Abstract

The authority to administer business licenses in the regions and the authority of the regional government in administering business licenses using the Online Single Submission (OSS) system are matters that will be studied. The research method used is normative legal research. The results of the research and discussion show that the authority to administer business licenses in the regions is a concurrent authority owned by the regions. Where the authority of the regional government must follow the norms, standards, criteria and procedures set by the central government. The implementation of Business Licensing in the Regions is carried out to improve the investment ecosystem. The improvement of the investment ecosystem and business activities includes Risk-Based Business Licensing, basic requirements for Business Licensing, and sector Business Permits and ease of investment requirements. The implementation of Business Licensing using the Online Single Submission (OSS) System by the regional government is limited to operating the system while the Central Government through the OSS institution carries out the implementation. The OSS system does not mean taking over the authority of the regional government in the licensing process, because the regional government continues to oversee investors' commitment to business licensing.

Abstract

The teacher education system in Indonesia faces significant challenges in producing professional and competent educators. Despite a structured curriculum and professional development programs, a gap persists between graduates’ competencies and job market expectations. This study aims to assess English Education students’ readiness to meet teaching standards and examines disparities between institutional goals and graduates’ actual capabilities. Using a mixed-method sequential explanatory design, data were collected via a Likert-scale survey of 66 final-year students and in-depth interviews with principals, senior teachers, and students. The findings reveal that only 39.4% of students feel confident in speaking English, and 50% consider themselves capable of managing classrooms, although 81.9% demonstrated strong competencies in using technology. These competency gaps highlight the need for improved practical experiences, such as higher-quality and longer internship programs. Furthermore, the curriculum should prioritize speaking skills, cross-cultural understanding, and innovative pedagogical strategies to prepare teachers who are creative, adaptable, and ready to face the challenges of modern education. This study underscores the importance of strengthening collaboration between universities and educational institutions to shape professional educators capable of advancing national education quality.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

The digital transformation has reshaped Indonesia’s retail investment landscape through the emergence of digital investment applications from both banking and non-banking institutions. Despite the growing adoption of such platforms, user preferences toward different types of applications remain underexplored. This study aims to examine the factors influencing user preferences in selecting digital investment applications, by comparing banking and non-banking securities platforms. A quantitative approach was employed, involving 124 active users of digital investment apps selected through purposive sampling. Five key variables were analyzed: ease of use, trust in technology, institutional trust, perceived financial benefit, and social influence. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and binary logistic regression. The findings reveal that most users prefer non-banking applications. Among the analyzed variables, institutional trust emerged as the most significant predictor of user preference. These findings suggest that digital investment platforms should focus not only on enhancing technological features, but also on strengthening institutional reputation and building user trust. These findings suggest the importance of incorporating institutional trust in the development of technology adoption models in the digital finance sector. Practically, app developers need to prioritize building institutional reputation and user trust, in addition to enhancing technological features.

Abstract

This study explores the preferences of Generation Z for English learning media and the factors influencing these preferences. Generation Z, born between 1997 and 2012, demonstrates a strong inclination toward modern digital platforms such as social media, video streaming services, and learning apps like Duolingo, which offer flexibility, interactivity, and visually appealing content. The study employs a mixed-method approach, combining quantitative surveys of 77 respondents aged 15–25 years and qualitative interviews with four participants. Key findings reveal that ease of access, visual appeal, and relevance to personal interests significantly influence Gen Z’s media choices. Challenges include distractions, short attention spans, and a lack of motivation in self-directed learning. The findings highlight the importance of designing media that aligns with Gen Z’s learning styles, incorporating interactive and gamified elements to enhance engagement and learning outcomes. This research provides valuable insights for educators and developers to optimize digital media for effective English learning

Abstract

English proficiency is essential in nursing education, as nurses must communicate medical information accurately while demonstrating empathy and ethical awareness. However, many English for Specific Purposes (ESP) courses remain limited to vocabulary and grammar memorization, neglecting contextual and humanistic aspects of learning. This study introduces medical-adapted fables as an alternative medium for English instruction in nursing. Employing a mixed-method exploratory–descriptive design, data were gathered from 150 nursing students in Surabaya through questionnaires, complemented by interviews with three participants for deeper insights. Findings reveal that students could recognize key medical vocabulary such as blood pressure (80%), infection (76.7%), and diagnosis (74.7%), along with medical devices including thermometer (86.7%), stethoscope (83.3%), and syringe (80.7%). Ethical communication values were also strongly perceived, particularly empathy (88%), active listening (84.7%), and confidentiality (76.7%). Perception scores exceeded 4.2 on a Likert scale, indicating positive responses toward storytelling as a learning tool. Interviews further highlighted that fables provided memorable and emotionally engaging contexts, fostering confidence and sensitivity in English use. The novelty of this research lies in integrating narrative pedagogy into ESP for nursing, offering promising implications for vocabulary learning, ethical awareness, and global communication readiness.
