Abstract

Environmental damage is intentionally done by individuals or groups of people. Understanding of environmental education involves various parties including one of them students. Behavior of responsibility possessed by students is supported by the personality and desire to act in dealing with environmental problems. This study was aimed at finding effect personality and intention to act toward responsible environmental behavior students. Research conducted at SMAN 31 Jakarta on the Semester I of 2019/2020 school year. The method used is a survey method through causal studies and analyzed by path analysis. The research instruments used were responsible environmental behavior (27 items, reliability 0.763), personality (26 items, reliability 0.820), and intention to act (30 items, reliability 0.904). The results showed that personality has a direct effect on the intention to act, intention to act has a direct effect on responsible environmental behavior , personality has a direct effect on responsible environmental behavior, and the results of intention to act are suitable as mediating variables between personality and responsible environmental behavior on students. Keys : Student, Personality, Intention to Act, Responsible Environmental Behavior, Reliability.

Abstract

Responsible environmental behavior is one of important factors to protect the environment from damage. Responsible environmental behavior can be built through knowledge of ecological concepts and intention to act toward the environment. This study aims to investigate the effect of knowledge of ecological concepts and intention to act toward responsible environmental behavior of senior high school students. The method used were survey through causal studies and analysis was used path analysis. This study used three variables i.e. ecological concept knowledge (exogenous variable/X1), itention to act (exogenous variable/X2), and environmental responsibility behavior (endogenous variables /X3). The subject were 165 students from grade XI of mathematics and science. The result of hypothesis showed that the path coefficient X1 to X3 was 0,817, X2 to X3 was 0,838, X1 to X2 was 0,832, and X1 to X3 through X2 was 0,70. Knowledge of ecological concepts and intention to act has a direct effect toward responsible environmental behavior of students. Intention to act can be said as the mediated variable between knowledge of ecological and responsible environmental behavior.

Abstract

Guided Discovery Learning is a learning model that is considered capable of improving student learning outcomes while Self-efficacy is self-confidence in an individual’s abilities. This study aims to determine the effect of guided discovery learning model and self-efficacy towards student learning outcomes in biology class. The method used in this research is quasi-experimental. This study has a sample of 200 students from 256 students. The technique used is Cluster random sampling. The instruments used are multiple choices and questionnaire. Data from the three variables are analysed using the Two-Way ANOVA Test and the Tukey Test, at a significance level of 0.005. Based on data analysis, it can be concluded that Guided Discovery Learning model and an individual’s self-efficacy can improve student learning outcomes. Both Guided Discovery Learning model and self-efficacy can improve student learning outcomes and have positive interactions between the two variables. The implications of this study are as a basis for increasing the use of learning models using technology, and teachers as educators are able to encourage students to improve self-efficacy.

Abstract

Students' awareness in conserving medicinal plants and the environment is still the focus of discussion among educators. Especially in students at vocational school levels who do not receive comprehensive Biology learning. The purpose of this study was to measure students' attitudes in conserving medicinal plants and the environment. The research method used is descriptive method with survey techniques. The study was conducted in March-April 2019 at Cipanas State 1 Vocational High School, Cianjur, West Java, Indonesia. The sample used was selected by simple random sampling, obtained as many as 104 students divided into 44 male and 60 female students. The results showed that the average score of students' attitudes was 76.47. The indicator with the highest score is related to the program of planting medicinal plants in the home yard. While the lowest indicators relate to conservation policies for medicinal plants and the environment. This is because the information received by students in terms of conservation policy is still need to be improve. The conclusion of this study is that the scores of student attitudes regarding the conservation of medicinal plants and the environment are good, but in some indicators still need to be improved.DOI: doi.org/10.24071/ijiet.2019.030202
