Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of the Jogja Library Center (JLC) in preserving and strengthening local cultural resilience in the face of globalization challenges. As one of the public library institutions under the auspices of the Yogyakarta Special Region Library and Archives Office, JLC has great potential to maintain cultural values through the provision of documentary collections, educational activities, and cultural literacy services. The method used in this research is qualitative, employing a narrative research approach, which involves conducting interviews and observations of librarians and the JLC environment. The results showed that JLC has contributed significantly to the preservation of local culture, among others through the collection of newspapers, magazines, manuscript surgery, and Javanese script training. Nevertheless, JLC still has a great opportunity to strengthen its role through external collaboration with literacy communities, educational institutions, and tourism agencies. This study recommends the development of strategic cooperation as a concrete step to increase the reach and effectiveness of cultural preservation programs by the JLC.

Abstract

The utilization of multimedia technology, particularly the YouTube platform, has emerged as a new strategy for promoting library services and collections in the digital era. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness and patterns of usage of the YouTube channel of the UIN Raden Fatah Palembang Library as a promotional medium, using a descriptive comparison with the YouTube channel of the University of Indonesia Library. The research method employed is literature review and content analysis with a qualitative approach. The findings reveal that the UIN Raden Fatah Library’s YouTube channel focuses more on documenting events and promoting circulation services, whereas the University of Indonesia Library features more interactive videos such as tutorials, webinars, and regular digital educational content. These differing content strategies influence the level of engagement and audience reach. This study recommends optimizing the use of multimedia technology through more strategic content planning that aligns with user needs.

Abstract

In this digital era, libraries no longer only function as a place to store and borrow physical books, but also as a source of digital information that can be accessed via the internet. By digitizing library collections, students can access e-books, electronic journals, and various other digital information sources that can support the teaching and learning process in elementary schools. The design of this study is a Literature Review. In an effort to modernize literacy in elementary schools, it is important to increase the use of digital library collections. Effective strategies to achieve this can include training teachers and students in the use of digital libraries, developing interesting and relevant digital content, and increasing the accessibility and availability of digital library collections. By implementing this strategy, it is hoped that it can increase students' interest in reading and digital literacy so that they can be better prepared to face the increasingly developing digital era.

Abstract

Islamic Education has its primary foundation in revelation, with the Qur'an as the source of values that build the whole generation both intellectually, emotionally, spiritually, and morally. Surah Al-'Alaq verses 1-5 become the starting point for the transformation of Islamic Education through the command of "Iqra'" which demands multidimensional reading: texts, natural phenomena, and the self with a holistic approach. The reality of contemporary Education tends to emphasize the cognitive aspects and hard skills, but often ignores the strengthening of character, moral values, and spirituality, resulting in the emergence of dualism and identity crises. This research uses a philosophical maudhui (thematic) interpretation approach, namely collecting relevant verses, conducting philosophical analysis with philosophical logic and theory, and integrating revelation and ratio in interpreting the meaning of "Iqra'". The results of the study reveal that Surah Al-'Alaq encompasses educational values that encompass sensory, intellectual, emotional, spiritual, and supraconscious dimensions, all of which form the foundation of human development. The transformation of learning based on the values of revelation is crucial for building a civilized society and addressing current and future humanitarian crises, so that Islamic Education is not only oriented towards knowledge but also towards the development of character and spirituality as a whole.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explain the role of the Klaten Regency Regional Museum in preserving community culture in the digital era, focusing on cultural preservation activities, the use of digital technology, and the challenges faced. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The data collection techniques employed include interviews, observation, and documentation. To support the research, the researcher also uses literature studies, utilizing relevant information related to the research theme. The results of this study show that the Klaten Regency Regional Museum not only preserves artifacts and cultural heritage but also serves as a space for education and innovative cultural interaction through collection digitization, social media promotion, and community-based educational programs. The use of social media and digitized collections has improved public access to cultural information, increased awareness of cultural preservation, and strengthened local identity in the modern era. However, the museum also faces challenges such as limited resources, staff unfamiliar with technology, and difficulties in capturing the interest of the younger generation.

Abstract

Libraries as information centers have a strategic role in maintaining local cultural identity in the midst of globalization. Glocalization, a combination of global and local values, requires libraries to not only be adaptive to technological advances, but also uphold local wisdom. This article discusses how the Salatiga City Library and Archives Office (Dinpersip) can integrate local culture in library services in the era of glocalization. Through a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and document studies. The role of the library in preserving local culture through the digitization of cultural collections, the implementation of literacy activities based on local traditions and the use of digital platforms that promote local content. The results of this study show that the integration of local culture in library services is able to strengthen the local cultural identity of the community, improve cultural literacy, and expand the reach of information services. The utilization of digital services such as ISalatiga, Perpuskita, Mocamoco, as well as innovations such as VR-based Virtual Tour, local book exhibitions, batik classes and cultural space arrangements make the library a reading space as well as an inspiring and adaptive cultural dialogue space in the era of glocalization. Thus, libraries are not only reading spaces, but also cultural dialog spaces that glue local values in a global culture.

Abstract

Kartini was a well-known figure in the early 20th century for her thoughts on women's emancipation and liberation from Javanese feudal customs. These thoughts emerged due to intellectual activities in the form of correspondence with her Dutch friends. Kartini was initially skeptical of Islam, which she thought supported Javanese feudal customs. This happened because Kartini's correspondence friends influenced her. However, some time later there was a cleric from Semarang who inspired Kartini, namely Kiai Soleh Darat, Kartini felt a light when listening to explanations about the Qur'an that she could not previously get. Finally there was a change in Kartini's view of Islam and women's emancipation that she had discussed with her correspondence friend, this change was the influence of Kiai Soleh Darat's tafsir Faidh Ar-Rahman. This research was made to see how Kiai Soleh Darat as an environmental reality can influence someone with the tafsir Faidh Ar-Rahman as a source of teachings and Islamic values used as a container. The purpose of this research is to dissect Kartini's thoughts related to the above aspects influenced by Kiai Soleh Darat's tafsir Faidh Ar-Rahman. The theoretical approach used is critical discourse analysis theory and social construction theory to dissect Kartini's letters and the social reality that existed at that time. Then, the method used is a qualitative method with a focus on literature review of Kartini's letters and the book of tafsir Faidh Ar-Rahman supported by other sources related to the research. The results of this study show that there are changes in Kartini's thoughts about Islam, women's emancipation, and views on Javanese feudal customs as seen from her letters before and after reading Kiai Soleh Darat's tafsir Faidh Ar-Rahman.

Abstract

History and culture exhibitions are activities that display various artifacts, documents, artworks, and informative materials related to historical and cultural heritage, with the aim of introducing, preserving, and educating the public about historical values, traditions, arts, and cultural practices. This study aims to explore the capabilities of Meusuraya Akbar's history and culture exhibition in enhancing global literacy for 21st century learners. The research conceptual framework refers to Clifford Geertz's theory and the Museum Learning Model that emphasizes culture as a system of symbols and meanings that are contextual, participatory and multisensory. The research approach used is quantitative with simple linear regression analysis. The research was conducted at the Balee Meusapat Ureung Pidie Building during the exhibition. The research sample consisted of 96 high school students who visited the exhibition, selected using the Lemeshow formula with purposive sampling technique. Data collection was done through questionnaires and documentation. Data analysis using linear regression resulted in the equation Y = 7.659 + 0.267 X. The constant value of 7.659 indicates the basic level of global literacy of 21st century students. The coefficient of history and culture exhibition (X) of 0.267 indicates that every one unit increase in the influence of the exhibition will increase global literacy by 0.267 units. The significance test yielded a p-value of 0.000 (<0.05), which confirms the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis (Ha) and indicates the exhibition's capability as a significant global literacy medium. The coefficient of determination (R&sup2;) of 0.259 states that 25.9% of the variance in global literacy (Y) can be explained by history and culture exhibitions (X). This finding proves that the Meusuraya Akbar History and Culture Exhibition has a measurable impact on improving the global literacy of 21st century learners, so it can act as an effective educational medium.

Abstract

Lagu sebagai produk sastra tidak semata berfungsi sebagai media hiburan, melainkan juga menjadi wahana ekspresi nilai-nilai sosial dan budaya yang tumbuh dan hidup dalam masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji dan menginterpretasi nilai-nilai budaya yang terkandung dalam lirik lagu Selalu Ada di Nadimu, karya Laleilmanino, yang menjadi bagian dari film animasi JUMBO. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif serta teknik pengumpulan data simak-catat, penelitian ini memanfaatkan teori nilai budaya Djamari sebagai kerangka analitis untuk mengidentifikasi manifestasi nilai budaya Indonesia dalam lirik lagu tersebut, yang diakses melalui kanal resmi Visinema Pictures. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa lirik lagu merefleksikan lima kategori utama nilai budaya yang selaras dengan pandangan hidup masyarakat Indonesia. Lirik lagu Selalu Ada di Nadimu secara garis besar merepresentasikan nilai budaya hubungan manusia dengan masyarakat 10 (40%) dan hubungan manusia dengan sesama 6 (24%). Lirik lagu dalam konteks ini berfungsi tidak hanya sebagai ekspresi estetis, tetapi juga sebagai ruang reflektif sekaligus artikulatif dari identitas budaya lokal. Kontribusi utama penelitian ini terletak pada pengungkapan fungsi kebudayaan dalam lirik lagu sebagai representasi nilai kolektif masyarakat, sekaligus sebagai medium naratif dalam karya sinematik. Dengan demikian, temuan ini diharapkan memperkaya kajian interdisipliner dalam ranah musik, budaya, dan sinema, khususnya dalam studi kebudayaan kontemporer di era digital.

Abstract

The development of technology and information at this time has a significant influence on digital literacy, particularly for students. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the impact of university libraries on developing a digital literacy culture among students in the Islamic Library and Information Science Study Program at UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta. The research used a descriptive quantitative method. Data collection techniques were employed through questionnaires, observation, and documentation, involving 65 students from a total of 180 students in the Islamic Library and Information Science study program. The results of this study demonstrate that the role of university libraries is highly influential in shaping students' literacy culture. However, students still face several obstacles, including inadequate web access, a lack of understanding of digital services, and limited promotion and socialization. Therefore, it is essential to establish a culture of digital literacy in college libraries to support and meet the academic needs of students.
