Abstract

Abstract

Good organic fertilizer supply chain management is essential to support the sustainability of agriculture in Indonesia, especially in rural areas. The Dewi Sri farmer group in Jajar Gumregah Village faces challenges in the distribution and stock management of organic fertilizer, which often impacts the productivity and quality of agricultural products. Improved knowledge and skills in supply chain management need to be trained, so that the distribution of organic fertilizer becomes more efficient, timely, and quality. The Organic Fertilizer Supply Chain Management Training for Dewi Sri Farmer Group in Jajar Gumregah Village aims to increase the capacity and efficiency of farmer groups in managing organic fertilizer production and distribution. Service activities involve several stages, starting from needs identification, program planning, training implementation, to evaluation and mentoring. Participants are given modules or practical guides as well as case studies to understand effective and efficient management of organic fertilizer distribution according to the needs of farmer groups. The results of the activities show that the implementation of effective supply chain management can increase the quality and quantity of organic fertilizer production, reduce operational costs, and improve the distribution system. Farmer group members gain new knowledge and skills in managing the supply chain more efficiently, which in turn supports increased agricultural productivity and economic welfare of the farming community. This service also contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in ending hunger (SDG 2), promoting decent work and economic growth (SDG 8), and ensuring sustainable consumption and production patterns (SDG 12). This service underscores the importance of continuous training and technology application in agricultural supply chain management.

Abstract

This article is the result of field research conducted in Tegaren, a tourism village in Trenggalek, East Java, Indonesia. Tegaren has become a tourism village that consistently ranks among the top 500 in the Anugerah Desa Wisata Indonesia in 2022 and 2023. This study examines how tourism growth in Tegaren impacts the quality of life through homestays and small enterprises. As one of the outstanding tourism villages in Trenggalek, Tegaren has interesting tourism developments to study. By using interviews, observation, and literature studies, the authors collected data from several village representatives. The collected data is then interpreted using qualitative analysis methods. The results obtained were then verified using the Tourism Area Life Cycle (TALC) concept and the Better Life Index for measuring quality of life. Authors also use an asset-based community development (ABCD) approach to get qualitative data as accurately as possible. This article also presents the results of research by the authors, revealing that Tegaren people are directly affected by the growing tourism business in the village. These community components include besek farmers and homestay business owners or lodging accommodations in Tegaren. This study demonstrates how local ecotourism can improve the quality of life for residents. However, there is still much that needs to be improved in this study, which is expected to be carried out in further research.

Abstract

This study discusses the Indonesian government's efforts in building the nation's image through the development of the Mandalika Special Economic Zone (KEK) using the nation branding hexagon approach which includes aspects of governance, people, culture and heritage, and investment and immigration. Mandalika, which has been designated as a super priority tourism destination as well as a national strategic KEK, has a crucial role in strengthening Indonesia's reputation on the international stage. The research method used is qualitative with secondary data analysis obtained from various reliable sources, such as official government documents, academic journals, and reports and releases from PT Injourney Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) as the manager of the Mandalika KEK. The results of the study show that transparent and professional governance in the Mandalika KEK is the main foundation in creating a conducive investment climate and supporting sustainable development. The community aspect highlights the importance of empowering local communities as cultural ambassadors and key actors in the development of the tourism sector, which contributes to improving the quality of social interaction and a positive image of Indonesia. Culture and ancestral heritage, such as the Bau Nyale Festival and traditional tourism villages, are effectively integrated into the nation branding strategy to highlight the uniqueness of Sasak culture while strengthening national identity. In addition, investment and immigration management is carried out with policies that simplify the licensing process and provide fiscal incentives, supported by international promotion and the development of world-class infrastructure, which significantly increases Mandalika's attractiveness to foreign investors. This study recommends strengthening human resource capacity, improving inclusive governance, and developing innovative cultural products to maintain the sustainability and competitiveness of Mandalika. Thus, the Mandalika Special Economic Zone not only functions as a driving force for the national economy, but also as an important part of Indonesia's nation branding strategy. Abstract

This mentoring program on coffee cultivation, implemented through training in red-cherry picking and selective harvesting techniques, was conducted to improve the quality of coffee yields in Jengglungharjo Village, Tanggunggunung District, Tulungagung Regency. The abundant coffee production in the area holds significant potential as a driver of the local economy. However, the quality of the coffee beans has remained low due to mixed-harvest practices and the farmers’ limited understanding of proper harvesting procedures. The program was carried out in three main stages: delivering material on the importance of harvesting fully ripe coffee cherries, providing training on effective harvesting techniques, and offering initial post-harvest assistance to ensure that red-cherry yields were processed correctly. The results showed a significant improvement in farmers’ knowledge and skills in identifying ripe cherries and applying selective harvesting practices. Farmers began to understand the relationship between proper harvesting methods and improvements in coffee bean quality, including the increased proportion of premium-grade beans in both natural and full-washed processes. This training is expected to serve as an initial foundation for promoting more sustainable, productive, and economically valuable coffee cultivation practices for the community of Jengglungharjo Village.

Abstract

Kampung Adat Segunung is a rural tourism destination located in Jombang that has attempted to implement tourism digitalization through various initiatives. However, these efforts have yet to meet the expectations of local tourism officers. In response, our team, which is also responsible for community service activities, undertook three strategic steps to enhance the capacity of these managers: (1) providing digital literacy training, particularly in tourism marketing; (2) designing and producing roll-up banners in collaboration with Segunung Traditional Village and a local community support organization, Yayasan Akta Bumi; and (3) developing and simulating a tourism package rooted in local wisdom and organically emerging attractions within the village. These initiatives were carried out using the Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) approach while integrating the principles of Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC). Through these three measures, the team aims to strengthen the capacity of tourism managers in Segunung Traditional Village, ensuring that their digitalization efforts yield more effective and sustainable outcomes than previous attempts.

Abstract

MSMEs chips in Jajar Village still manually layer seasoning, resulting in long processing times, high operator workload, and inconsistent quality between batches. This community service program aims to shift the process to a hexagonal seasoning mixer while simultaneously instilling discipline in operation-maintenance (PM) SOPs to increase efficiency and quality consistency. The activity implementation method includes needs mapping, SOP-module preparation, training (theory, demonstration, practice), coaching on the production floor, and pre-post evaluation. Instruments include pre-post knowledge tests, operator skill checklists, and process indicator measurements (productivity, CV of seasoning homogeneity, seasoning defects, setup time, unplanned downtime, and SOP/K3 compliance). The results showed a relative increase in operator knowledge of 63.6% (55% → 90%) followed by simultaneous improvements in process indicators: productivity increased by 29.1% (28.5 → 36.8 kg/hour), coefficient of variation (CV) of homogeneity decreased by 35.6% (17.4% → 11.2%), seasoning defects decreased by 57.6% (8.5% → 3.6%), setup time decreased by 31.5% (16.5 → 11.3 minutes), unplanned downtime decreased by 38.7% (62 → 38 minutes/day), and SOP/K3 compliance increased by 32.4% (68 → 90). These results indicate that the combination of technology transfer, SOP standardization, preventive maintenance, and operational parameter assistance on the production floor is effective in increasing efficiency while maintaining quality consistency. This intervention is aligned with Asta Cita—specifically missions 3 (encouraging entrepreneurship and creative industries), 4 (developing human resources), 5 (downstream and industrialization), and 6 (building from villages), and supports the SDGs: SDG 8 (decent work & economic growth), SDG 9 (industry, innovation & infrastructure), SDG 12 (sustainable production & consumption), SDG 3 (health & well-being), and SDG 17 (partnerships).
