Malondialdehyde (MDA) levels as a biomarker of oxidative stress were measured 30 minutes pre-exercise and 24 hours post-exercise using the Thiobarbituric Acid Reactive Substance (TBARs) method. The results showed that MDA levels significantly decreased in the endurance training group compared to the control group. Results of analysis of MDA levels between pre-exercise and post-exercise in CON (819.00±66.47 vs. 853.00±113.55 ng/mL; (P > 0.05), EEx (810.00±120.19 vs. 596.00±67.57 ng/mL; (P < 0.05). Based on the results of this study, it was concluded that a single session of endurance exercise at an intensity of 60-70% HRmax for 40 minutes reduces oxidative stress in overweight adolescent females.

Abstract

Obesity among college students poses a significant health concern, as excess weight heightens the risk of various diseases. The study aims to determine the effects of a 12-week resistance band weight training program on weight loss in obese college students. This research employs an experimental method, specifically using a "One Group Pre-Post Test Design." This involves administering a pre-test before the intervention and a post-test after the intervention. The participants in this study are adolescent athletes from the State University of Jakarta. The sample consists of 30 individuals selected through purposive sampling based on specific criteria: students from the State University of Jakarta, aged 16-23 years, both male and female. Data collection involves the experimental group and control group, the participant's BMI before and after the 12-week resistance band training program. BMI measurements were conducted using the OMRON brand BIA (Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis) method. Data analysis was performed using SPSS version 21, which includes the normality prerequisite test and is continued with the independent Sample T-Test. The results of the Independent Sample T-Test showed that the Sig value was 0.000 < 0.05. A 12-week resistance band weight training program has a significant effect on weight loss in obese college students. Therefore, the resistance band strength training model significantly influences weight loss more than traditional training methods. This suggests that resistance band training is highly effective for weight loss in adolescents aged 16-23 years and can be incorporated into physical exercise programs for this age group.
