Abstract

This research investigated the correlation between students' learning motivation and their ability in reading comprehension at eighth grade of MTsN 4 Kerinci. The study employed a quantitative method with correlational technique involving 22 students selected through purposive sampling from a population of 62 students. Data collection utilized questionnaires assessed by Likert scale rating to measure students' learning motivation and multiple choice reading tests measured by H. Douglas Brown's rubric to assess reading comprehension ability. The findings revealed a positive correlation between the two variables with rxy value of 0.721 which was greater than rtable at 5 percent significance level of 0.423, indicating that 52.19 percent of reading ability was influenced by learning motivation. Statistical analysis using SPSS 23.00 showed that t-count value of 12.146 exceeded t-table value of 1.713 with significance level of 0.625 which was less than 0.05, confirming that the alternative hypothesis was accepted. The study concluded that there was a significant positive correlation between students' learning motivation and their reading comprehension ability, suggesting that higher motivation contributes to better reading performance among eighth grade students at MTsN 4 Kerinci.

Abstract

Religious radicalism often arises from rigid and literalist interpretations of Islamic sources that overlook the Prophetic values of mercy (rahmah), facilitation (taysir), and moderation. This article revisits the hadith "Yassiru wa la tuassiru, bashshiru wa la tunaffiru" ("Make things easy and do not make them difficult; give glad tidings and do not drive people away") as a normative and strategic framework for religious deradicalization in Indonesia. Using qualitative library research, the study examines the hadith through takhrij, sanad and matn analysis, asbab al-wurud, and classical and contemporary commentaries. The findings show that facilitation (taysir), encouragement (tabshir), and avoiding deterrence (tanfir) form a coherent paradigm to counter extremism by promoting inclusive, tolerant, and humanistic religiosity. Applied in education, dawah, and public policy, this Prophetic ethic strengthens religious moderation, prevents radicalization, and supports social harmony.

Abstract

The Meranti Islands Regency is an archipelago with strategic yet complex geographic characteristics, where interregional connectivity is highly dependent on the integration of sea and land traffic. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of sea and land traffic supervision conducted by the Meranti Islands Regency Transportation Agency and identify obstacles to the implementation of this policy. The methodology used in this study is descriptive qualitative with an empirical juridical approach. Data collection techniques were conducted through field observations, in-depth interviews with the Transportation Agency, and documentation studies related to regional transportation regulations. The results indicate that sea traffic supervision focuses on shipping safety and the operation of public ports, while land supervision focuses on road transportation order and road safety facilities. However, the effectiveness of supervision is still hampered by limited personnel with special certifications, a lack of supporting infrastructure (such as patrol boats and vehicle testing equipment), and the vast and difficult-to-reach geographical area. It is concluded that strengthened cross-sectoral coordination and increased budget allocation are needed to modernize the information technology-based supervision system to achieve safe and orderly transportation in the Meranti Islands Regency. Keywords: Supervision, Traffic, Transportation Agency, Meranti Islands, Transportation Safety.

Abstract

This study analyses the effectiveness of criminal law enforcement in the field of land through the perspective of agrarian justice. The aim is to evaluate the level of effectiveness, identify inhibiting factors, and formulate policy recommendations to strengthen the protection of equitable land rights. The method used is normative law with a legislative, conceptual, and case approach. Primary and secondary data in the form of regulations, doctrines, and jurisprudence were collected through literature studies and analysed qualitatively and prescriptively. The findings show that law enforcement has not been effective. The main obstacles include regulatory disharmony, weaknesses in the land administration and data systems, difficulties in proving cases, and poor coordination between law enforcement agencies. In conclusion, strengthening law enforcement requires: regulatory harmonisation, integration of land databases, capacity building of officials, and the implementation of policies oriented towards the restoration of agrarian rights and justice as a priority in case resolution.

Abstract

This study aims to assess the effectiveness of the PADC (Plan, Do, Check, Act) cycle, adapted from the Kemmis & McTaggart model, in improving the numeracy skills of fourth-grade students at Tumih Elementary School. The background of the problem indicates the low numeracy skills of students in the class and the urgency to find innovative learning approaches. The method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR), involving a series of interventions, observations, and interviews to identify positive shifts. The research findings significantly indicate a substantial improvement in students' numeracy skills. Concrete data shows that the average pre-test score of students was only 30, which then after repeated implementation of the PADC cycle, increased sharply to 70. This 40-point increase demonstrates the effectiveness of the PADC cycle in improving academic performance. Furthermore, the post-intervention condition also showed better material retention and increased student confidence. The conclusion of this study is that the PADC cycle has proven to be a highly effective framework for continuous learning improvement, not only significantly improving numeracy skills in fourth-grade students at Tumih Elementary School but also empowering teachers as adaptive change agents. This approach plays a crucial role in creating a more responsive and effective learning environment tailored to students' needs.

Abstract

Background: The emergence of Generation Z has significantly transformed English language classrooms by introducing learning preferences shaped by digital immersion, rapid information access, and interactive communication environments. These characteristics challenge conventional teacher centered pedagogy and create a complex tension between learning engagement and digital distraction in secondary education settings. Aims: This study examines how English teachers adapt their pedagogical practices to engage Generation Z learners while simultaneously managing the challenges of digital distraction within secondary school classrooms. Methods: A qualitative descriptive design was employed. Data were collected through semi structured interviews, classroom observations, and instructional document analysis involving English teachers who regularly teach digitally oriented learners. The collected data were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify recurring patterns of instructional challenges and adaptive pedagogical strategies. Results: The findings indicate that multimedia materials, collaborative learning tasks, and technology integrated activities increase student participation, motivation, and classroom interaction. Nevertheless, teachers continue to encounter persistent difficulties in maintaining sustained student attention, controlling off task digital behavior, and ensuring that technological tools remain aligned with pedagogical objectives. Conclusion: The study demonstrates that effective instruction for Generation Z learners requires adaptive pedagogy that integrates digital technology with learner centered instructional design, structured interaction, and guided participation. Teachers must strategically transform digital engagement into productive learning opportunities rather than uncontrolled technological use. Strengthening teachers’ digital pedagogical competence and providing institutional support are therefore essential to ensure that technology enriched classrooms promote sustained engagement, meaningful communication, and deeper language learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze needs assessment-based educational planning in the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum at SMK Negeri 1 Simpang Empat. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, limited participatory observations, and document analysis of the School Operational Curriculum (KOSP), School Work Plan (RKS), School Activity and Budget Plan (RKAS), and industry partnership documents. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, including data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The findings reveal that educational planning has been conducted in a participatory and data-driven manner through school self-evaluation, tracer studies, and feedback from industry partners. The integration of needs assessment results into planning documents demonstrates vertical alignment between vision, programs, and budgeting. However, long-term labor market projections and outcome-based performance indicators require further strengthening. This study contributes to the development of adaptive and reflective vocational education planning models oriented toward graduate relevance and employability.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Rational–Comprehensive Model in school-based planning at SMK Negeri 1 Kuala Kapuas, particularly in the preparation of the School Work Plan (RKS) and the School Activity and Budget Plan (RKAS), as well as its impact on the effectiveness and efficiency of vocational education programs. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis. The research participants included the principal, vice principals, teachers, administrative staff, and representatives from industry partners. The findings indicate that the Rational–Comprehensive Model has been implemented through systematic stages, including needs assessment based on school quality reports and performance data, analysis of alternative programs, priority setting, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. The planning process has become more evidence-based, participatory, and aligned with industry demands. Key priority programs include student internships (PKL), competency certification, vocational competency examinations, teacher professional development, and the procurement of practical training equipment. Despite challenges such as limited financial resources, time constraints for teachers, and performance-based evaluation limitations, the application of this model has improved program effectiveness by ensuring that activities are goal-oriented and needs-based. It has also enhanced budget efficiency through clear prioritization. Overall, the Rational–Comprehensive Model serves as a strategic approach to strengthening accountability, improving educational quality, and increasing the relevance of vocational education to labor market demands.
