Abstract

This study aims to analyze the principal’s management strategies in improving student achievement at MI Darul Ulum, Ngaliyan District, Semarang City. Student achievement is an important indicator of the success of educational institutions in achieving educational goals. In this context, the school principal plays a strategic role in formulating policies, managing school resources, and creating a conducive learning environment for students. This study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving the principal, teachers, the school committee, parents, and students as research informants. Data analysis was conducted using an interactive model consisting of data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The validity of the data was ensured through source triangulation, technique triangulation, and time triangulation. The results show that the principal’s management strategies in improving student achievement are implemented through three main stages: strategy formulation, strategy implementation, and strategy control. In the formulation stage, the principal conducts a school needs analysis and formulates programs to improve student achievement through participatory planning involving various stakeholders. In the implementation stage, the school carries out academic and non-academic programs such as additional tutoring, remedial learning, enrichment activities, and extracurricular programs to develop students’ potential. In the control stage, the principal conducts monitoring, evaluation, and follow-up actions to ensure the effectiveness of educational programs. The findings indicate that systematic, collaborative, and sustainable management strategies implemented by the principal can improve both academic and non-academic student achievement. These findings are expected to provide insights for educational institutions in developing effective school management strategies to enhance student achievement.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the principal’s management in integrating character education at Realfunrainbow Kindergarten in Salatiga City. Character education in early childhood has become increasingly important in response to globalization, the rapid development of digital technology, and socio-cultural changes that influence children’s behavior. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Methodological triangulation was applied to ensure the credibility of the findings. The research participants included the principal, two Group B teachers, three parents as program beneficiaries, and three local MSME owners as internship partners. Data were analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal a distinctive innovation at Realfunrainbow Kindergarten, namely the integration of character education with local socio-economic contexts through internship programs at MSMEs. This initiative enables children to practice values such as discipline, cooperation, respect, and responsibility in authentic settings, thereby strengthening experiential learning and community engagement. In addition, the integration of character education is systematically implemented through the principal’s management functions, including planning, organizing, mobilizing, and controlling. Planning is based on needs analysis with a focus on character development, while organizing involves assigning teachers as mentors, engaging parents as collaborators, and establishing partnerships with local MSMEs. Mobilization is carried out through role modeling and motivation, whereas controlling is conducted through continuous supervision and evaluation. In conclusion, the successful integration of character education is largely determined by the principal’s managerial and leadership capacities in managing school resources comprehensively and sustainably, as well as in fostering community partnerships to support early childhood character development.

Abstract

This study examines the management of SIKUAD (Academic Information System) in improving school performance at SMK Negeri 2 Purwodadi. The study is grounded in the premise that the effectiveness of an academic information system depends not only on technological features but also on the quality of managerial processes supporting its implementation. This research aims to analyze the management of SIKUAD based on four management functions, planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling, and to identify its direct implications for school performance improvement. A qualitative case study design was employed. The research was conducted from December to February and involved one principal, one vice principal for curriculum, two system operators, five teachers, and three students selected purposively. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation, and analyzed using interactive data analysis supported by triangulation and member checking. The findings indicate that systematic planning through needs analysis and policy formulation ensured initial readiness and minimized administrative errors. Clear organizational structuring facilitated coordination between management, operators, and teachers. The consistent implementation of the system significantly accelerated grade processing, reduced reporting delays, improved real-time monitoring of learning activities, and decreased administrative complaints. Continuous monitoring and evaluation strengthened teacher discipline, data accuracy, and institutional accountability. The study concludes that well-managed SIKUAD contributes directly to administrative efficiency, transparency, and overall school performance improvement.
