Abstract

Advancements in technology have facilitated a more accessible learning experience for students, with the integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) emerging as a prominent trend in the study of literary works. This qualitative descriptive study aims to explore students' perspectives on the use of ICT in the Introduction to Literature curriculum. Understanding students' viewpoints on ICT usage in this context serves as valuable evaluation material, enabling educators to formulate new policies pertaining to instructional methods for future Introduction to Literature courses. Data for this research was gathered through a questionnaire administered via Google Form to students enrolled in the Introduction to Literature course, yielding responses from 52 participants who randomly selected from students who had taken the Introduction to Literature course at STKIP PGRI Bangkalan. The collected questionnaire data was subjected to analysis involving data reduction, interpretation, and the formulation of conclusions. The findings reveal a highly positive outlook among students regarding the integration of ICT into their learning experience. A significant majority, 51.92%, expressed agreement with the incorporation of ICT in Introduction to Literature instruction. The presence of ICT has notably heightened students' enthusiasm for engaging with the subject matter. This research suggests that ICT can be effectively utilized in Introduction to Literature education through the implementation of diverse, engaging, and unique media, facilitating enhanced comprehension of the material by students.

Abstract

Adanya fasilitas dan tempat yang layak merupakan salah satu dorongan terciptanya minat baca dan dapat meningkatkan literasi terutama untuk generasi bangsa Indonesia. Tersedianya buku bacaanndengan adanya perpustakaan merupakan salah satu upaya yang dapattdilakukan sekolahhuntuk meningkatkan minattliterasiisiswa. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk melakukan perubahan dengan cara revitalisasi terhadap perpustakaan agar dapat meningkatkan literasi terutama pada siswa di UPTD SDN Glagga 4. Perpustakaan ini berfungsi sebagaiitempat penyimpanannbuku arsip, alat-alat dapur, dan alat bangunan. Kondisi yanggterlihattkurang layak, membuattsiswa tidak tertarikkberkunjung ke perpustakaannsekolah. Kegiatan ini memilik tujuan yang ingin dicapai yaitu membuat perpustakaan kembali berfungsi dan meningkatkan minat baca siswa dalam menambah wawasan mereka. Data penelitian ini diperoleh dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Metode pengumpulan dan teknik analisis data dengan cara wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Hasil pengabdian ini: 1) Revitalisasi perpustakaan ini dilakukan dengan membersihkan, menata buku, dan mengelompokkan buku sesuai jenisnya. Berdasarkan klasifikasi, terdapat 72 buku guru, 203 buku tema, 35 buku cerita, dan 60 buku pengetahuan umum, 2) Revitalisasi perpustakaan yang lebih menarik, bersih dan juga tertata rapi. Dengan hasil pengabdian, dapat disimpulkannbahwa dengannadanya kegiatan revitalisasi perpustakaan di UPTD SDN Glagga 4 dapat meningkatkannminat bacaasiswa dannperpustakaan berfungsi kembali.

Abstract

Program pembimbingan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan budaya literasi di Desa Tengket Arosbaya dengan melalui pendampingan baca tulis bagi anak-anak. Literasi mencakup kemampuan membaca dan menulis yang sangat penting untuk perkembangan anak. Namun, minat baca dan tulis di masyarakat masih rendah, terutama karena dominasi hiburan dari televisi dan gawai. Program pendampingan dilaksanakan dalam tiga tahap: persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Hasil pelaksanaan program ini menunjukkan adanya keberhasilan dalam upaya untuk meningkatkan minat baca dan tulis pada anak-anak. Metode pendampingan yang digunakan meliputi bercerita, bermain literasi, serta memperkenalkan kosakata dan huruf kepada anak-anak secara menyenangkan. Program ini juga melibatkan orang tua dan wali murid dalam sosialisasi tentang pentingnya literasi dalam pendidikan anak. Dalam evaluasinya, dibahas pula upaya pembenahan dan kelanjutan program pendampingan literasi di desa tersebut. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa program pendampingan literasi efektif dalam meningkatkan minat baca dan tulis pada anak-anak desa Tengket Arosbaya. Dengan melibatkan keluarga dan masyarakat, diharapkan budaya literasi dapat tumbuh dan berkembang secara berkelanjutan.

Abstract

This study focuses on analyzing the effectiveness of Project-Based Learning (PBL) in the context of English language education, with an emphasis on student engagement and their communication skills. The research method employed in this study is quantitative, wherein the researchers evaluated significant changes in student engagement and communication skills after implementing PBL. The study involved two groups of students: an experimental group that implemented PBL and a control group that used traditional teaching methods as a comparison. The research findings indicate a significant improvement in learning motivation, active participation, and interest in the subject among students in the experimental group compared to the control group. Evaluation using posttest scores shows that students' abilities in speaking, listening, reading, and writing significantly improved in the experimental group that implemented PBL. This study indicates that to maximize the benefits of PBL in enhancing student engagement and communication skills in English language learning, strong support and training for educators are necessary, along with curriculum adjustments that align with the PBL approach.

Abstract

 Review  sentences  is  type  of  grammar  practicing which  is  the  easiest  way  to  checking  how  is  the  students’ understanding  about  the  previous  grammar  rules  given, especially for college students. We are going to define some steps that we need to apply in review sentences. Moreover, it is  still  important  to  upgrading  collage  students’  grammar understanding because English as EFL will getting hard when they  are  not  really  concern  about  the  grammar.  This  paper will  discuss  the  benefit  of  review  sentences  in  checking students understanding in the certain type of grammar rules.

Abstract

This study aims to confirm a better understanding of simple present tense and , through a movie titled ‘Up’ set in a public school in a public Junior High School in East Java Province. This research uses a classroom action research. Based on the results of the study, the results of this study were very satisfying. This study succeeded in improving student present tense and tense throughout the film, supported by several other means, including word spelling correction, student motivation, and performing listening tasks. On this study, students’ understanding of the present tense can be improved. This can be seen in the increase in students understanding of simple present tense through the dialogue example during the first cycle. This research was successful in the effort to improve the students’ of simple present tense through up movie supported by some other actions such as correcting the word spelling, giving the students motivation, applying some listening and speaking activities. The increase of score between pre-test to post-test from 69.63 to 78.70 is the evidence that Up movie can improve students’ mastery of simple present tense through the communicative examples of movie dialogues and activities to assist pupils understand more in situational context.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji peran literasi digital dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis mahasiswa di era Society 5.0. Era ini menuntut integrasi antara manusia dan teknologi, sehingga kemampuan berpikir kritis dan penguasaan literasi digital menjadi kompetensi utama bagi mahasiswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi literatur dengan menelaah berbagai hasil penelitian sebelumnya yang relevan dari jurnal nasional dan internasional. Data dikumpulkan melalui analisis mendalam terhadap delapan sumber ilmiah yang membahas hubungan antara literasi digital dan kemampuan berpikir kritis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa literasi digital berkontribusi signifikan terhadap peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis mahasiswa, terutama dalam konteks pembelajaran berbasis teknologi. Mahasiswa yang memiliki literasi digital tinggi cenderung mampu menilai kredibilitas informasi, berpikir secara analitis, serta mengambil keputusan yang tepat berdasarkan data. Selain itu, integrasi literasi digital dalam pembelajaran juga mendorong mahasiswa untuk lebih adaptif, kreatif, dan reflektif terhadap tantangan akademik di era digital. Pembahasan lebih lanjut mengungkap bahwa penguatan literasi digital melalui kurikulum pendidikan tinggi, pelatihan teknologi, dan pemanfaatan kecerdasan buatan dapat meningkatkan efektivitas pembelajaran dan kualitas berpikir kritis mahasiswa. Dengan demikian, literasi digital bukan hanya keterampilan teknis, tetapi juga fondasi penting dalam membentuk mahasiswa yang cerdas, kritis, dan siap menghadapi kompleksitas dunia Society 5.0.

Abstract

In 2020, the Ministry of Education and Culture of Indonesia published the newest curriculum, Kurikulum Merdeka, which demands EFL teachers implement a genre-based approach during teaching and learning. In response to this call, this research aimed to investigate the implementation of a genre-based approach to enhance EFL pre-service English teacher students’ speaking ability. This research employed classroom action research to investigate whether the approach could improve students’ speaking ability. This research was conducted at STKIP Al Hikmah Surabaya, and the participants of the research were selected through purposive sampling. In order to answer the research questions, the researcher used a post-test, an interview, a questionnaire, and an observation as data collection techniques. Furthermore, the interactive data analysis model proposed by Miles and Huberman was implemented to analyze the data. The study concluded that the genre-based approach can improve EFL pre-service English teacher students' capability in speaking. The pre-service English teacher students’ significant enhancement in their speaking capability is exhibited by the generic structure of the descriptive text, such as the social function, the organization, and grammatical features. All informants could fulfill relatively all parts, which is fundamental to composing a descriptive text.
