Abstract

The work-life balance has become an important issue in the fast-paced and demanding work environment today. This study aims to analyze the determinants and consequences of work-life balance by examining the influence of working hours and job burnout on employee well-being, with the work-life balance as a mediating variable. It involved 100 active employees from the Local Government-Owned Water Utility of Pontianak City, chosen through a purposive sampling method. The data was collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling "“ Partial Least Square (SEM - PLS). The results reveal that the job burnout has a significant effect on both the work-life balance and employee well-being. However, the working hours does not have a significant effect on both the work-life balance and employee well-being. Additionally, the work-life balance has a significant effect on the employee well-being. Furthermore, this study confirms that the work-life balance is able to mediate the effect of job burnout on the employee well-being, but it is not able to mediate the effect of working hours on the employee well-being. These results provide managers and HR practitioners with insights into how to improve the employee well-being through effective working hours plans, job burnout reduction, and work-life balance programs.JEL:   I31, I39.

Abstract

Purpose: This research seeks to explore how attitude and satisfaction serve as mediating variables in the relationship between environmental concern and health consciousness with consumers' intention to purchase. Research Methodology: This study employed a quantitative methodology and was carried out in Indonesia. It involved 206 participants who had experience in purchasing and using organic skincare products from local brands, including Sensatia Botanical, Skin Dewi, Avoskin, N’Pure, and Runa Beauty. Data was collected through an online questionnaire and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with the help of SmartPLS software. Results: The findings indicate that both environmental concern and health consciousness positively and significantly influence attitude and satisfaction. Both psychological factors attitude and satisfaction were found to play a mediating role in the connection between environmental and health awareness and consumers' intentions to repurchase organic skincare products. Conclusions: Environmental concern and health consciousness significantly influence attitudes and satisfaction, which in turn drive repurchase intention for organic skincare products. These findings highlight the importance of value-based marketing focused on health and environmental sustainability to build consumer loyalty. Limitations: The study is limited to respondents aged 17–44 years and predominantly from the Kalimantan region. It did not take into account other variables such as green trust or perceived behavioral control. Contribution: This study contributes to the organic skincare industry, marketers, and academics in understanding the importance of building consumer attitude and satisfaction based on environmental and health values.

Abstract

The transformation of Universitas Tanjungpura (Untan) from a Public Service Agency State University (PTN-BLU) to a State University with Legal Entity status (PTN-BH) represents a strategic step aimed at enhancing institutional autonomy, flexibility, and competitiveness. This transition entails fundamental changes in governance, including the management of Human Resources (HR). This journal article examines the challenges and strategies of HR management during the transition period toward PTN-BH status. The study employs a qualitative research method with a case study approach, utilizing document analysis and in-depth interviews with key stakeholders at Universitas Tanjungpura. The findings identify several key challenges: (1) the need to align employment regulations from the BLU framework to the legal entity model, (2) the enhancement of HR competencies to manage expanded institutional autonomy, (3) the transformation of organizational culture toward outcome-oriented performance, and (4) the transition of remuneration and incentive systems toward performance-based schemes. The article proposes several strategic measures, including intensive communication and socialization, the formulation of clear and equitable implementing regulations, comprehensive and sustainable capacity-building programs, and the development of transparent and objective performance appraisal systems. It is concluded that the success of the transition largely depends on the readiness and effective management of human resources. Therefore, HR transition strategies must serve as a fundamental pillar and top priority throughout the entire process of institutional transformation.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effects of transformational leadership and perceived organizational support on employee performance, with organizational citizenship behavior and job satisfaction as mediating variables. A quantitative approach was employed using a survey method involving 228 employees selected through accidental sampling. Data were collected using Likert-scale questionnaires and analyzed with Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) through SmartPLS 4.0. The results reveal that transformational leadership has a significant negative direct effect on employee performance, while perceived organizational support does not have a significant direct effect. However, both transformational leadership and perceived organizational support have positive and significant effects on organizational citizenship behavior and job satisfaction. Furthermore, organizational citizenship behavior and job satisfaction positively and significantly influence employee performance and serve as mediating variables. These findings indicate that improving employee performance is more effectively achieved through fostering positive work attitudes and discretionary behaviors rather than relying solely on direct leadership influence. The study highlights the importance of strengthening supportive organizational climates and enhancing employee satisfaction to sustain performance outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of work family conflict on turnover intention among married Generation Z employees in the banking sector, with burnout and job satisfaction serving as dual mediating variables. A quantitative approach was employed by distributing online questionnaires to 200 married Gen Z banking employees in Indonesia, and the data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS. The results indicate that work–family conflict has a positive and significant effect on turnover intention, although its direct contribution is relatively small. However, work–family conflict exerts a strong and significant influence on increasing burnout and decreasing job satisfaction. Among the variables examined, job satisfaction emerged as the most dominant predictor in reducing turnover intention, demonstrating the highest path coefficient. Furthermore, the mediation analysis confirms that burnout and job satisfaction function as significant emotional mechanisms that translate work–family conflict into turnover intention, with the mediating role of job satisfaction being substantially stronger than that of burnout. These findings imply that maintaining and enhancing job satisfaction is a critical talent retention strategy, particularly in mitigating the adverse effects of work–family conflict among married Gen Z employees in the banking industry.
