Abstract

The neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), as a predictor of inflammation obtained from the results between absolute neutrophils and absolute lymphocytes, shows an increased level in various diseases that trigger inflammation, especially in pneumonia with complications and a higher mortality rate. This study aimed to analyze NLR levels in children (aged 12-59 months) with pneumonia and non-pneumonia (upper respiratory tract infection/URTI) at Ananda’s Mother and Child Hospital in Makassar City. This study used an observational analytic study with a cross-sectional approach. The study sample consisted of 139 samples from children (aged 12-59 months), divided into pneumonia and non-pneumonia (URTI) samples. These samples had routine blood test results and complete medical record data. Data analysis used univariate and bivariate tests (Independent T Test). In this study, the average NLR in pneumonia samples was lower than non-pneumonia (URTI), and there was also no significant difference between NLR levels in pneumonia and non-pneumonia (URTI). Therefore, this study's conclusion shows no significant increase in NLR levels of children (aged 12-59 months) with pneumonia.

Abstract

First-time voters are a fairly large segment of voters. This shows that First-Time voters are a large resource in politics in Indonesia. Indonesia as a democratic country certainly expects every element of society to be actively involved in every democratic process, including the first-time voter segment. First-time voters as an important segment then have quite good political awareness. Through this political awareness, a pattern of political preference formation will then be formed. First-time voters as a large political resource are of course highly expected to be able to participate, at least voting in elections. So far, existing research regarding First-time voters only places as mere objects. However, this research then examines in more depth the patterns of political preference formation that will influence the political behavior of first-time voters. This research is qualitative research with primary data obtained through in-depth interviews with high school students as research informants. Based on the research conducted, it appears that First-time voters in Makassar City have quite good political awareness, which is an implication of their better political knowledge. So, when making choices in an election, First-time voters have a tendency to make their own choices based on their political preferences. The pattern of forming political preferences of first-time voters is sociology, rationality and psychology. Keywords: Firs-time voters, Political Preferences, Political Awareness

Abstract

Background: Granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (GCSF) is a primary regulator of the granulopoiesis process, which mobilizes stem cells from the bone marrow to the blood vessels. Filgrastim and lenograstim are the types of GCSF that have been widely used. Objective: This research aims to study the comparative therapeutic outcomes and cost-effectiveness of filgrastim and lenograstim therapies in colorectal cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy with the FOLFOX regimen.Method: This research was conducted at the pharmacy installation of the Dr. Kariadi Central General Hospital (RSUP Dr. Kariadi) from December 2023 to January 2024. It is observational research with a retrospective pre-posttest cohort study design that evaluates the comparative effectiveness and costs of filgrastim and lenograstim therapies in patients with neutropenia based on an increase in white blood cells (WBC) and absolute neutrophil count (ANC) scores of patients. The data was analyzed using the unpaired comparative analysis method and using the cost-effectiveness analysis (CEA) method to determine the cost-effectiveness. The observations were carried out twice, before and after administering the GCSF therapy. The samples consisted of 25 patients divided into two treatment groups. Results: The average scores of WBC and ANC levels in 15 patients who received filgrastim therapy were 2000 cells/mm3 and 666 cells/mm3. At the same time, the WBC and ANC levels in 10 patients who received lenograstim therapy were 1980 cells/mm3 and 449 cells/mm3. After administering the GCSF therapy, there was a significant increase in WBC and ANC levels (p<0.05) in each group. Still, there was no significant difference in the increase in WBC and ANC between the groups receiving filgrastim and lenograstim (p>0.05). The CEA analysis results showed that an increase of 1 cell/ml of WBC score cost Rp24.2 for filgrastim and Rp347 for lenograstim. In contrast, an increase of 1 cell/ml of ANC score cost Rp111.8 for filgrastim and Rp1572.5 for lenograstim. Conclusion: This research concludes that filgrastim is as effective as lenograstim, yet filgrastim is considered more cost-effective than lenograstim.
