Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of loose parts media on visual-spatial intelligence in early childhood. This study used an experimental method with a pre-experimental type one group pretest-posttest design. This Study used simple random sampling technique. The data collection technique used is a visual-spatial intelligence observation sheet. Data analysis technique using a t-test. The results showed that there was an effect of loose parts media on visual-spatial intelligence from the pretest, the treatment I to IV, and the posttest series. This is clear from the previous pretest average result which was 13.71, now the average has increased to 36.57 after being given treatment as using loose part media and the t-count is greater than the t-table which is 47.60> 2.160. This means that loose parts of media can affect the visualspatial intelligence of early childhood. These loose parts are an alternative media that teachers can use to stimulate children’s visual-spatial intelligence.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the educational game tool (ape) geoquarium magic on the ability to recognize geometric shapes in children aged 4-5 years. This study uses an experimental method with a pre-experimental design and the type of one-group pre-test-posttest design. The research sample comprised 12 children using a simple randomized technique. The data collection techniques used observation sheets. Then the data analysis technique used the statistical technique of t-test (t-test). The results got from the application of the geoaquarium magic educational game tool showed that the ability to recognize geometric shapes in children increased after being given treatment, as evidenced by the t count greater than the t table with an alpha significance level of 0.05. Thus, teachers can use these educational game tools as a strategy to develop the ability to recognize from an early age. To overcome the low ability of children in recognizing geometric shapes from an early age, further action research can be carried out.

Abstract

The ability to recognize the concept of early numbers in early childhood is very important to develop so that children are ready to take part in learning mathematics at a higher level. This study aims to determine the effect of mathematics learning approaches and self-regulation to recognize the concept of early numbers ability in kindergarten. The study used an experimental method with a treatment design by level 2x2. The sample used was 32 children. Score data, ability to recognize number concepts, analyzed and interpreted. The results showed that: (1) The Realistic Mathematics Education approach is better than the Open Ended Approach in improving the ability to recognize children's number concepts; (2) There is an interaction effect between mathematics learning approaches and Self-Regulation to recognize the concept of early numbers ability; (3) The Realistic Mathematics Education approach is more suitable for children with high self-regulation, (4) The Open Ended approach is more suitable for children with low self-regulation. Subsequent experiments are expected to find mathematics learning approaches for children whose self-regulation is low on recognizing the concept of early numbers ability. Abstract

This study aims at finding out the effectiveness of traditional Lore games on the ability to recognize the concept of numbers in kindergarten. This research used a quantitative approach implemented in the form of the quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest design. The population of this study is all early childhood students of group B in South Pariaman District, Pariaman City. Sample withdrawal technique using simple random sampling. Data collection techniques use a test of the ability to recognize the concept of numbers that self-designed, refer to aspects and indicators.  Hypothetical testing using data analysis techniques is a paired t-test by looking at each difference from the average score comparison. The result shows that traditional Lore games are effective in developing the ability to recognize the concept of numbers in early childhood. Therefore, the use of traditional games can be a strategy for teachers to teach math, particularly about the concept of numbers.
