Abstract

The purpose of this study is to understand the consistency of questions in class X biology textbooks based on the types of Lower order thinking skills (LOTS) and Higher order thinking skills (HOTS). This descriptive study analyzed questions in high school biology textbook with publishers Erlangga and Prawira Intan. The results showed that the distribution of the LOTS cognitive domain for Erlangga i.e remembering (C1) of 3.75%, understanding (C2) of 95.4%, applying (C3) of 0.75%. Meanwhile, the appearance of the HOTS cognitive domain for Erlangga i.e analyzing (C4) of 70%, evaluating (C5) of 20%, and creating (C6) of 10%. In other publisher Prawira Intan, the LOTS category for C1 of 65.7%, C2 of 31.8%, C3 of 2.41%. The most HOTS cognitive domain in the book publisher Prawira Intan are C4 which is 66.6%, C5 of 20% , and C6 of 13.3%.Keywords: problem analysis, Biology textbooks, cognitive domain, Bloom taxonomy.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v23i3.pp833-843

Abstract

The research aims to develop educational, practical and effective character-based modules of valid, practical and effective ecosystem material. The study was conducted in SMAS Yayasan Reis Cendikia Tembung, Medan. In this study, research and development methods with model 4D. The results show assessments by experts at materials scored 92.31%, media experts at 96.43% and character education at 96.43% with valid and worthy criteria used in the learning process. Practical test results on the educators' response scores at 77.50% and learners at 78.63% which show modules are very practical to use. The module's application of learning results gained effective results with scoring a n-gain score of 0.73 with high criteria. Thus, the education-based core of ecosystem material is defined as valid, practical, and effective, and worthy of use in the learning process. Keywords: modules, ecosystems, development, character educationDOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v24i1.pp373-383

Abstract

Inquiry learning strategies are a series of learning activities that emphasize the process of thinking critically to find and find for yourself the answer to a problem in question. This study aims to determine the influence of inquiry learning strategies on the critical thinking ability of class XI science students of MIA Al-washliyah Kedaisianam. This research is in the form of quantitative research with a Quasi-experimental approach. The head of this study is students of class XI MIA 1 and XI MIA 2 Madrasah Aliyah Al-washliyah Kedaisianam Batu Bara school year 2022/2023. The design of this study is The Non-Equivalent Pretest Control Group Design. Data on students' critical abilities were collected using questionnaires. For then the research results obtained from the Non-test questionnaire in the experimental class and control class. Then the data obtained in the critical thinking ability analysis test of students of the two research classes were declared normally distributed and homogeneous and for the hypothesis test showed that the calculation of 20.071 > ttabel 1.669, then it can be categorized as having an influence. And for a significant degree of < 0.05 where 0.000 < 0.05, then H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted and concluded there is an influence of inquiry learning strategies on students' critical thinking ability on regulatory system materials. Keywords: critical thinking, inquiry learning strategies, regulatory systems.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v23i3.pp1048-1056

Abstract

Biology learning at SMAS Taman Siswa Sukadamai has not used worksheets as teaching materials, teachers only use textbooks in the learning process so that the teacher-centered biology learning process becomes uninteresting and monotonous. This study aims to produce ctl-based worksheets on ecosystem material. The model used in this study is the ADDIE development model which consists of 5 stages, namely analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation. This research data collection technique through interviews, observation, questionnaires and tests. The research results based on the assessment of material experts obtained a score of 88% and media experts by 92% with the category very suitable for use in learning. The teacher and student assessment responses during the try-out obtained a score of 90% for teachers and 83.37% for students in the very practical category for use in learning. The results of applying the CTL-based LKPD on ecosystem material to student learning outcomes obtained quite effective results with an n-gain value of 0.67 in the quite effective category. It can be interpreted that CTL-based worksheets on ecosystem material are very feasible and can be used in the learning process. Keywords: student worksheet, Contextual Teaching and Learning, Biology learning.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v24i1.pp191-202

Abstract

This study aims to find out how the influence of Jigsaw learning strategies on students' metacognition development. This study uses a quantitative method by distributing questionnaires to students in both classes, namely control and experiment. The population in this study was 56 students. From this study, it was found that the use of the Jigsaw type learning model in MA could provide an increase in students' metacognition. This is indicated by the average number of students' metacognition in the treatment class is higher than in the control class, namely 7,643 for the treatment group and 6,286 for the control group. The treatment class is smaller than the control class if the standard deviation is the benchmark, with 0.1174 for the treatment class and 0.1442 for the control class, which means that the jigsaw type cooperative learning model has an effect on improving students' metacognition. . Keywords: cooperative learning, jigsaw, metacognition.  DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v23i4.pp1464-14710
